The Hotel Marques de Pombal is often celebrated for its impeccable cleanliness and professional yet relaxed atmosphere. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel affords guests easy access to nearby attractions and transport options. While the rooms receive accolades for their spotlessness and comfort, some guests have noted they are a bit on the small side and could use a refresh in decor.

We are frequent travellers and decided to use this hotel instead of a big brand. We weren't disappointed.
We were welcomed and were checked in promptly and had room 306 and 308. The check-in lady was very friendly who gave plenty of local tips and information.
The whole hotel was super clean and tidy. All staff very helpful.
Room were very spacious and again very clean. The hotel picked up from our passports that it was my birthday during my stay and we arrived back that night to find a HUGE slice of chocolate cake and a bottle of fizz. A lovely little touch and much needed after all day of being on our feet.
We booked room 306 and 308 which was a twin room.
Rooms had a large bathroom with toiletries and towels available.
Housekeeping visited daily and replaced towels and made beds if required.
I was concerned about noise from the local roads but slept very well, I am a very light sleeper but got some decent nights sleep.
Hotel also has a Fitness Centre which we didn’t use.
Breakfast was included during our stay and was excellent it had cereal, toast and jams, hot drinks, bacon, eggs, pancakes. Everything we needed and more!
The hotel was VERY quiet, it felt like we were the only ones staying.
Rooms have a safety deposit box which is free to use, it also has a desk and chair.
The hotel is well situated and close to everything.
Thanks for a great stay! We will be back!

Service: 5* Impeccable from every member of staff from front desk to the restaurant Blu staff, who were outstanding. Hotel management and staff should be very proud of the service they deliver which makes a real difference to guests.
Bedrooms: 4.5* Comfortable bed(s), room and bathroom provide every amenity needed with kettle and tea /coffee (no milk?!), small fridge, large safe, sufficient drawer and hanging space. individually controlled air conditioning, well appointed bathroom (ours had a bath with shower over it). The bathroom felt slightly dated but so what? Everything spotless. We were on the fourth floor and being March kept the windows closed so it was very quiet.
Restaurant and bar Blu: 5* Apart from the impeccable service mentioned above, there was a reasonable choice of food on the menu. We and our 2 friends ate there three times, a late lunch snack when we arrived and two dinners plus some drinks in the bar a couple of times. The food was nicely presented; the portion size was good; and most importantly every dish tasted wonderful. The restaurant is not large so it is advisable to book.
Breakfast: 4* Probably the weakest element - served downstairs in 2 smallish windowless rooms (a shame). The quality of what was provided was generally good with a wide choice of bread, a few cereal choices, some fresh fruit and a few hot dish choices. A variety of milks, water, coffees and teas were also on offer. It was sufficient but a bit more choice could be provided. They were pretty good at replenishing the buffet although on our last day they did run out of a couple of items at least 30 minutes before closing
Location: 5* Less than 5 minutes from nearest metro and buses that will take you anywhere you might want to go in Lisbon. We took bus 744 from the airport, which subject to how long one might wait is potentially a better option than the metro as there are lots of steps at Marques de Pombal station. Taxi back in the rush hour cost under 14 euros.
Value: Difficult for me to comment as we had a deal through Lastminute.com which for us was reasonable value but we weren't paying rack rate!
Overall, we had a great stay with a lovely touch of giving our friend who had a birthday a bottle of champagne. Based on our experience we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel or in staying there again if we revisited Lisbon

I had a wonderful stay in the hotel for four nights. When I reached Sevilla I realized I had forgotten my raincoat in the hotel room closet. I immeidately contacted the hotel and they told me they had my coat. I told them when I returned from my trip I would make arrangements to have the coat mailed to me.
Upon arriving in Barcelona I made contact with the hotel and they promptly mailed my coat to me free of charge.
In this time of uncertainty and loss of business I truly appreciate the hotel's kindness.
Thank you.

The hotel is clean and location is superb.
Front desk was very friendly and helpful during the day.
We were a bit surprised that hotel does not have an iron as it can be very important for the guests, so would be nice if next time there is an option to get the iron at least if necessary.
Overall it was good experience, except for the issue with the taxi and how the hotel rep during night shift handled the situation.
First time we ordered taxi through hotel notifying that we want to pay with credit card, the taxi driver refused to take the card but we were lucky to have cash to pay.
Second time we had no cash at all and asked that our hotel charge our card as taxi driver insisted that we pay cash, which we did not have.
Instead of taking our side and contacting taxi driver company to help to settle the bill, hotel representative was on a side of taxi driver insisting that we come up with cash to pay for taxi, which was very unprofessional as we have already stated that we have no cash and want to pay with the card.
When taxi driver and hotel representative (during shift night on November 4-5) realized that we indeed do not have cash to pay, hotel rep charged the credit card using hotel machine to pay to taxi driver. Why it was not done initially, is a big question.
Usually, when customers need cash or assistance, from my experience, hotel employees are trained to assist its guests and help to resolve the issue.
I hope that management will train its employees to avoid such situation in the future.
There is a reason people rent hotel so if necessary they can help and advocate for it's clients.
Otherwise, we might as well stay at Airbnb or rent through private parties.

We have spent 5 days my partner and I in this hotel. The hotel is perfectly located both with a metro mouth nearby and 10 minutes walk from the center. They had valet parking where you left the car and they put it in the parking lot, and at the end of the stay they raised it to the entrance without problem , price of 15€ per day for parking, it is something expensive but very normal for the price of parking in the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we had no problem with that.
My low note comes because of the cleanliness of the room that for me is one of the most important things and where you really see the level of the hotel, well , we find the day of arrival the floor of the bathroom dirty and with water, as if they had not cleaned, but that was not the worst, the terrible thing was to find stains on the sheets, in these things where it demonstrates the lack of cleanliness and hygiene of the hotel, with all the options to stay in the area, I would avoid this hotel and look at others of similar price , that there are many.
In short good staff service, hygiene and cleanliness of the lousy room.

Most of the reviews have some truth. The rooms look nothing like the pictures, and are just standard hotel rooms. They do not look recently refurbished, with cracked tiles and a warped door in the bathroom. The beds and pillows were very comfortable though. The rooms have a lot of street noise, even with the windows closed.
The breakfast was very poor, with cold, rubbery eggs, poor cereal choices, etc. The hotel needs to read the reviews and act on them. So many people in our group said the same thing.
Be warned, they do not supply milk in the bedroom, and then charged me for it! I was astonished. The man at reception literally shrugged his shoulders at me when I queried it. He might be the one referred to in another review. He was so rude.
We did not get our upgrade to superior for the 3 nights we stayed, which I was happy to pay for, and had been trying to organise for 4 months. They did not reply to my 3 emails, including using their pro forma on the website. We had moved hotel day by day over 10 days, and I was looking for a little luxury. I got comfort, but not luxury. Shame.

Over all experience in this hotel was excellent. Day staff was superb and friendly. Hotel restaurant was nice and reasonably priced. Hotel breakfast was well worth the price. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable
The desk responded to every request my party made—arranged an early morning request for transportation to the airport, assisted with a temporary luggage repair and provided detailed information concerning city highlights and directions.

The Marques de Pombal Hotel is a nice hotel which is well located for both shopping and tourist attractions. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is nicely assorted and should satisfy most individuals personal tastes. My only complaint about breakfast was the coffee: it was poor from both the machine and brewed dispenser. The restaurant has an outdoor patio. A guest can walk uptown or down to he river in reasonable time from the hotel’s location. Cafes and restaurants are also located nearby. The hotel’s staff is efficient and pleasant.

I arrived here at 10 in the morning with a small tour group, having completed a week travelling down the Atlantic coast. The front desk checked us in and stored our luggage and we were able to get our rooms by 1 o’clock, which I thought was very impressive. Staff were friendly on the front desk and in the bar. The lobby was a bit uninspiring & functional and the same could be said of the room which was fine for a stay in the capital when you don’t spend much time in it. The hotel is located within walking distance of downtown and tourist areas, but it’s also on a Metro line which can get you to these places quicker

Lovely hotel for a four night city break. Centrally located very close to the metro station and also the departure point for tourist bus tours. The staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful. We ate in the restaurant one night and again the staff were perfect. The room was fine but could do with a couple of towel hooks on the back of the bathroom door as it was difficult to ‘save’ the towels to use another day. Also a shelf in the shower would be very useful. Will definitely be back one day.
