Staying here was a dream come true. I even asked my girlfriend to marry me on the roof of the palace with the greatest view of the city (didnt plan it but it was too beautiful to pass on it) The service was top of the top. Cant think of a better place to stay. Xavier at the servicedesk was a hero for attending our every need. There are only 6 suites in the palace. The rooms are renovated and perfectly modern in function but with the class and beauty of old. There are quite a few steps to take so ask if they help you with luggage if youre not able. The breakfast was delicious and better than any breakfast you can get in the city.

This beautiful hotel started as a private residence built by a successful coffee merchant. Rooms are named after his daughters and nieces and was built above Lisbon’s first public clean water fountain. The style here is classic elegance. Rooms are large and well appointed. We stayed in the ‘Lola’ Room with high ceilings, separate lounge area and a fantastic view of the river. This hotel has buckets of charm and is very basic in its services. No room service, bar area and some of the other amenities you would expect from a typical hotel. Think of it more as an upmarket bed and breakfast, with WiFi. The Alfama area is also full of locals and great Fado Bars as well as lunch spots. About a 15-20 minute walks to Barrio Alto and other more central sights. Really feel like we have been transported back in time and enjoyed every second of this Alfama Portuguese experience.

If you like old world charm, this hotel is for you. The hotel only has 6 rooms and beautiful breakfast terrace. It is in a great location - walking distance to many of the tourists attractions. Friendly staff and the breakfast was very good. My only negative is the couch in our room was a bit worn, but the room was spacious and clean. We would definitely stay there again.

This place is full of beautiful art nouveau finishings, truly truly beautiful, but alas I cannot recommend that you stay here. The main reason is I stayed 3 nights and not once did I get a good nights sleep. The bedroom has a wall that looks over the main corridoor of the hotel and thus, you can hear every conversation had in the lobby or at reception. There really is no decent sleep to be had. Also, the room had two couches that were absolutely revolting. They were heavily stained all over with God knows what and were and are an absolute disgrace. There were small insects crawling all iver rhem too, I cannot undere stand why the hotel has not replaced them, they are completely unacceptable. I fell that, if you could just visit this place, that would be lovely...but having to stay here? Alas, no. I cannot recommend it as it is an old building that is not sound proofed in any way and I never slept. Beautiful style over substance.
