Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa is often lauded for its comprehensive amenities, including a well-regarded pool area, spa, and gym, although some guests have pointed out issues such as unheated pools. The rooms are widely celebrated for their ample space, comfort, and scenic views, but there are some concerns regarding ventilation and cleanliness. Despite praise for the professional and attentive staff, some visitors feel the hotel does not provide good value, referencing steep prices and an absence of certain luxury features. The atmosphere garners mixed reviews, with the lobby seen as elegant by some, yet others find the decor and restaurant vibe outdated. The hotel's cleanliness receives commendations, and its picturesque location near shopping and dining with sea views is a highlight for guests.

Staff - Brilliant, they cannot do enough for you. They provide a waiter service round the pool and literally every member of staff I spoke to during my stay went over and above. Special mention to the young man that works in the indoor pool / spa reception area…

Room - we were on the 9th floor and had a view of the pool and the sea (amazing view). The room is spacious and the bed was huge and really comfortable. They seemed to clean the room 3 x per day and we always had treats left and I loved the chocolate I received with the turn down service each evening.
They also provide slippers (ones that fit and I am a size 10 + robes).

Breakfast - great location, indoor / outdoor options to sit. Lots of hot / cold options + and omelette station. Tip - coffee they serve is bang average but if you ask for a cappuccino/ Latte etc….. they will make fresh no problem at all.

Outdoor Pool - lots of loungers, always space amazing view (located on the 3rd floor so view of harbour and sea), comfy, pool bar and an amazing looking pool however…. Water is freezing, pool is not heated and in middle of August and 28 degrees and it’s like endurance to stay on for more than 5 minutes.

Negatives - not many but it’s the little things that I feel prevent a 5star review.

The main atrium is glass and has an outdoor waterfall cascading down and looked amazing on day 1 and then it broke and now we look at a ton of very water stained glass,
the wellness pool area - the salt water bath didn’t work all week and in general the whole area is a little tired.

Decor - it is nice and spotlessly clean but I agree with other reviews that the green baize on the bedroom veranda is tired and in general just ever so slightly dated. They painted over the marble from 4th to 9th floors and just looks a little scruffy.

Restaurant / Bar - absolutely lifeless in the evening and we chose to eat out as zero atmosphere in the hotel + virtually double the price of eating / drinking in town (10 minutes walk away). The cocktails are nice and we had one every evening on our way out as we felt sorry for the lovely staff (around €54 for 3 cocktails & we got the same 3 for €24 100 yards away)

Despite the niggles I am likely to return one day as Cascais has so much to offer that I did not see on a 7 day trip and overall we ddi enjoy our stay

Upon walking into the elegant lobby, one knows an exceptional stay awaits. Even though our room was small, perhaps normal for European standards, the room was very nicely appointed throughout, including the bathroom. And, the oceanfront view from the large terrace was very welcome. Don’t miss out on the complimentary breakfast buffet each morning, and Old Town Cascais is only about a 20-minute walk away along the waterfront. Truly an excellent experience.

We recently spent a week at this wonderful hotel in Cascais, and as always, it was an incredible experience. Every time we visit Cascais, we choose to stay at Miragem Hotel because of its unbeatable location—just a short walk to the beach and only a few minutes from the vibrant Cascais center.

The hotel itself is spotless, and the food is always fresh and delicious, making every meal a pleasure. However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the outstanding staff. From the moment we arrived, the team was warm, welcoming, and professional.

I want to give a special mention to Catarina at the reception. She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Her guidance and recommendations helped us make the most of our time in Cascais, and her friendly yet professional attitude made us feel truly cared for.

We booked this hotel for the indoor pool which looks lovely in videos - sadly we never gained access. The pool was shut for ‘maintenance’ which was a huge disappointment. Outdoors was not warm and the Holmes Place alternative next door is a regular club which was absolutely mobbed with people, families with children on the Saturday morning and yet sold as a viable equivalent alternative to the serenity of the hotel pool.
We spent more than 2 hours with the duty manager to receive a 15% discount on our stay - honestly our main exercise is in the pool so the whole purpose of being at this hotel was diminished. Be careful of this bait and switch - the serenity and cleanliness of a dedicated hotel pool cannot be matched by a club open to the local population. The receptionist told me I had been informed 6 days before my arrival which was not so as evidenced by the date of the e mail I did receive once already working in Portugal - too late to change my reservation. The duty manager clearly had limited powers of negotiation and resolution and said if we spent money on food in the hotel we could do so with a 10% discount.
At over £1000 for three night B&B and being deprived of the main ‘in hotel’ draw for us we would not spend more money.
Pluses - room was nice as were the staff - but for us with no indoor pool such a disappointment. A spoiled getaway for us despite being in beautiful Caiscais.

Dear Mrs. Melanie L, Greetings from Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa! Thank you very much for your review and for the time you took to share your experience at our Hotel. I am truly sorry for your desapointment and believe me that I am also very desapointed for the fact that we had to close the Miragem Water Lounge, which includes the indoor pools, but the health and safety of our guests are our priority. Unfortunately, I had to close the Miragem Water Lounge due to a failure in one of the parts and I sincerely hope to receive the new one soon. I am also very sorry that Your Husband could not performe his exercises during the stay and I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future with the Miragem Water Lounge opened. I will be sending you a message to your personal e-mail address. I am delighted to know that you enjoyed your room as well as Cascais and thank you for your kind words regarding the Staff of the Hotel. Thanking you again for your preference in staying with us and looking forward to welcoming you again soon. Best personal regards José José Branco General Manager Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa

I will start with the good. The lobby was impressive as we checked in. The pool overlooking the water is beautiful. The service was impeccable. Any time we had to call, which unfortunately was a lot, they were there to provide service in under 5 minutes. The staff is very kind and attentive. Also, we were there for our honeymoon, and they welcomed us with a lovely gift that was very much appreciated.

Now for the issues we had with this hotel. I was shocked upon checking into the room. We were looking for a 5 star hotel to celebrate our honeymoon. I’m not sure who determines the number of stars given, but this was absolutely not a 5 star hotel. Although our room was spacious, the carpet was covered in stains. The outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful sea had torn up greens and 2 stained lounge chairs (no towels or pads to cover them) and no seats to enjoy the view. We arrived on a warm day and noticed that although the bedroom was cooled nicely, the bathroom was extremely warm and did not have any ventilation. We called to ask if we were missing something. They came right away and explained that because the building is very old, it was not well ventilated. They did bring us a fan, which was kind but presented a whole other issue with trying to find additional plugs (there was only one) to plug in the fan and the hair dryer. The shower was our biggest disappointment. It was so tiny, It felt like I was in a coffin. The worst part was the water didn’t drain so we were standing in a full basin of water as we showered. It was quite gross.
5 Star hotels usually offer turn down service. I’m not sure if they have it, but if so, we did not get it. They only give you 2 hand towels and 2 shower towels. Without turndown, you are unable to have fresh towels the next morning (although when we called and asked, they brought us more right away.)
Lastly, we were able to enjoy sitting by the pool although it was too cold to get in. We only saw a few people brave enough to get in. For the price we paid per night, you would think they would spend the money and heat the pool a bit.
I do not recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a 5 star experience.

We recently returned to Cascais for a vacation after living there for all of 2018. We were at the Holmes Place Gym nearly every day while we lived there and the Miragem was always a beautiful looking hotel with a great lobby. We decided to spend our last couple of days there after moving out or our Airbnb and were sadly disappointed. Yes the hotel has a spectacular location and if you have a sea view room, which we did, it has a breathtaking view. But when you get into the rooms it is an entirely different story. The bathrooms are severely outdated with obviously very old marble tiles. The shower had separate hot and cold water controls so getting the temperature right was a challenge. There is also a motion detector that turns off the lights so if you take a long shower get ready to have the lights go out on you. There is a dearth of outlets in the room so charging more than 1 iPhone at a time was a challenge. We had maintenance come up three times because of electrical problems in the room. We asked to speak to the GM but were told he doesn't work weekends and the Manager on duty was either unempowered or uninterested to do anything. Perhaps the most obvious and tacky feature was how they mounted the TV on the front of the credenza where they had replaced the old tube models with flat screens that did not fit so they just stuck them on the front of the furniture as you can see in the picture below. Yes the pool is amazing but for a 5 star hotel that is as expensive as the Miragem I have to say they should lose 2 of their stars. I have literally spent thousands of nights in hotels including having Lifetime Titanium with Marriott and having had top tier loyalty status with IHG, Windham and Best Western and I have never been more disappointed in a hotel. I am not sure if it is that single hotel or all of the hotels this company runs but it seems pretty obvious that it is being treated as a cash cow and not being given the attention it deserves and needs

We booked three deluxe rooms for ourselves, our son and his girlfiend and our son's friend (who our son was running the Lisbon marathon with). A bit disappointed that the rooms were on a low floor (4th) and varied significantly in outlook (they all had sea views, as advertised, but two views were blocked by palm trees). One of the rooms was also tucked in a corner and didn't have the full width windows the other rooms had. We found the bed too hard for our liking. That said, the spa is excellent, and, if you're a gym fan, you can use the Holmes Place gym in the same building (at no extra charge). The breakfast buffet was also plentiful and included everything you'd expect. Lunchtime buffet was good too but there's only a relatively small restaurant in the evening or a bar menu. That might, however, be a function of the huge number of restaurants in Cascais, about 10 minutes walk away (indeed we ate at two ourselves). The staff were all pleasant and helpful.

We just loved this hotel. Such a good choice. We had a premium room on the 6th floor across from the spa which was very convenient. The water circuit in the spa was probably the best we have ever seen in a hotel. The high salinity floating room is a sublime experience, especially after the sauna or steam. The indoor pool is huge, and they even have a shower that alternates between soft warm water and cold water. The staff were so nice, especially Mayara! It is a beautiful hotel all around; great amenities and great service. And Cascais was so beautiful. We loved Lisbon but if we are back in this area we will stay in this hotel again.

This was our first time at this hotel although we became aware there were many repeat customers. We were very impressed - this is a very nice hotel. The location is very good and is only 5 minutes walk from a large supermarket as well as the bus and train stations. Although it is close to a main road the soundproofing in the rooms is excellent. All facilities were good, the staff were great in every area of the hotel, the food was very good and the room and balcony were spacious and good quality. My only recommendation for improvement would be to cover the sun loungers with foam covers as I found them a bit hard but that's just a personal point of view. The quality and friendliness of the reception staff and the staff in the Gourmet restaurant deserves special mention. A lovely hotel which we would gladly return to.

We have just got back from an amazing holiday at this hotel.

The hotel is perfectly located 2 mins across from the promenade along the beach. Here there is a little beach, a sea pool and some cafes and bars. Turn right and you can stroll into the pretty town of Cascais, turn left and you can walk along the coast up to Estoril. You are 5 mins from the station where it is easy to get a scenic train into Lisbon.

We stayed in a family room with a sea view. The rooms were large, luxurious and very clean with a shaded balcony. We got a bottle of water from the hotel each day and there was the added touch of the turn-down service with a chocolate each night which particularly I loved.

The pool is gorgeous, relaxing with a view of the bay was a real treat and we always found there were enough sunbeds. It is kept spotless and you can get a towel when you arrive. The pool staff are so friendly and helpful getting you the right spot and adjusting your umbrella to ensure you have enough shade.

The gym and water lounge were enjoyable extras and my teens loved going to them.

breakfast was tasty and a very good selection of items. We especially liked the fresh fruit and the omelette bar. You could eat outside which was a delightful way to start the day and when we ate at 8.30 it never felt too busy. Only disappointment was that there were no pastel de nata but we found a lovely bakery in town called Bijous Cascais where we brought some delicious ones!

We ate at the Bar a couple of times and enjoyed the food there and I’d recommend going up to the 6th floor deck for amazing views!

All the staff were so helpful and friendly - cleaners, waiters, pool team and receptionist. It was such a pleasant atmosphere.

We will definitely be back to this hotel and the gorgeous town of Cascais

Yes it all depends on the occupancy of the hotel because the pool area is not that big and there is not that many lounges around. But don’t forget you have got the massive beach right opposite the hotel which you can rent a lounger.
