Detailed Reviews
The Palacio Ramalhete was the perfect place to stay in Lisbon over the Christmas and New Year holidays. It was decorated for the season and the staff was great! The palacio is gorgeous and includes the best design features bringing together both antique and modern details. With old azulejos, three outdoor terraces, and antique paintings you feel the old world charm of the city. The contemporary paintings, modern lighting and beautiful bathrooms bring the best of new Lisbon design! Located in lovely Lapa, across the street from the classical art museum and with views of the Tejo River, it is the perfect place to relax after spending a day in the hustle and bustle of the city. There are several great neighborhood cafes, bars, tavernas and restaurants nearby and it is easy to catch a bus or street car to visit other areas. The staff was very helpful, warm, welcoming and professional. They helped us with reservations , travel tips and even arranged for us to have our complimentary sparkling wine on the terrace after we arrived. They give a 10% discount on your second stay and we will definitely be back!

Wow was my first thought when we checked into this hotel. We loved this property for our short stay in Lisbon. It is very peaceful and the staff are extraordinarily nice. We booked a basic category of rooms but were upgraded to one of the biggest suites for our stay. Our suite was larger than my first apartment. There is a very good daily breakfast and the mini-bar in the room is also good. A nice aspect of breakfast is you have the choice of eating on the inner courtyard outside or inside in the lovely public dining rooms. This is the perfect property to stay at if you do not like chain hotels and are looking for something a bit more elegant. What I liked best about this property was not only how luxurious a stay I had, but how at home I felt at the hotel.

We spent 5 nights here. It is a quirky set up that we loved, an old palace which has been made into a boutique hotel. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff could not do enough to make sure that everything was wonderful for us. (Especially Adam). There was always someone at the front desk, many offers to carry our luggage, give restaurant recommendations, make reservations, give directions or call a taxi. We walked everywhere from the hotel and loved the location. Ubers are cheap and plentiful. The hotel was placed under new management about 3 months ago.
The only cons were that sometimes we could hear the people in the room above us walking around. And the kitchen ran out of my favorites closer the end of the breakfast service.

The hotel is in a good place as you can easily walk into the main part of the city or get a bus from directly outside the hotel or walk a little way to get a tram. The building is very old and this is reflected in the lovely quaint rooms which had a nice feel to them, but the bathrooms were not great and ours was rather dingy with a dodgy shower. The beds, as in most hotels, were not comfortable and the same for the pillows. There being no lift and the stairs being fairly uneven, it was a struggle to carry our luggage up to our top floor rooms. No help was offered! Breakfast was good, with a perfectly adequate selection of pastries, bread and meats and cheeses. Would have loved better juices. The staff were very pleasant but were maybe a bit undertrained. The restaurant recommendations were a bit hit and miss, so would advise researching on Google for best experience. The bar was not manned and trying to get a post-dinner cocktail was quite a prolonged affair and the lad who made them didn't really have a clue how to make those we ordered.
We chose this hotel partly because it had a pool. However, the water was freezing and not a pleasant experience. Also having astroturf around it was a bit weird and there were not enough sunloungers.
With a few improvements, this could actually be a great place to stay. At the moment, despite it claiming to be a 5-star establishment, it is very much not up to that standard either in facilities or service.

We arrived around 8pm after a long travel day and immediately felt at home. We were met by the warm and helpful Tassilo who immediately walked our bags up to our room for us and then helped us make cocktails as if he were welcoming friends into his home. He gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner just 5 minutes away (and was helpful with meals and things to do in Lisbon during our stay, they were all excellent). If you are looking for a boutique hotel with the true feeling of Portugal, with an excellent staff, out of the touristy part of the city, but close to everything, this is the hotel for you!

Had a lovely stay here. The hotel is not obvious from the street but step inside and it’s a gem. Lovely rooms, friendly staff. There is no lift so it’s not for the physically challenged - it’s a long way to the top! We stayed in one evening, having had a late lunch, and just had drinks in one of the delightful lounge areas. My only criticism would be that it would have been nice to have some form of snack - some olives or mixed nuts, maybe. We were offered monkey nuts, which were not very pleasant. The only food to be had in the hotel was breakfast. That said, I would undoubtedly recommend the hotel - it would be lovely for a romantic break. It’s a 20 minute walk from the town, but the bus stop is right outside and there are places around to eat and drink.

Stayed at the Palacio Ramalhete for three days. The hotel doesn’t have parking but there is a nearby (pricey and does not accept international bank cards, even Mastercard and Visa!) safe underground parking garage if needed.
The hotel itself is very beautiful and somewhat deceiving from the outside - in the sense that it looks plain-ish until you enter and it really is a beauty. The setup, decor and detail throughout is lovely and location is reasonably convenient if you want to head into the centre. There are flights of stairs to navigate with luggage so be prepared to lift and shift.
A few bits that let the experience down included very thin walls, lack of staff (prepare to wait a very long time to have breakfast for example) and hotel missing an overall ambience.

+1
The understated front door gives little away to what lies inside, but from when that door opens, it's just a wow.
Friendly staff greeted and offered to carry the cases, but the bit that blew me away was when he led us through a delightful courtyard to our room(s). We were allocated the kitchen room. Beautifully furnished, polished stone floor, dressing room, and massive shower room.
The breakfast was easily one of the best we've had, from the selection of breads, yogourts soaked oats, avocados to the more traditional choices.
My only regret is we are not here longer.

The stay was fantastic, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is gorgeous and tastefully decorated. There is a pool with comfortable sun loungers, there is a large selection of cooked food for breakfast. I’ll be returning to stay in future.

We're staying here right now, 6 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby.
I didn't book the hotel so I didn't know what to expect. It's situated in a really old building with almost a hidden entrance...and I love it! The staff has been extremely friendly and helpful so far. Super charming, great little garden, great little pool area (a must when you travel with kids and hard to find in Lisbon).
Completely different experience from what we're used to for hotels but I would definitely recommend it.
If you're affraid of stairs this might not be the best choice for you...but if you're affraid of stairs, Lisbon might not be a good choice for you anyway!

We thank you for your contact and interest towards the Palacio Ramalhete.
Unfortunately the boutique hotel does not own a private parking space, this implies you would have rely on street parking. Depending on the hour and day it can be easy to find, as this is a residential area but also filled with embassies.
We hope this was useful, should you need more answers please do not hesitate to contact us by email or call on +351 213 931 380.
We would also like to thank the other guests for such kind words and advise!
Our kindest regards,
