"Casa de Sao Mamede" is a small family hotel (26 rooms). Built in the XVIIIth century as the residence of a magistrate. This beautiful building has maintained all the charm of an old family home. It is one of the first buildings to be constructed in the traditional system of "birdcage" - earthquake proof construction used after earthquake of 1755. Having been adapted to a hotel unit in 1948 it knew how to keep throughout the years, the treatment, the tradition and the atmosphere of a true family house. Always trying to preserve the past we did not relinquish however the comfort requirements that contemporary life demands so all the rooms have: private bathroom, telephone, digital safe, satellite television, double glass and air-conditioned with individual command. The fact that we're dealing with a small hotel type unit allow us to grant a more personalized treatment to each customer.

I had a great week at this very nice small hotel that is quite conveniently located. Only a few blocks from the Rato Metro Station on a busy street with bus and tram routes going right in front of the hotel. My room was very comfortable with twin beds, a nice shower and it was

We were in walking distance to great restaurants and festivities at this lovely hotel. The building has kept its charm with stained glass windows and original staircases. A quaint breakfast room has small bay windows overlooking the park. Large clean rooms and comfortable beds

Stayed here for a few nights a couple of weeks ago. Old hotel full of character. Our room was old style and rather dark and small as you would expect from a building of this age but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was extremely modern and up to date with

Beautiful old building on a main run down to Lisbon but quiet cobble streets are just seconds away. This is a perfect location, out of the hustle and bustle of the main area of the city centre but close enough to get to by taxi, bus or on foot (there are a number of little,

Charming, older guesthouse with lots of character. Very pleasant, professional staff. Far enough away from the crowds and noise yet close enough to be a pleasant stroll. Look forward to staying here again.

I am wondering if you have parking facilities if we have a car.
I do not think there is any parking on site. This is an old house in a city centre location. Front door is straight onto the street. Rato metro station is very nearby. I think they would reply if you asked the question directly. I would not advise driving in Lisbon city centre unless you are used to Portuguese driving styles!
