The only surviving original Art Deco hotel in Lisbon, with a touch of modern whimsical nuances, this small hotel is unique. Dating from 1944 and designed by the famous Portuguese modernist architect Cassiano Branco, it retains its original soul. Meticulously recuperated , it was combined with nowadays technologies in order to offer all actual comfort. The Hotel Britania is perfectly located in a quiet street just off the exclusive Avenida da Liberdade.

During the week I spent in the hotel, the staff revealed itself to be very well-mannered and quick to advise destinations or testing sites. Rooms are of very good sizes. The breakfast offers a wide range of choices for internationals. The hotel is well furnished and decorated as it is one of the few remaining art-deco buildings in Lisbon. If you have time, stop by the tea area where they offer free drinks and pastries ; if you are the kind of person who likes to chat while drinking your afternoon tea, this is the right place. Go there for a memorable time in Lisbon.

Hotel's Favorite
We had such a nice stay here. It's a great location on a quiet street. The boulevard behind the hotel has high-end shopping (if you are in to that - we weren't) and the other parallel street has some nice restaurants and coffee places. That street leads down to a big commercial area. The breakfast was great with lots of options. I loved the art deco look throughout the hotel. Really stylish! The hotel was also immaculate! Every common area and rooms were very clean. Now the best part - the staff. They couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. All spoke English. I will stay here again when we come back.

I can't say enough nice things about our stay at Hotel Britania in Lisbon. The staff, the enormous and comfortable room, the breakfast, the location... It was all excellent. Very clean and comfortable with staff who make you feel like family. This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in Europe.

Excellent location and wonderful staff. This hotel is in a historic palatial building, beautifully restored and updated. It is on a quiet street one block off Lisbon's grandest street. Most of the main sights as well as the local train station and metro are a short walk. The staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. The breakfast was very good and the evening complimentary tea and port wine were great touches. Our room had a complimentary bottle of port wine too. Overall I would highly recommend and I would stay there again when we are back in Lisbon.

I had been travelling on a cruise when my travelling companion took I’ll and needed to be hospitalised in Lisbon . I was booked into the Britannia by the cruise company so wasn’t given a choice so was a bit dubious. However on arrival I was made to feel so welcome and throughout my week long stay this didn’t change. The staff are brilliant and so polite and accommodating. Don’t let negative reviews put you off. The hotel is spotlessly clean and breakfast is basic but plentiful. The decor is Art Deco and very interesting. Very central location and I will certainly stay again in better circumstances
