I've been returning to Lisbon Destination hostel again and again since it opened. It really is fantastic and I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Lisbon. First of all the location is wonderful - in the very heart of Lisbon and with vibrant places to visit on its doorstep. The hostel itself is beautiful - the communal area is... More

Stayed at this hostel with a friend while backpacking around Portugal for three nights in late May early June. This hostel was awesome. Its location is great, at the top of the Rossio station making it very easy to access transportation. It's not far from the subway as well. The hostel itself is very fun, and it's got some really... I have stayed for a couple of nights at the main Destination Hostel. I had the opportunity to enjoy fully the hostel. The staff is cool and helpful, the rooms are clean and stylish, the building in the station is awe-inspiring. Thanks to a great quality/price ratio, I definitely recommend to spend some time at Destination Hostel.

Considering this is 'only' a hostel, this place offers great accommodation solutions! Location is perfect, very central, easy to reach from the airport via metro, in the train station from which you can leave for a day trip to Sintra. Rooms are nice, beds give you sufficient amount of privacy, linen (and towels!!!) are perfectly clean. Walls isolation is not... More

A very nice place to recommend. The rooms are clean and bright. Located in the Rossio train station and the subway location is perfect for visiting Lisbon. Excellent sound insulation and the top bedding allows a good rest after a day walk. The breakfast is exquisite and lovely staff. What happiness!

Location is excellent, it is at the Rossio Train Station (not metro), right in the heart of Lisbon. I was in a 6 bed female dorm and I love how you have curtains for your bed and a light and fan of your own, however I didn't meet any people here as I think it also kind of keeps you... More

By far this has been one of the best hostels ever! The atmosphere is cool! It has a unique and different location. It is near the underground and bus stops. The staff is so friendly (specially Bruno). There is a kitchen and the rooms are big and clean. It was a magnific experience to be here.

By far the best hostel I've ever stayed at! The rooms were clean and spacious, the common area was comfortable and fun, and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. In addition to all of that, the breakfast was great (and free!) and the activities that the hostel offered were very fun. We would definitely recommend their trip to Sintra,... More

From its unique location (inside a train station!), to its friendly and accommodating staff, to its unique interior, the clean common areas and clean rooms, there isn't anything not to like about this hostel. We'll be staying here again.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In July of 2011, smack in the heart of downtown Lisbon - Rossio - a new hostel is born. It could be just another hostel, except it's not. Housed in one of Lisbon's most beautiful and renowned buildings - the Rossio Railway Station - an undisputed icon of late XIX Century Romantic architecture (and which has recently undergone a profound facelift), Lisbon Destination Hostel is perched around a winter garden, where light filters down from the rooftop, harmoniously flooding the patio and creating an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat. We had planned on catering to a specific target, only to realize later that we didn't have to. We're confident that, between the ample first floor bedrooms (sleeping 4 to 8) with large windows overlooking the historic city, and the double rooms one floor up which peer out over the winter garden, you - whomever you may be - will find your niche. And if all this weren't enough, please note that, from our doorstep, you can take the train to the town of Sintra, a Unesco World Heritage Site just 20 minutes' ride away. Once you get there, you'll understand why. ... more   less
