Really lovely hostel in the center of Lisbon - would highly recommend. This is not a party hostel but they have activities (ie wine tasting) every evening so if you want to be social you can be! The hostel its self is beautiful and clean with kitchen / lounge area which guests are free to use. The only negative was... More

This place was amazing - definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The staff was awesome. I loved the nightly activities - I took part in the tapas and bar crawl. I had such a great time meeting and going out with people all over the world. This hostel is one for the record books! The rooms were also... More

Very reasonable accommodation with great facilities for any traveller. I stayed here with 2 friends and we were all pleasantly surprised. I'd never stayed in a hostel before and easily recognised that it was better than any hotel I'd stayed in with staff willing to help on any sightseeing matters, different events planned for every evening and a decent social... This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in! The location is really central, near several train and metro stations, as well as a few minutes walk from the river. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and learned my name after the first introduction. The building is beautiful, rooms are large (I stayed in the 6... More

Alex and the rest of the team were just exceptional...made us feel incredibly welcome and took us on an outing to a fado bar the night we arrived, which was lots of fun. The room was very large and very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Location is perfect.

This is a very nice hostel. The staff was very welcoming and seemingly knew the name of every guest at the hostel. There were events organized each night for you to participate in if you wanted. I was rather surprised when I entered my room to discover that each of the wooden padlock lockers had a private combo safe for... More

Very hospitable environment. Perfect location, just minutes away from most tourist attractions and city landmarks. The rooms are clean and the building is a historic one. Very helpful and friendly personnel, organising collective events and always ready to respond to queries and possible requests, in particular Jeorge who from minute one made us feel at home and was very amiable... Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
