The Avani Avenida Liberdade Lisbon Hotel has earned praise for its prime location, with guests appreciating its proximity to attractions and transport links. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with numerous travelers highlighting spotless, well-appointed rooms. However, opinions on room sizes and decor vary, with some guests finding them to be modern and spacious, while others feel they fall short and require updates.
While the atmosphere is generally regarded positively, the value proposition is contentious, with several guests deeming services overpriced. The amenities receive mixed reviews, with the central location and pool standing out, but some facilities are considered dated. Service staff at the hotel are consistently commended for their professionalism and friendliness.

When we arrived we were greeted so warmly & offered an upgrade of an extra room, interconnecting for our children. This was so appreciated. The coffee machine near reception was a nice touch also. The staff were so helpful in assisting us to plan our day trips. The house keeping staff were amazing too. Our room was always stocked with our favourite coffee pods and teas, and we loved coming back of an evening to freshly made beds and towels. The hotel is in a perfect location to shops, restaurants and transport. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning again some day. The staff are amazing.

The subway is 5 min on foot - The rooms have a good size, including the bathroom. Employees are super friendly too and willing to help. Breakfast is amazing!!
The bad part is that the shower doesn’t have a good pressure and the mattress, specially the extra one in the big family room, is not comfy.

We arrived at the hotel to a very warm and friendly welcome. We had booked a family room for 4 and were given a complimentary upgrade to adjoining rooms, which we were all very thankful for. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We checked in early evening and ask where was good to eat. We were recommended a local restaurant, A Gina, which we headed out to and really enjoyed our meal there. Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic, lots of choice. On an evening we visited the bar within the hotel restaurant. The staff were again very friendly the drinks were very reasonably priced for a city hotel. The hotel is perfectly located in the city and taxi trips are also very cheap if you want to venture further afield. I can be one to find fault in things, but this hotel was perfect for us and the amazing staff, who would go out of their way to talk to you and help with local knowledge, made it a great stay. Would definitely return.

Very friendly and helpful staff at reception - very good central location - set back, so there is little street noise.
Unfortunately, the building is pretty shabby and not very clean.
Black hairs greeted us on the bed and in the bathroom, the loud air conditioning blows lukewarm air.
The refrigerator was under water and had brown edges, the safe had no knob - we opened the door with a spoon... An old cigarette butt was stuck in the dirty window with a broken lock, the frame was dented.
It's nice that there is a Nespresso machine, but a shame that it has to rest on a cracked chipboard in the cupboard - unappetizing!
There was no toilet brush in the bathroom, the paper holder hung loosely in the wall, pointed downwards and couldn't hold a paper roll.
Breakfast was OK, even if it was exactly the same every day. Unfortunately the room was very dark - we were "thrown away" after the second course - despite having personal utensils and a room card on the table, everything was suddenly gone when we came back - despite the international symbols with crossed cutlery on the plate and napkin on the chair - you don't really feel like a guest!
Be careful at the pool - the waiter first offers you a generous amount of pastries ("would you like to try?") - and then comes back to pay (at an overpriced price)!
Is €10 for a beer at the pool hut actually a rip-off, or justified in any way...?

The location of the hotel is great, but the rest rather lala. The hotel looks bright and friendly on the Internet site, but nothing of that can be seen in the parking lot and certainly in the very small lobby. The rooms are old and in need of renovation and do not give rise to any cosiness and feel-good. The carpet was old and dirty and the one closet wasn't even enough for a large suitcase. The beds were overall ok and you could sleep without back pain. The air conditioning did not work properly - neither in the direction of cold nor in the direction of heat. At night we had to turn it off because of the volume and could not leave the balcony door open either, as the adjacent roof-top bar provided appropriate sound. In the bathroom the toilet brush was completely missing and the bathtub is actually not usable for elderly or walking disabled people with an entry height far above knee height without an entry aid. The breakfast buffet was rather average and unfortunately was not always replenished fast enough. The scrambled eggs only tasted artificial and we missed the normal egg taste a lot. Crispy bacon is always a challenge for Southern cuisines, which unfortunately this hotel kitchen has not mastered. It could have been a little more sausage selection and the salad bar was actually not there. Either just cucumber or just tomato in very small bowls and once we were lucky that there was also a bowl with a kind of mixed salad. The refilling of the offer did not always work out, but the two service staff did their best and also always tried to clear the used dishes and quickly re-cover the seats. Maybe a few more helping hands would have helped... However, we are most disappointed with the announcement on the website that we can use the wellness area of the very noble neighbouring hotel free of charge. It turned out here that this is only possible if you book a completely overpriced treatment (massages not under 100,- €) at the same time, but this should also have been reserved days in advance. For us a very weak picture for this price situation and feels like cheating on the customer for us!!! However, we still had very nice days in Lisbon, as the city offers many great places and places and we will definitely come back. Maybe in slightly warmer temperatures, but definitely with good footwear, as 1 kilometer in Lisbon means more than in any other city - an up and down with many stairs and even more steps - but still very, very nice :-)

The only thing that saves in the hotel is the location and the Japanese restaurant that has below (I did not eat but seems to be very good and expensive!)
The hotel is very simple and we stayed in a room for 2 people very small, scary! For the amount paid, I don't think it's worth it...
Breakfast is served in the Japanese restaurant and thus in a dark environment full of stairs (baby cart and elderly - get ready!!!). And one night we dropped a glass in the bath that broke and we asked for cleaning but only the next day, because in the hotel there was only the person in the reception (!!!!) - regrettable and do not recommend the accommodation!

We had an outstanding experience at the Avarni Hotel in Lisbon during our stay on August 2, 2024. From the moment we arrived, Nadia at reception made us feel incredibly welcome. Her extensive knowledge of Lisbon's top attractions was invaluable, and her personalized recommendations helped us make the most of our visit. Nadia's exceptional service truly set the tone for our stay.
The hotel's location is ideal, providing easy access to all the major sights and sounds of the city. We were able to explore Lisbon with ease, thanks to its central position.
Breakfast at the Avarni Hotel was fabulous, offering a delicious variety of options that catered to all tastes. It was the perfect way to start our day of exploration.
We highly recommend the Avarni Hotel and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Lisbon. The combination of great location, wonderful amenities, and Nadia's exceptional service made our stay truly memorable. Thank you, Avarni Hotel, for an unforgettable experience!
Thank you Steven & Michael (England)

When we checked in, we were told we would get an upgrade, a very good room, they said. If our room was a very good one, then I don't want to see the others. The promised call when the room was ready never came. When we got to the room, there was a thick, long, black hair in my bed. I spoke to the staff in the hallway about it and they made the bed very slowly, and my request for a second duvet and a small pillow was also granted, after an eternity of waiting. The room is really small and has black corners from mold. The bathtub in the bathroom is neither suitable for showering, because of the high entry and the lack of handles to hold on to, nor for bathing, because you have to get up to reach shower gel, shampoo or the tap. That's really annoying. But the worst is the room staff, today at 8 a.m. they hung a sign on the door handle asking for the room to be cleaned, came back at 4 p.m. and nothing happened. If you don't care about cleanliness, you're in good hands here. Breakfast is good and the location of the hotel is top.

On arrival cigarette ends all over the floor outside the entrance. Not swept up at all during our stay. Hotel tucked away behind sister hotel. To access you need to pass an area where staff seem to take their breaks. Not a clean area. The lobby 'sitting area' and restaurant entrance bear no resemblence to the bright lobby area shown on the hotel website. Large plants obstruct access to handrail on steps. Breakfast room is dark, table clearing minimal and staff did not acknowlege guests. Website states, 'Enjoy your room with a view to the lush gardens and cityscape'. Our view was of the upper part of a concrete wall covered in fake grass. Railings above with a large tree overhaning and touching the bedroom window and blocking out all daylight. Our small (but acceptable size) room was very dark. Black pictures, black woodwork, black tiles. Hanging space was no more than a cupboard with a sticking door. Not enough height to hang more than shirts/shorts. Dresses had to be hung on the mirror. Signed up to 'Go Green' by keeping towels and bedding for our three nights only to find that apart from emptying the waste bin and throwing a new bin bag on the floor and a quick wipe around in the bathroom, bedmaking was not included. Reception and Room staff do not seem to be on the same page when it comes to what is and is not to be done on their 'Go Green' system. Hotel 3 star at most.

We are a couple staying for 3 nights in an Avani Premier room. The room was generally ok in terms of cleanliness , but this is not a 4 star hotel. It misses all the details of a 4* : slippers, daily complementary water, bathrobe to name only a few. Access to the shower is quite tricky, you have to take care how you get in the bath tube or you risk to slip on it. The worse thing is the constant noise coming from the big 4 AC units located in the front of the hotel and on the façade of the adjacent building that makes sitting in the balcony impossible and even getting into the room with the closed door. We felt like almost slipping in a plane. Possibly the rooms facing the back of the building are quiet. The breakfast is rather basic and with ridiculously small amounts on the plates at the buffet site. The personnel at the reception desk is polite and helpful. Room A/C powerful but quite noisy.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We strive hard to provide great guest comfort and service to all of our guests and are disappointed when we fail to do so. I am surprised and disappointed to see that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I must inform you that the items mentioned for Premier rooms are available on request and the water and Nespresso coffees that are outside the minibar are free, all this information is available on the platform where you made the reservation and on your room TV. I understand that any explanation can change your feeling but we apologize for the inconvenience regarding the comment about the bathtub and the outside noise I will personally speak with the head of departments and make sure that these inconsistencies will not happen again in the future. I hope you will give us an opportunity to reconquer your confidence in our services. Best Regards Edi Pires Hotel Director

There was a hairdryer but I did not use it. I never think they are very powerful. I took a travel one of my own and used it in the bedroom. I think it depends on your hair style. It can’t have been that good as sometimes I do use the one provided but actually got mine out on this occasion. I have curly shoulder length layered hair so I do blow dry my style.
There are more places to choose from in the Lisbon area.
