More like a 3 than 4 star establishment. The reception and waiting staff were a credit to the hotel but the cleaning staff could do a lot more than make the bed and give the surfaces they could see a wipe over and omit to clean the floor. The shower was great but the bathroom could be cleaner. There is no bar but there are two lounges where you can sit or outside if the weather is good but you still have to find a member of staff to order a drink which is very limited and overpriced, breakfast was adequate the main problem is the stairs from the entrance to the reception, not for the infirm and unfit they are also very slippery when it rains. All in all I would say the hotel badly needs a make-over.

My partner chose this hotel during our trip to Lisbon last December (2023). Although I was initially sceptical due to the location of the property (we normally choose hotels more towards Time Out Market and surrounding areas), my concern was laid to rest by the fabulous stay we had there for four nights.
The property itself is only a 15 minute walk towards Time Out; furthermore, we came across a number of bars and restaurants along the way (if choosing the higher streets away from the rail track).
The room we stayed in was just right - not too big, not too small. Comfortable bed, bathroom was fine. The best part of it all? How quiet the room was, especially at night. Absolute bliss for a good nights sleep!
Staff were friendly, and always on call.
The only downside? The amount of steps to get to the hotel entrance itself. Not a worry for my partner and I; however, could be a problem for those who have issues walking.
Would definitely recommend.

We were recommended to stay at the York House Hotel by a contact who lives in Cascais. It is situated in the Santos area of the city, about 20 minutes walk from the central area of Baixa. The hotel is housed in a beautiful old building, full of character, wonderfully renovated and is absolutely charming. The staff were efficient and helpful. The room we had was very spacious with sitting area and a large bathroom with a substantial power shower and a bath. Outside is a pretty courtyard where breakfast can be served. A real find.

York House is a really lovely and unique property. Very spacious room, extremely comfortable bed and high quality linen. The breakfast offer is very good, plenty of choice, lovely fresh fruit and lots of homemade bakes. The courtyard is a beautiful area, available for breakfast in the sun or a comfortable rest in the shade later in the day. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside is the stair way climb up from the street, pretty difficult with luggage. We found it a bit of a trial, could possibly be difficult for the less mobile. Also there wasn't a bar, although drinks could be ordered from reception and provided to the courtyard. York House is very convenient to several bus stops and a short walk to the metro and train station. There are many bars and restaurants in the area, you are spoilt for choice. We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat.

York House is a well situated hotel. close to the historic centre of Lisbon. It is a short walk from all the main tourist attractions, but far enough away to provide a peaceful haven. An old converted convent, the common areas and rooms make you feel that you are a house guest of a wealthy great aunt.
The bedrooms are spacious, with a capsule coffee machine & complimentary water. We particularly enjoyed the complimentary Port & Pastel de Nata, served in the downstairs drawing room.
The breakfast was ample & varied, with good fresh bread & fruit. The outside courtyard was cooling after a long walk.
There is a long walk up from the roadside to reception & I didn't see a lift. This would be an obstacle to the less able bodied.

A few steps from the extraordinary Ancient Art Museum, and also a few steps from the very lively French Cultural Institute, this hidden place looks like an old posh villa. Climbing up a steep stairs you reach a magic garden full of flowers and evergreen plants. My room on the first floor facing the courtyard was spacious, quiet and friendly. A romantic trip to a forgotten past. Bravissimi!

Staff friendly and helpful, beautiful period house. Relaxing patio area, nice selection for breakfast. Initial issue with room was dealt with quickly to our satisfaction.

Note, it is a period house which adds to the ambiance, it's limited with regards food, drink offerings but you may not be hanging around the hotel when you've Lisbon to explore.

Lovely old atmospheric hotel. This is full of charm not a swish international hotel and the price reflects that. Breakfast has a great selection. Our room is huge and spotless. The bathroom is slightly worn decor.
The only down side is it is not totally central, but there is a bus and tram stop almost outside and once you get the hang of them it’s easy.

I travelled to Lisbon for professional reasons and chose the hotel solely for the location - it was an absolute stroke of luck.

Beautiful rooms, very clean, super friendly staff - what more could you want. Many nice restaurants and also Museun are right in the area if you want to do more than work.

I can only highly recommend the hotel and will - if I come back to Lisbon - definitely book it again.
