So the good:
The room was really nice very spacious
The concierge service was great they were extremely helpful
The spa pool was great very relaxing and nice for couples as the outdoor pool was dominated by families
The interior is very grand and there’s a lot of history to the building that’s fun to read about

The bad:
Our first room did not lock so we had to be moved, they said the room they moved us to was a nicer room but it was the same if not a little smaller.
This new room the toilet and bath tub had not been cleaned, we asked for this to be cleaned and headed out. When we came back the toilet had the label to say it had been cleaned but it hadn’t been. I cleaned the toilet and the bath tub myself in the end.
The cleaning service in general was pretty poor they hardly cleaned anything and removed towels and didn’t replace them. They would come to “turn down” the bed which was basically putting a silk scarf on the floor to your bed.
The bedding itself had a hole in and was thread bare.
The food in the bar restaurant was poor for the price me and my husband had a chicken sandwich and a wrap which included basically no chicken and cost us around 50 euros (with two soft drinks).

The bar itself was a bit disappointing as they didn’t have a cocktail menu and didn’t really advertise the drinks they made so you’re made to feel like you shouldn’t expect anything extra it’s also very expensive for two cokes it was 12 euros.

The misleading:
Given that it’s advertised as a golf resort we thought the golf course was part of the property. It’s not you have to book a transfer to take you there so the grounds aren’t very big.
The casino is also not within or connected to the hotel it’s in a large park across the road from the hotel. These things are probably written somewhere but we weren’t aware of them till we arrived. The spa is also a bit of a walk and a lift away. The hotel is also a half an hour walk from the historic Cascais center so be prepared to take the coastal path otherwise you’ll get stuck walking along the main road.

All in all we did enjoy our stay but the hotel could use a little bit more attention to detail especially for its price.

The welcome from a traditionally dressed doorman marks the class for your entire stay. This hotel has successfully operated for almost 100 years which ensures a smooth perfect experience. Nothing is left to chance in this ordered elegant atmosphere.
The decor is Classic and beautiful transmitting an air of tranquility.
The garden pool area is perfect and beautiful.
Restaurants and bars ooze class and style which the pleasant attentive waiting staff ensure you enjoy your culinary and drink desires.
Food is good but lacks flair and could easily be improved.
The entire hotel is immaculately maintained.
It was a pleasure to be a guest and will always look forward to repeating our experience.

During the challenging times we are all living, we found a real palace on this magnificent hotel.
The hotel is extremely careful of the situation concerning COVID-19, and the staff play the right rules, as you feel extremely safe here.
The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the entire hotel a real oasis.
The breakfast is highly recommended and again the rules and measures implemented leaves you to profit a delicious way to start your day, as everything is properly covered / or served by the staff.
I would like to make a special mention to Mrs Raquel at Breakfast as she is the perfect example of 5* hotel service, together with Marta (FB) and Mr Jose (breakfast), however, all the staff we have come across are extremely kind and courteous.
Congratulations to all the hotel.

This was our 3rd visit to this hotel in just over 7 years because of the previously excellent 5* service we received, but unfortunately standards have slipped since we last visited.

The hot buffet breakfast was barely lukewarm, and in the 3 days we attended breakfast, we were only asked once if we would like our cups refilled, on previous visits staff would ask as soon as your cup was empty.

For NY we decided to eat dinner at The Four Seasons Restaurant but got fed up of waiting to be seated, despite the restaurant not being busy with only another couple of tables being occupied, so we decided to get a drink at the hotel bar. We managed to get a table but after waiting almost 20 minutes for the waiter to take our order, we got up and left, getting a taxi to nearby Cascais for dinner and drinks.

Our room, although quiet, clean and comfortable was now dated and in need of refurbishment.

I am afraid that the only positives for us were the peaceful location of the hotel and the Banyan Tree Spa which has a well equipped gym and indoor pool and relaxing spa.

When we arrived we were excited, but as you peeled back the skin , it shows it is not a 5 star hotel today.

Nice room but our door lock does not work, have to get staff to let us in.

Housekeeping is poor, washrooms not properly cleaned, take our used glasses away but do not replace them . Have asked 3 times for glasses none have shown up yet .

Had dinner in Terrace restaurant this evening, absolute disaster, food and serve were terrible, 3 of us had nothing to eat ( never came or not edible ), 2 others steaks were well done but asked for medium rare , oysters were not fresh.

They state that the hotel is a golf resort. Extremely disappointing and if they have a greens keeper they should be fired. Do not come to play golf.

The hotel needs a make over and updated for new technology, no iPhone plugins and have plugs that do not work ,

It was a grand hotel in its past , but does not live up to a 5 star hotel today .

We really were looking forward to our stay and hotel with so much history .

Palacio Estoril is a hotel with lots of history and past grandeur. Rows of photos of visiting royalty prove that past. Today, the public areas and rooms in the main building maintain the traditional decor and charm. Yes,
it’s dated but everything works and the service and food & beverage are superb. The Banyan Tree spa is in a new separate building and is modern and contemporary. The spa’s indoor pool with massage jets are amazing and admission to them and outdoor pool with gym comes the room. After a day of touring or golfing, the pool makes for a relaxing end to the day. That feature together with hotel’s location in Estoril (five minutes to train to Cascais and Lisbon), and the very generous breakfast will make us return here for our next visit.

Elegance old style and lovely reception/ concierge and catering staff even though very busy they are pleasant and helpful but worth double checking if you make a booking that the message is actually followed up.
Thank you to the team for looking after us with enthusiasm and generosity.
Located near restaurants and beach bars the hotel has its own high class restaurant with reasonable degustation menu and great staff.
Unfortunately we chose this hotel particularly for the Banyan Tree which was then closed for part of our visit for maintenance and when it reopened we couldn’t get 2 full length appointments. Unfortunately there is not the same customer service tlc at reception who are running a business not a wellness centre. Always best to book direct several days in advance with the spa as the hotel isn’t au fait with appointments system.
Luckily the therapists were top quality though facilities Spartan which detracts from the experience feels like you’re going into a smart office space. Fantastic dynamic pool- didn’t use gym as there wasn’t time. Ambience poor.

Well placed for Lisbon site seeing and Cascais because the regular train service works and is cheap.
We bought online Lisboa cards but could only pick them up at a special location- Codfish Museum- for reasons only the tourist information office understand.
Turned out only good for transport and only a very few free or discounted attractions (as I am over 65 the senior discounts were more generous)
As a tourist, though a great place to visit, Lisbon is very busy with long queues their systems are confusing not well signed and sites expensive. Food good almost everywhere and alcohol cheap

Old fashioned excellent service but modern facilities. This was our first time at this hotel and will certainly not be our last. The staff are very helpful, courteous and friendly. Our room was large and well decorated and the bathroom facilities were excellent. We are not sure why reviews say the hotel is tired we certainly did not see any evidence of that. The decor not worn in anyway but is in keeping with the style of the hotel.

Breakfast was a good selection with staff eager to help and when we ordered fried or poached eggs they were produced quickly and were hot.

We ate 3 times in the Four Season Grill as we were impressed by both the level of service and food on offer.

We were playing golf and found the transfers to and from the golf operated efficiently. We found staff at the golf course helpful as well and enjoyed some nice lunches there when we had finished playing. Estoril is a nice course, and some holes are quite tight with trees.

The concierge staff are very helpful and informative. We enquired about local restaurants to try and were not disappointed and also they were helpful when we were planning a day trip to Lisbon.

Room quite small and overfurnished as expected with this type of hotel.
My problem was with the inability to get hot food from the kitchen to the table. Breakfast coffee was lukewarm at best and sent back every day..2 breakfast meals also sent back as stone cold eggs not very appetising. Even the main course dinner on Xmas Eve went back ..How hard can it be in a 5 star hotel .
Our bill was also incorrect by 200 euros as we were charged for a Xmas lunch we did not have. Good thing I always check.

My partner and I stayed in September and couldn’t fault it. We stayed in a room with a balcony which looked over the sea and gardens. The spa is wonderful with a dynamic pool and the Thai massage I had was incredible as well as the Vichy shower massage which was so relaxing. Service was fantastic and amazing choice at. Breakfast. Great location - The beach is just across the road with Cascais a 30 min walk along the beach promenade and there’s a train to Lisbon right outside the hotel. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay with sightseeing

Golf dress code: same "rules" as in most of the usual GC, for example: no jeans, no shorts for men, but "bermuda shorts" accepted, no t-shirts they must be collared .... in the GC Estoril the staff is really helpful, relaxed and friendly, didn't see any arguing about dress code. ⛳ In the hotel HP: casual smart. But you might see guests in their bathrobe walking to the outstanding Banyan Tree Spa.... 😉 For the excellent gourmet restaurant "Four Seasons Grill" inside the HP, men have to wear long trousers!
