We spent 4 days in the hotel playing golf in the morning, relaxing by the pool in the afternoon and then went to Lissabon for dinner in the evenings. This hotel is truly excellent with an older type of charm, yet in very good shape. The service level is as expected in a 5-star hotel and the same goes for the breakfast: really excellent! I can highly recommend this hotel when visting Cascais/Estoril.
Wonderful looking early 20th century building ... but ... 20th century is also inside. No noise insulation, you can hear everyone coming and going in the corridor, the people walking above you, the alarm clocks of the rooms next to you, the toilet discharge, etc... And I'm not even going into the decor which is really worn out. Staff is wonderful, but it doesn't make it up.
Our group stayed at The Palacio for a week of golf. From the point when our airport transfer arrived at the hotel entrance to the time we left, we were all treated fantastically well. As expected the hotel, facilities and accommodation was first class. The thing we all enjoyed most was the friendly nature of all staff. They were well turned out, polite, efficient in their duties and at times went out of their way to make you feel special and put you at ease. An absolutely special visit and made memorable at the end of our visit by Jose Diogo Vieira. . Many thanks to everyone.
I can’t begin to describe how exceptional our stay was - we came as guests and depart feeling like we’re leaving family. The staff delivered on a scale which far exceeded our expectations! Charming and palatial are truly understatements here, while there was a mere modicum of availability at the spa, the hotel staff were absolutely remarkable and the lengths they went to for us will leave a lasting impression for our lifetime. Mr Jose Diogo and Marco are the quintessential epitome of the class and countenance concierges all over the world should emulate - never imagined that caliber of service at any of the 5-star hotels we’ve stayed at in the past. Tiago ensured our every need was met during our four day stay - service was world class and we appreciated his attention to detail! Mr. Jose Afonso our doorman exuded charm each and everyday. Wilson ensured our time at the pool was first rate and was kind enough to check in on us throughout our days. Housekeeping and restaurant staff spared no effort to make us feel like we were the most important guests on the grounds. Regardless of when we visit, the Hotel Palacio Estoril will be the only place we stay on future trips to Portugal!…
Very lovely hotel, though as the manager agreed, does need refurbishing now. Tons of possibilities, beautiful rooms, fabulous pool, lots of facilities. Many of the staff have been there for fifty years and the hotel has hosted many celebrities over the years. Good value and not too near the main road where there is much traffic.
Absolutely amazing . We love this hotel . It has the 5* luxury service you rarely find in those days . Classic , sophisticated and experienced staff . The pool and the gardens are stunning . We had a view over it and could not stop staring at it . The location is great as next to everything: Beach, train station , Casino and a little artisan fair in summer with good restaurants . Cascais is a few minutes from estoril as well .
The Palacio certainly lives up to its mantra ( Grand and Cosy) Friendly staff, who were professional and helpful and a location that was perfect for getting to the beach, the spa , and the numerous shops, bars and restaurants in the locale. We walked in to Cascais, visited Sintra , and got the train to Lisbon from across the road. If I had one complaint, it would be that our water and fruitbowl were not refreshed. Oyherwise, we had a lovely time, and we will be back, hopefully soon!
So the good: The room was really nice very spacious The concierge service was great they were extremely helpful The spa pool was great very relaxing and nice for couples as the outdoor pool was dominated by families The interior is very grand and there’s a lot of history to the building that’s fun to read about The bad: Our first room did not lock so we had to be moved, they said the room they moved us to was a nicer room but it was the same if not a little smaller. This new room the toilet and bath tub had not been cleaned, we asked for this to be cleaned and headed out. When we came back the toilet had the label to say it had been cleaned but it hadn’t been. I cleaned the toilet and the bath tub myself in the end. The cleaning service in general was pretty poor they hardly cleaned anything and removed towels and didn’t replace them. They would come to “turn down” the bed which was basically putting a silk scarf on the floor to your bed. The bedding itself had a hole in and was thread bare. The food in the bar restaurant was poor for the price me and my husband had a chicken sandwich and a wrap which included basically no chicken and cost us around 50 euros (with two soft drinks). The bar itself was a bit disappointing as they didn’t have a cocktail menu and didn’t really advertise the drinks they made so you’re made to feel like you shouldn’t expect anything extra it’s also very expensive for two cokes it was 12 euros. The misleading: Given that it’s advertised as a golf resort we thought the golf course was part of the property. It’s not you have to book a transfer to take you there so the grounds aren’t very big. The casino is also not within or connected to the hotel it’s in a large park across the road from the hotel. These things are probably written somewhere but we weren’t aware of them till we arrived. The spa is also a bit of a walk and a lift away. The hotel is also a half an hour walk from the historic Cascais center so be prepared to take the coastal path otherwise you’ll get stuck walking along the main road. All in all we did enjoy our stay but the hotel could use a little bit more attention to detail especially for its price.…
Whilst the hotel is very lovely and rooms great the service is sadly lacking. Breakfast self serve good food but waiting for drinks 15/20 minutes. The pool is very lovely but everything we wanted a drink we had to go and find somebody. You could easily go 2 hours or more without seeing anybody. And when you did go to find them from the bar there are 3 of them just chatting. 5 star amenities but certainly not 5 star service
The hotel was lovely, but a bit old fashioned. For example a double room has two small twin beds! But overall the food was absolutely terrific. The hotel was clean and cozy but I wouldn’t say state of the art. It’s a classic European hotel. Some staff were gruff and some were great. For example I called one morning for coffee to be brought to my room. The man said “why don’t you use the instant coffee in your room?” I explained that I wanted real coffee. He said “okay but it’s going to take a really long time. We are busy.” It was kind of funny. Also on Friday and Saturday nights there is a lot of loud music until 2 or 3 am. I think it comes from the casino. It is LOUD. That’s an issue. It’s not very peaceful. But, overall we liked it and thought it was a decent choice for the area.…
