This was our golf society’s first overseas golf trip and we definitely weren’t disappointed.

From arriving at the hotel 3 hours before check in we were told our rooms were ready for us. We quickly checked in and were out exploring the hotel and golf facilities within an hour.

The rooms were very modern and extremely comfortable. The shower was amazing and was the best I have ever had in a hotel in decades of travelling. Complimentary water was very welcome and slippers, dressing gowns and even personalised toothbrushes were a lovely touch.

The bar area was very comfortable and the settees were very comfortable. A piano player offering backing music in the evening was also very nice. Drinks weren’t too expensive for a 5 star hotel and had plenty of choice. We also went into the bar above the club shop and was served by the delightful Carolina. She was one of the most smileyist people I have ever met and was amazing for our group. I even spoke a little Creole to her, which is her native language, and she loved it! She is a huge credit to the hotel.

The restaurant was excellent. Breakfast offered everything for all tastes. The food was fresh and plentiful. Food in the bar area was reasonably priced and was of a very high standard.

The golf course was challenging to say the least. We had 3 sunny days out of 4 and got very wet on the other. We managed 46 out of 54 holes so we weren’t too disappointed. Having played at the Algarve this course was so different in many ways but was very enjoyable. There is a good sized driving range on site too. Buggies are plentiful and are reasonably priced at 50 euros.

The spa is excellent too. A nice sized pool, steam room and sauna are great to relax in. There is an outside pool for warmer weather. There are massages and other treatments on offer and a price list is in your room.

Cascais is the nearest town and has a good selection of bars and restaurants. Narrow streets offer shops and would be a lovely place to explore given more time. 6 euros in a taxi which takes 10 minutes will take you there.

I could say more but the best way to experience this hotel is to go. We had a great time and would easily recommend to golf societies and to couples wanting a nice base for exploring the local area.

Thank you to everyone at the Quinta da Marinha for a thoroughly enjoyable week and hopefully I’ll be back again very soon.

Onyria Quinta da Marinha was our choice for a weekend for two, and we couldn't have chosen better. It has details of the best 5* Hotels that made our experience memorable.
With an excellent location, the room with a beautiful view of the golf course, very spacious, comfortable and super clean, with the precious detail of offering personalized toothbrushes with our name.
We loved the breakfast, the indoor and outdoor pool, the bar, in short, everything the hotel has to offer us.
We were also surprised by the PressReader offer at check-in, which allowed us to read national newspapers and magazines that we didn't even know about, on topics that we like to follow, for free. A plus in our experience.
As the weather was great, and my wife and I are golfers, we wanted to try the golf course, but unfortunately we didn't bring our bags. Even that was resolved, as the Golf Course has excellent rental sets, which we ended up using. Excellent afternoon of golf, we loved the experience, the course was impeccable, and the clubs we rented were also 5*.
Experience to definitely repeat.

We arrived on Saturday as a family of four, two adults and two small kids. We booked a family room. The bunk beds are not suitable for very small kids in the family room, the top bunk would be too dangerous. Due to this, our 4 year old slept on the bottom bunk and our younger child slept in a cot. The family room is quite small compared to other ones we have stayed in so beware of that! The balcony is also not overly safe for small kids as it is quite open. The check in process was fine however they didn’t swipe our credit card correctly so had an awkward moment when we tried to charge coffees to our room.

The hotel itself is well kept and spacious and there are lots of sun loungers, we never found it difficult to get one. The pool bar is average at best, they often had no card
Machine so we’d have to wait while the member of staff went into the hotel to get a card machine.

The breakfast and food in the bar is good, a great selection at breakfast and the chefs are regularly topping up the food options. There isn’t a gym in the hotel unfortunately but you can get a shuttle to the sister hotel to use that gym for free. The spa is moreso treatment rooms than an actual spa and when I arrived for my treatment at the designated time, I had to sit outside a locked spa. I didn’t get to enjoy the pool etc before my treatment as a result. They advise that people arrive min 15 minutes before a treatment but unsure why given the fact it often isn’t open.

The hotel also offers a shuttle into cascais but only a couple of times a day, an Uber is a much better option and they are very cheap too.

All in all a nice hotel and we would return however you don’t get a 5 star
feel compared to the other 5 star hotels in cascais.

Excellent staff. In particular, my wife found Filipa (Guest Relations) a total star.
Fred (food and beveridge manager, ex Savoy and Gordon Ramsey) also deserves a mention. The hotel benefits from being a few minutes drive outside the centre of Cascais, with great grounds and location. The room/bathroom was great. Breakfast is the only thing which could do with just a bit more of their budget - it was certainly good but no chefs cooking omelettes and other orders as you might expect at a hotel like this. Just a well stocked buffet. Overall, we had a great time and the staff made the difference. We'd certainly go back. Another reviewer mentioned using Uber as the hotel is a little outside Cascais. Big thumbs up to that as Uber availability was excllent and cost was low at +/- €5 into Cascais.

The whole surrounding of the hotel is extraordinary, room impeccably decorated, without deceiving the customer's comfort. A always attentive and available staff, who I want to thank for the great tips for our short visit to Lisbon. The restaurant presents a varied and high quality offer, not neglecting a very interesting wine list. We also took advantage to explore the golf course, which for the winter season is impeccably preserved. Congratulations to the entire team.

The room is super spacious, the bed is huge and the mattress is very comfortable. The room's balcony was also spacious with a direct view of the golf course. Breakfast was rich and varied. The staff, as a whole, was super welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I asked to see the Boutique hotel and in less than 10 minutes someone was waiting for me and took me to see the Boutique and the apartments. The Resort is refined and conveys an image of tranquility ………However, it is close to the town of Cascais and the emblematic Sintra, so it is suitable for both golfers and non-golfers – which is our case.
At the bar the atmosphere was also quite relaxed and there was live music.
We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but we went to dinner at the MONTEMAR restaurant in Guincho…….. the location is absolutely unique, we ate seafood which was superb. The service was excellent from the moment we entered until we left. Nothing to point out.

Unfortunately, this hotel gives the impression of luxury from the outside however it does not seem to provide a five star guest experience.

Upon check in, there was a real lack of information provided, e.g. breakfast times were not mentioned, reference to evacuation procedures etc. In addition, the room was not as clean as expected with hairs on both the robe provided and the bed. There were also tears in the bedding which I would not expect from a hotel of this calibre. On our first morning, we were awoken by the sound of chainsawing and leaf blowing which was not conducive to a relaxing stay. Any planned works should be mentioned at check in at the very least. Service at the bar was exceptionally slow on both occasions which suggests that this is not a one off. We waited around 30 minutes for two drinks and had to remind the staff of our order. We were also told that we had left a do not disturb sign on our door which prevented the staff from cleaning. The manner from the reception staff insinuated that we were an inconvenience however when we returned to the room we found that it had already been cleaned as we did not leave a do not disturb sign outside. Furthermore, the number for room service was incorrect which meant that we could not order via phone in the first instance. Rooms are only given a singular bottle of complimentary water per stay as opposed to per day. This is not something I’ve ever encountered in other five star hotels. I did flag some of these issues when we checked out. Reception staff seemed unfazed by this and instead just stated that this would be passed on without any apologies made which again is unusual.

However, there are some redeeming features. The pool area is very relaxed with plenty of sun loungers to choose from at any time in the day. Breakfast was plentiful and staff were welcoming. One older gentleman (unfortunately I did not catch his name) was particularly hospitable with a cheery and friendly manner which we appreciated. Communal areas seemed to be well kept with several places to sit.

As mentioned, this hotel seems to have achieved the aesthetic of a luxe establishment but I do feel that work needs to be done to ensure that guests receive the five star experience they were hoping for.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Onyria Quinta da Marinha Hotel, the official Half Marathon Hotel of Cascais and our experience was absolutely fantastic. From the moment of arrival, we were welcomed in a warm and professional way. The quiet environment and surrounding spaces were, in fact, an essential part of making our visit even more pleasant, but we highlighted above all the human warmth with which we were treated. All staff were exceptional, committed, polite, kind and helpful. In particular, I would like to highlight the personal and dedicated support of the director of the hotel, who was always available to support the participants of the half marathon, even applauding the participants during the journey. This gesture made all the difference and contributed significantly to making our experience even more special. Demonstrated a level of customer care and attention that we rarely encounter. We feel affectionate and it is without subtleties that I affirm that it may have been the Hotel in my country, where I was best treated as a person.
The quality of service was impeccable, from the reception to the smallest details during our stay (such as the personalized toothbrushes). No doubt, a perfect place for those looking for tranquility, comfort and a caring staff.

We highly recommend this hotel to everyone and hope to return soon for another memorable experience!

It is a hotel where as soon as you arrive they charge you the full amount, something I have never seen before, so if you have a problem and have to leave, you are left without the money.
The rooms are spacious as well as the common areas but the hotel is not a five star 4 at most.
The breakfast can be greatly improved, from the facilities where it is at peak times to the food they present.
It is quite far from the city, we already knew that, but the hotel is not worth going that far, because it does not offer anything different.
correct staff treatment.

Do you know these places where you don’t want to go? Where in the taxi back you start to book the next stay?
We spent some time suspended as a family. Here nothing is ostentatious, nothing is superficial. Everything is perfectly balanced. The staff, who are REALLY attentive, the facilities that are of impeccable maintenance and icing on the cake for those who love the sport the Quinta da Marinha is an exceptional setting.
