A perfect location for touring the historic areas of Lisbon. The staff are friendly, courteous and go out of their way to help you. The rooms are comfortable and stylish. Breakfast at Brown's Central was plentiful and had something for everyone.

I paid just over £40 a night and can say without reservation that this is the best deal I have ever received on a hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent. Right in the heart of tourist central with the metro a 2 minute walk. There are loads of restaurants and cafes all around. On arrival the staff were...

My husband and I stayed here with a friend in two deluxe rooms which were spotless and very stylish. Beds really comfy and a coffee maker and kettle very welcome. We would have liked a bath but there are none in the hotel. The staff are outstanding - we asked for directions, dinner recommendations and reservation and got excellent service....

Great location near downtown area and tourist services. Wonderful and helpful staff. Room was a bit small but served its purpose. Get a room with a tub. Only $70 per night in winter! Close to good restaurants.

Room and bathroom big. Room had kitchenette facilities with a single cooktop and bar fridge with glasses, crockery and cutlery. Heating/air con in room hard to adjust though rain forest shower was great with large bath towels. Hotel also had free coffees/teas from Vending machine in Reception, and also Nespresso and tea-making facilities in room though limited to 2 Nespresso...

We had a great stay in this hotel in the center of Lisbon. The superior room is good sized with a comfortable bed, they also put a lot of effort in the design. The staff is just amazing, always ready to help. We would stay here again!

The location of the hotel is in walking distance to the heart of the Lisbon and is about a 10-15 minute walk to where the night life is. You get a free drink at one of their bars and their signature chocolate. The design is very modern and our room had everything we needed and more. They have a complimentary...

We spent New Year's Eve in Lisabon and stayed in this hotel. We enjoyed it a lot. The hotel is perfectly located. The rooms are rather small but charming. The hotel staff was very forthcoming and the given advice was on spot (e.g. restaurant recommendation).

We had a most fantastic 6 day trip to Lisbon. We stayed in Browns' Downtown- perfect position for seeing all the sites. The staff were truly impressive; helpful, accommodating, polite and welcoming. And available 24/7. The hotel was clean. My only criticism was controlling the water temperature on the shower - it was too hot. Unlike most hotels the breakfast...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
