My husband and I stayed in the Lisbon Story Guesthouse a week ago for 3 nights. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. On our arrival we were greeted by Miguel and upgraded to a different room which was really nice. The winning point of the guesthouse was the location, Rossio is a perfect location for "on foot" city sightseeing. It's...

Lisbon Story Guesthouse is the place you want to stay while visiting Lisbon. It’s an easy ride on the AeroBus from the airport and a short simple trip on the metro to the Estação de Santa Apolónia. The place is central, clean, and comfortable. There is a kitchen you can use to cook (remember to clean after yourself) and store...

We only stayed here for one night and wished we had longer in Lisbon, but I cannot reccommend this place enough! Great location right in the heart of things, nice clean bathrooms, great breakfast, great staff, really laid back and friendly. We had booked the smallest, cheapest room as we were only there for a night, but it was great,...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisbon Story Guesthouse. Excellent location, clean rooms and bathrooms, extremely friendly and helpful stuff, excellent English spoken, very prompt in replying to e-mails. And lots of toys in the common room for our three-year-old to play with so we could enjoy our breakfast in peace!

Excellent little guest house with a personal feel and smack-bang in the centre of Lisbon. The room (Fado) was basic but well styled, spacious and clean and accommodated myself, wife and two children well (6 and 4 years old). The shared bathroom was just a few metres down the corridor and was also kept spotless - we didn't have to...

I recently stayed at this guesthouse in the Fado room. You couldn't ask for a more convenient location, right off Rossio Square. The metro, Tram 28, and Tram 15 (to Belem) are all just around the corner. The staff were all very friendly and seemed to really want me to get the most out of Lisbon. The breakfast was more...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
