The place is very calm despite the train station nearby. We haven't heard a train during our stay. Excellent sleeping conditions, really nice breakfast served at the table (no buffet because of the covid). Room are made up regularly and the personel is very friendly and helpful. We had to leave at 7am with breakfasts starting at 7. No problem, they brought a continental breakfast to our room at 6.15am.
Due to Covid 19 we were unable to stay at the hotel but I wanted to share that communication from the Hotel Avenida Palace was outstanding, as one might expect from a truly wonderful hotel. Our monies were promptly and cheerily refunded to us and all communications with the hotel were professional and even a few were inspiring. We will return to Portugal when travel becomes possible again and look forward to staying at the Avenida Palace when we do. Some hotels excel in every aspect aspect of their business, and this seems to fit the Avenida Palace exactly.
The hotel location is few minutes walking distance to most of attractions and several good quality restaurants. Loved the rooms the main restaurants, decorations that make you feel you are living in an elegant historical palace. Concierge team are very helpful and friendly, they helped me to make a surprise birthday party for one of our family members, preparing a delicious fresh baked birthday cake as I couldn’t find on Christmas Eve open shops To buy. Breakfast is good. Rooms and bathrooms are quite clean and well maintained. Loved it. We spent one week, it passed quite fast. Will definitely come again. Amazing! Thank you so much for the excellent service.
We selected this hotel for its great location. Close to public transportation and downtown attractions and streets. Many excellent restaurants in the area too. However, the breakfast is incredible. The hours are very generous for serving and the buffet is the nicest breakfast selection we have ever seen. All was wonderful. The hotel has a few quirky dated attributes but they are not inconveniences when you consider the history of the hotel.
We had 5 nights B&B at the Avenida Palace, and enjoyed every minute. On arrival we were upgraded to a top floor suite with views over both the Praca Restaudores and the Praca Dom Pedro as well as the City. The hotel was built at the end of the 19th Century in the belle époque style and is ornately decorated including stained Art Nouveau glass. The public areas are grand, especially the main lounge and bar areas and our suite was spacious. it is centrally located within walking distance of all the main squares and central Lisbon attractions. it is 20 minutes drive from the airport, but because of a taxi strike on the day we arrived, we took the metro, a very easy journey to the metro stop Restauradores (Blue Line), some 100 metres from the hotel. The aerobus also stops nearby as does the hop on - hop off bus. The hotel is right next to the Estacao Central Do Rossio for the national rail network. (try a day trip to Sintra if you have time). There are many restaurants close by for evening meals As expected the breakfasts and service were excellent and the staff, especially the concierge were most helpful. Since our visit the hotel has never failed to acknowledge both our birthdays and Christmas. if we ever go back to Lisbon, we know where we will be staying. Enjoy the splendour!…
