This is a real gem in Lisbon. We have stayed here twice now on two separate trips and would not stay anywhere else(if you are looking for a hostel). The service is friendly and it has a great atmosphere. There are home cooked (Mamas) dinners that you can sign up for each night. Everyone sits around big tables and eats... More

The hostel truly becomes your home just in the minute you arrive, Mama and staff's kindness and hospitality is incredible. I was traveling alone through Portugal and I made lots of friends here, it was like doing my second erasmus for a few days. Im truly grateful for everything and oh those delicious dinners! Book right away!

Stayed in a few hostels during our trip to Portugal and can say Home Lisbon Hostel is by far the best. Very friendly staff, works the place in 'family run' style, excellent service befitting the name and very clean place. Location is exactly where you want to be while in Lisbon. Its a 4 min walk from Baixo-Chaido Metro station.... More

This hostel is a brilliant place to stay in Lisbon. My flight was significantly delayed into the city and I didn't arrive at the hostel until 2am. I was greeted with a warm welcome and a shot of cherry liqueur. I was given a key, which is an automatic wristband... very convienient if you are good at losing keys. The... More

Below is a rundown on the main parts of the hostel: Employees - They were extremely nice and helpful! They recommended things for us to do and helped us figure out how to get there! They have a walking tour every morning and other activities that you can sign up for, but we didn't get a chance to since it... More

Fantastic hostel - great atmosphere, really friendly staff. Beds were very comfortable and showers were brilliant (very important of course). We arrived at 9am from an overnight train, they let us shower before we were even checked in and again before we left on the last day after we had checked out. They go above and beyond :)

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
