A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Dear Mary W, We are delighted to notice that you are considering staying with us at Corpo Santo Lisbon Historical Hotel. Concerning your requests bellow, you can arrive from the airport to the Hotel by: Private transfer service – If you wish to book this service, please send us your flight details (flight number, airline name, and estimate time of arrival in Lisbon); Taxi – At the airport arrivals, you are going to find a lots of taxi drivers waiting for you. Uber – In Lisbon the Uber app works very well and it offers a better-quality service than the taxis, since the drivers speak English and their cars are brand new. Metro (public transportation) – at airport metro station, take the red line in direction of São Sebastião and get off at Alameda Station. Switch to green line in direction of Cais do Sodré station and exit at the last stop. Then you have only to walk 5 to 5 minutes flat, until getting the Hotel. Aero Bus nr 1 – Every 20 minutes you have one of these buses passing at the airport arrivals and you exit at Cais do Sodré train station (stop nr 10). Concerning our location, we are next to the downtown area of the city (5 minutes walking distance from Baixa and Chiado), and very close to the river (5 minutes walking distance). Warm regards, Joana Melo Guest Service Manager

Dear stargazer, I hope this message finds you well. Thank you very much for your interest regarding the Corpo Santo Hotel. Concerning your request, Lisbon city is very hilly, specially if you wish to visit and explore the most typical neighborhoods (Castle area, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Bica etc.). However the Hotel area is flat (our Hotel is located on the lowest part of the city, at the Tagus river height) and you can use taxis that could drive you arround the city, tuk tuks for doing tours, and Uber service that works really well. I hope my answer will help you to make your decision. Warm regards directly from our sunny Lisbon, Joana Melo Guest Service Manager

"It doesn't matter"
"Our room was facing the street behind and was extremely quiet. Other rooms face the square in front, with traffic and trams, may be noisier?"
"I had a basic room. It was quite roomy, and the modern bathroom was great."
"upper floor facing side street may be less noisy."
"Higher floors might have less noise from the street, although we didnot have problems with this. Some rooms have charming balconies."
