We stayed four nights at this amazingly wonderful hotel. We actually felt like we were staying in a palace. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was fabulous filled with some many things to choose from. Everyone working at this beautiful hotel are nice, helpful and very attentive. The hotel location is perfect. Walking distance to central Lisbon. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon.
We recently spent 5 days at the Avenida Palace and it was a joy from the time we arrived till the time we left. Our room on the 6th floor was quite large and extremely quiet during the day and at night. The only sound we heard at all was the gentle rumble of trains going under the building, which was actually kind of relaxing, like a distant rumble of thunder. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was big, and -- unlike many older hotels -- there were plenty of outlets, including on both sides of the bed. The Wifi was fast and reliable. The room was absolutely impeccably clean. All the staff was friendly, especially the hostess at the breakfast buffet. Speaking of breakfast, it was a great way to start the morning each day with a huge choice of tasty food. The fruit, bread and pastries, and juices were especially good. Servers were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It was our first time in Lisbon and the location is perfect for exploring the city. The old part of town is nearby, though up a steep hill and/or set of stairs, like everything else in Lisbon. Lots of shops and cafes nearby, including a couple of pharmacies and a supermarket. The train station and a Metro station are at the hotel's doorstep. We were there during the terrible heatwave, and the A/C struggled a bit to keep things as cool as we would've liked, but when it's 103 degrees in a city that's not designed for that kind of heat, you can't blame the hotel! If it had been a more reasonable 93 I expect the A/C would've been perfectly fine. We walked most places we went, though when we got too hot or just didn't want to deal with the hills, we took an Uber and I think the most expensive ride anywhere we went was less than €7. As nice little touches, one day the hotel left us a reusable cloth shopping back to take with us during our travels, and another day they left a folding fan that we took with us out and about. They provide a cellphone to borrow during your stay so you don't have to get a local SIM card or whatever, but we didn't use it. Finally, our Lisbon trip was at the end of a longer European visit, so we took advantage of the hotel's laundry service. It was very cheap for a luxury hotel in a world capital. We had a whole bag of t-shirts and socks washed, dried, and folded for a total of about €28. We left them in the room when we went out for the day around 10am and they came back around 4pm the same day, folded immaculately in a nice wicker basket and smelling fresh. We will definitely stay at the Avenida Palace the next time we are in Lisbon. It's a perfect home base for exploring a magnificent city.…
This hotel is stunningly beautiful and you could not pick a better location. Our room had views of Rossio Square and the castle, which was gorgeous at sunrise. The breakfast is varied and delicious, and all the services (bellhop, breakfast, Bruno in the bar, etc.) are just wonderful. The bed was quite firm, so be aware of that, but I would sleep on just about any surface to have this incredible location and top-notch service. They left surprises in our room according to the weather and holidays, which were the cherry on top. Thank you, Hotel Avenida Palace, for a memorable stay in Lisbon!
Perfect location for a visit in Lisbon. The hotel has an unique combination og fin-de-siecle charm and modern comfort. The location is second to none. Excellent service! On very short notice the concierge found a restaurant for the same night. On the day of departure was parts of Lisbon closed and it wasn´t possible to get a taxi to the hotel. The porter took our luggage and followed us to another part of the city where we could get a taxi. We will shurely return to this fantastic hotel.
We were so happy with our choice of hotel in Lisbon. We had a terrible flight experience from the US to Lisbon thanks to British Airways, arriving more than 7 hours late into Lisbon. We were ready for anything at the hotel, but finally everything when smoothly. Easy check-in, wonderful staff from start to finish. Room was great, hotel was super clean, historic and perfectly located to enjoy the city on foot. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was another highlight. We can't say enough good things about the hotel and staff.
This hotel is centrally located, it’s absolutely beautiful and elegant. The rooms are super clean, tidy and have a lot of charm. The staff made the stay, as I am a solo female traveller they made me feel safe, attended to and relaxed. The bar staff were awesome - shout out to Hugo who had some great recommendations and was an awesome conversationalist. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great place to stay.
The Avenida Palace was a wonderful place to stay during our week in Lisbon. The location was perfect for restaurants, pastelarias, shopping, the Rossio station, and metro station. The room was clean. The amazing staff made every effort to make our stay enjoyable
The Avenida Palace is an excellent hotel in downtown Lisbon. We spent six days there and never regretted the choice. It is elegantly decorated and provides top notch service for their guests. It is classy but not standoffish. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. Early in the stay I found that the adapter for my iPhone that I brought was not correct. The doorman went out and bought the right one for me and brought it back 10 minutes later. He was terrific. The rooms are beautifully classic with sitting areas throughout that remind me of early 20th century elegance. The breakfast is very good with a variety of food. The location is, in my opinion, the best in the city. Close to the metro, Avenue Liberdade and the Chiado neighborhood (my favorite in Lisbon). The only downside was that there was no restaurant in the hotel - though this is very minor issue since there are so many great places to eat within a very short walk. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here the next time we visit this amazing city!…
This hotel is wonderful - a perfect choice for our 1 week stay in Lisbon. It is ideally located - walking distance from most sights, lots of restaurants nearby, close to meeting places for most day tours. It is quiet at night and gives us good undisturbed sleep. However, if you need to rest in the afternoon, you may be disturbed by internal noises of cleaners doing rooms and corridors. There’s definitely benefits to book directly with them as we got upgraded to a junior suite, 20% off from their bar. They also provide a local phone and complimentary 30 minutes international call everyday which is very handy. There’s a gym which we used though I think they need to add better equipments and weights for it to be seriously viewed as a good functional gym. The staff are courteous and efficient. Breakfast is good. The place is decorated in old grandeur- a difference from many new hotels nowadays. Highly recommended hotel.…
We were completely amazed by this hotel! Absolutely more than we could ever expect. A converted palace with beautifully decorated rooms and very attentive staff. Breakfast was incredible! The room was equipped with an umbrella, a cell phone, complimentary water daily, shopping bags, pastels de nata, coffee/tea, and slippers. The porters were amazing. The location is perfect! We will definitely stay here again when we return to Lisbon!!
