At 1908 we welcome people from all over the world, we are hotel, restaurant and bar, but we are also an art gallery permanently evolving. While Art Nouveau shines in all its splendour outside in the building facade, inside its references are only in the works of art. Featuring pieces by contemporary Portuguese artists who were invited to reinterpret the building and help bring it to the our days.

My mother and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. From when we booked this hotel until we left, the reception staff who has excellent English were so helpful and friendly, from arranging airport transfers to restaurant recommendations/ bookings.

The room and bathroom were lovely. We overlooked the small square and found it quiet at night. The bed was extremely comfortable. Toiletries and a good hairdryer are provided. On the first night we returned back to sweet treats and port in our room... a lovely touch. One little recommendation... to add a mirror to the room. There are 3 mirrors in the bathroom including a full length one but none in the bedroom itself.

We had breakfast included and we were delighted we had. Selection of breads, sweet treats, fruit, juices, cereal, meats, cheeses, and hot food to order including eggs and pancakes. The breakfast staff were also so helpful.

We found the location great but it may be a little far from the main tourist areas if you don't like walking too much. As a previous reviewer said wear good, non-slip footwear for walking as the paths are uneven and when it rains the paths can get especially slippy. It's near (5 min walk) a metro station and the famous Tram 28. There's a supermarket 2 min walk from the hotel.

Would definitely stay here if I return to Lisbon :-)

We haven’t been treated so good in many many holidays

We would definitely come back to 1809 Hotel when visiting Lisbon again.

They have such a wonderful service. The staff is very warmth, kind and willing to help at any time. They would do any reservation we need or give us any advice throughout the 24/7 wapp chat they have for guests. They gave us very good recommendations of places and restaurants to visit.

Fantastic bedroom with very good complementary treats.

My wife is vegan and they did amazing at the kitchen to provide excellent food to her. It was also her birthday and the staff prepared a beautiful surprise for her including a vegan cake. This was very much appreciated.

We could use their free car park outside the hotel just in front of the the main door.

They also have a very comfortable family room where we could use to do some work. They even provided the adaptors for charging the the laptops.

They are very well prepared for Covid-19. They provided us with face masks and perfect size bottles of sanitiser gel that we could take with us while doing tourism in the city. All the staff is wearing the face masks constantly and they desinfectada every surface we a were getting in contact with such as tables, from desk, lifts, etc.

Special thanks to André who was willing to help all the time and make our time in Lisbon so special. He wanted us to feel like home, but it was really more than that.

My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of our five nights at 1908 Lisboa. Our accommodations were clean, quiet and comfortable, the breakfast buffet was outstanding, and all of the service was friendly and professional. We particularly appreciated the enthusiastic assistance and recommendations provided by Andre, who effectively functioned as our concierge during our stay. He welcomed us with a glass of wine, gave us helpful advice about places to go and booked our train tickets for an excursion to Porto.

By way of a couple of ancillary notes, this hotel is located in a transition zone between Lisbon's historic area and a bustling modern zone. The immediate surrounding area is a bit shopworn in appearance, but we found it perfectly safe and had no concerns about walking to the Rossio train station and other nearby shopping and sightseeing. Ramiro, the convivial seafood restaurant across the street is popular with locals, and well worth a visit, as is Josephine's, the bar just across the plaza. Finally, it's worth mentioning that Lisbon is a terrific Uber city; rides appear within minutes after booking and are very economical.

We visited the 1908 Hotel for the weekend of the 6th March, we arrived to a warm welcome from hotel staff which included a welcome drink and when arriving at our room cakes and a little glass of port each. We stayed in room 205 which overlooked the road at first I thought this may cause a problem with traffic but in fact it didn't we did not hear a thing from the road during the night. We were shown to our room which was spacious, with a large bathroom. The hotel was situated central to everything we wanted to do and was along the famous 28E tram route which is a must for people visiting Lisbon. The bar downstairs provides excellent cocktails and would highly recommend a visit to give them a try. Breakfast is a buffet style but also fresh cooked items to order from. Staff were always friendly and polite and always willing to help. We will definitely coming back to 1908 in the future, thanks to all that made our stay perfect.

There are undoubtedly visits that cannot fail to be made in Lisbon, one is undoubtedly a complete tour on tram nº 28, another is the visit to the Medieval castle and the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon and the oldest in Europe: ALfama, with the its typical streets full of movement. What a great Hotel. Even at this busy time (it was the Festival of St. Anthony – sardines everywhere) the busy staff still went out of their way to help.
Andre, Caterina and Joanna elevated this hotel.
We arrived early so we left our luggage – Caterina moved it to our rooms when they became available. What great service! The included breakfast (served by Joana) was healthy and abundant.
Andre helped with directions and helped us manage Portugal during a two-day festival (he suggested we visit LX Factory – glad we did not miss it)
Many of the hotels we stayed in on our trip to Portugal, suffered from form over function - they would look modern and sleek but there would be nowhere to hang your towel nor a shelf for the soap – little, but practical things. Happily, this hotel 1908 Lisboa had been both well designed and thought out – it looks good, and everything works….
The smallish but functional rooms were modern and decorative with all the functionality you need, a shower that wets you, somewhere for toiletries and enough plugs for any modern charge-aholic.
Couple this with the attentive, friendly, and fun staff and you have hotel we recommend

We chose the 1908 Lisboa Hotel based on online reviews and travel articles and stayed there four nights in September. We were not disappointed! This was our first visit to Lisbon and the hotel location enabled us to to reach most destinations with a moderate walk. Since it is close to the Indente Metro, we could easily get to and from the airport. The building has been recently renovated and the rooms were clean, well designed and comfortable. The entry level restaurant is welcoming and breakfast there each morning had a large variety of quality food options. Above all, the staff was professional and friendly. They helped us with all our needs and as a result we had plenty of time to explore and enjoy the city. We will definitely stay again when we return to Lisbon!

We stayed in May at the end of our trip to Portugal and after a long two years of going nowhere.
Located in a mixed but starting to be gentrified part of the city this hotel really stands out. Very walkable to lots of spots and so close to public trams, busses, and metro in every direction. This award winning hotel, built in 1908 and fully restored and re-opened in 2017, we felt pampered from check in to check out.
André and Carolina bent over backwards to help us navigate this wonderful city. From booking and printing out tickets in advance to helping us get into the fabled and always booked up Cervejaria Ramiro across the street, Andre gave new meaning to the word “hospitality.” We are forever grateful for his personal attention.

We stayed in room 207 which was a Superior Plus and worth paying the extra for if you stay for a number of nights. Facing the square, it was still fairly quiet once you closed the windows. A small balcony off the bathroom is perfect for two people to enjoy a glass of something cold and watch the world unfold below.
They provide a free large bottle of water every morning. As well, we were given a voucher for a welcome drink Which we enjoyed at the the outdoor bar/terrace below. It’s little things like this that are important.
Breakfasts were not only bountiful, with the usual array of fruit, breads, spreads, yoghurt, cheeses, meats, and pastries but they’ll also make you fresh eggs any way you like them. From scrambled to poached to Benedict. Perhaps the best breakfast we’ve had in Europe.
Victor helped us every morning. His welcoming smile and the strong espressos he brought us without asking once he got to know our preference, was the perfect tonic to start the day.
Once again the little things.
Rooms were cleaned daily and shower pressure was very good. Beds ensured a good nights sleep.
We ate at the hotel resto, Infame, one night outdoors, and it was delicious. Afternoon drinks on the patio. A lovely spot to take a break and unwind after a long day of navigating the sights.
We’d stay here again in a heartbeat on our next visit to Lisbon.
You should too.

We loved this hotel. The staff was very nice and friendly. The decor of the whole hotel was excellent, very modern. We found there was coffee and tea in the room, along with two small bottles of port with pasteries in the room. Staff also gave us a voucher for complimentary drinks at the bar, however, we did not take advantage of this, but definitely do because the bar area looks really cool! Our room was very nice; the room was a good size with a place for our coats and luggage. A small desk near the window. The bathroom was really big which was great, however for the size of the bathroom the shower was small. But that's ok. We loved our stay! Please note that this hotel is not very close to the main tourist areas. It took us 15-20 minutes to walk to the coast.

And we loved having you in it! Next time, be sure to take advantage of the drink offer at the bar, it is a space, as you say, very pleasant and with a "good wave". For those who prefer not to walk, we have a metro station very close to any point in the city, but as you say, to the downtown area it is about a 15-minute walk, to the oldest neighborhood in the city: Alfama, with its medieval castle, it is 10 minutes. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon. greetings from our staff 1908 Lisboa Hotel

We stayed for some days at the 1908 Lisboa. The hotel is beautiful designed. Beds are really comfortable. Rooms fairly small, which would be ok, but there is hardly no place to store your clothes and suitcase. Bathrooms are nice, but I’m missing again something where you can put your staff. There is also no hanger for towels! You can only place towels on open door to dry.
Biggest downside of hotel is noice! Friday evening a lot of people are celebrating in front of hotel. Sunday night 4am loud music is played in neighboring bar. In morning traffic starts.
Staff is really nice.
I wouldn’t stay here again because of constant noise.

Thanks to the amazing reception staff, we had a great time in Lisbon. They do not try to push the restaurant's hotel (which is quite good btw) but give you great recommendations. This hotel is also well located. We did all our travel on foot to the popular tourist attractions.
Also, the hotel lends you a phone which is especially useful if you want to use Google Maps without killing your data plan.
The room was very clean and comfortable, and they provided a very comfortable single bed for our child.
Free water bottles (but tap water is drinkable in Lisbon).
There's a dark makeup removal facecloth provided alongside regular toiletries.
No bathtub in our room - to keep in mind if traveling with young children, ours is older so not a problem.

Great attention to detail overall!

I made the trip from Lisbon Orient Station (Gare do Oriente) to Porto. This station was about 15-20 minutes from downtown Lisbon. It is a clean station in a more modern part of town and easy to make connections. Food is available if you take the early train. Both downtown train stations are connected by Metro but Metro service does not start until 6 am so I took a taxi for 15 euros.
