I stayed in one of the larger rooms (#102) that had a small kitchen area. On the whole, I loved the room - Nespresso (big plus), great size (28 sq m according to Web site, and it felt it), lots of space to spread stuff out in and on, bed was huge and very comfy. But, the room lacked the... More

The staff on reception were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. The hotel was very well located within easy walking distance of major attractions and transport. Very close to the metro station so convenient to reach the airport or Oriente train station. Our room had a small kitchen which we didn't actually use but would be useful if we... More

We came to Lisbon for a week away and decided to stay at Brown's. The room was spacious, with a 2 ring electric hob, TV (with DVD player!), fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker and even a washing machine! Even though we were only on the 1st floor, just above the burger bar attached to the hotel, you couldn't hear (or... More

We stayed at BBH for four nights and absolutely loved it! They are in a great location, easy to walk to Barrio Alto, Chiado and the Alfama. Not to mention just a few blocks from the waterfront. They let us check in early, which was so nice after a long day of travel. My husband lost his wallet in the... More

The hotel is located close to Rossio Square (metro station) and also close to the trams station. We had some issues with the reservation but they sorted it all out very quickly. The breakfast is very good and rich and they also have a terrace where you can grab a drink on the hot summer days. It is a lovely... More

A quirky boutique hotel in a great part of Lisbon, very close to the Praca Comercio. Nice brasserie in th lobby. We booked a superior double room. It was very cramped due to it having a fridge, hob and washing machine, as well as all the more essential things, like a bed. Always a bad drain smell when you came in.... More

We had 4 nights in this hotel and loved it. Room 401 is actually a small apartment and comes with coffee maker, fridge, iron, electric hob and washing machine. Also provided are an ipad and sound system. The room is large with a king size bed. The air conditioning worked well with a choice of ceiling fan or thermostatic controlled... More

My experience in one room, one day. There will never be another. Small room, poor ventilation. Intense overhead light either on or off. Requested a bedside reading light so my partner could sleep. Never got a response, staff didn't care (probably not part of their training ) hope the temp is just right as otherwise the fan blows cold or... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
