Nestled near the heart of Cascais, Vila Galé Cascais is often applauded for its prime location, offering easy access to the marina and local attractions, as well as convenient trips to Lisbon. The rooms are generally found to be spacious, although the charm is somewhat diminished by dated decor and occasional noise. While the staff at the hotel receive compliments for their friendliness, some guests have experienced delays during busy periods.
The pool area and breakfast spread are highlights, but visitors suggest that enhancements, especially regarding Wi-Fi, could enhance the overall experience. Cleanliness is a strong suit, with the hotel maintaining high standards across rooms and communal spaces. The value proposition presents a mixed bag, with guests expressing contentment with pricing but noting unexpected charges for certain amenities.

Detailed Reviews
A large modern hotel which is well located if you are staying in Cascais. It is only a ten minute walk into town and the nearest beach and the front of the hotel overlooks a large park. There is plenty of parking. All Covid-19 precautions were clear and being observed.
The staff were all excellent and spoke very good English. Our room was large, the bed was huge, and overlooked the park. As we had a small balcony that was particularly nice. Everything was immaculately clean.
Breakfast was a combination of some self-service but most items, including hot food, were served from behind counters. There was plenty of choice and you could have as much as you wanted. We were able to eat breakfast outside and enjoy the peacocks walking around as if they owned the place!
The large pool had the surrounding sun beds adequately separated and we felt Covid safe the whole time we were there.

When big chains of 4 stars hotels decide to serve poor quality and cut from the cost of quality provided like low cost cheap hotels, definitely will destroy your stay.
First of all, i use to stay in Vila Gale Cascais occasionally for the last 7 years, specifically because of the view, quality and quietness, but! when i checked in and i found no amenities, and just soap dispenser to wash your face and hair etc you will be shocked specially that it was not before, knowing that the price of rooms get increased not decreased, followed by destroyed ceiling dribbling water continuously on top of your head, and the water closet was not working and dribbling water all the night with awful noise, until i decided to turn off all the toilet tabs, the sliding doors are very strong and heavy to open or close, the safety box is not free of charge anymore, and when i accepted to pay, they said sorry we have problem for the time being, i had to ask for the kettle and tea to be provided as it use to be before, twin beds are very small and mattress really hard.
View still amazing as can't be changed and room was upgraded by decent receptionist who try to make you happy all the time, breakfast very good and fresh as always, the hotel is clean, but really need to be observed always for rooms maintenance.
overall passable stay, but not again.

Stayed in room 630 on the top floor, amazing view of the pool, the sea and to the marina. Although with the hotel very quiet I shouldn’t really have had to ask for a sea view, I would hope they would try to exceed expectations when tourists are thin on the ground. The beds were very comfortable and slept very well, better than at home. The room was large and the shower was excellent. My only slight gripe would be charging for the safe, and the small AC unit wasn’t really up to the job for such a large room.
Great location and staff were very helpful with bus information and breakfast was excellent too. Wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again, great location, short walk to town, even shorter to the marina with lots of restaurants.
Hire a bike and head west, the beaches are truly amazing!

Stayed two nights after fleeing a bad Airbnb experience.
Great location, easy walk from the center, is next to a beautiful park which is delight to spend time in.
From check in to checkout all staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and the breakfast buffet is very good.
However I cannot remember staying in a hotel that did not have a coffeemaker.
Also most hotels have an iron and at least one complimentary bottle of water.
This hotel had none of these and it seems strange to me.
I would probably stay there again for the reasons mentioned, but it could be improved with little effort by the hotel.

We love coming here, over twenty years, the location is perfect and we love the walk down into town.
We are happy with the hotel on a B&B basis finding new restaurants and bars every time we come. Our room had a walk in shower which was much nicer than the old style shower in bath, it was usually serviced by 10am most mornings. Reception were very friendly and it was great to see our old friends Mario and Bruno still looking after the bar impeccably.
We stayed for a week, the first half of which was very chilled with golfers disappearing after breakfast and also crews partaking in a yachting challenge gone most of the day.
It was on the Friday of our stay that families from the UK with sons taking part in an under 13 football tournament arrived and disturbed the atmosphere. The next two mornings were fine with the families leaving for the matches, but then they returned in the afternoon and took over the pool and were a real nuisance playing football. The hotel seemed to have a member of staff keeping an eye on everything but he had no control. They were noisy in the bar forcing the entertainer one night to stop playing as he couldn't hear himself sing! I'm quite happy with children at the hotel, it's a family hotel but there was little parental control unfortunately.
Not the fault of the hotel. Bad timing for us that we booked at the same time as them, I just hope we avoid them in future if they are here every year.
One other moan, the music track played in the children's hut must be repeated at least five times a day. Come on Vila Gale buy some new tunes for us please?
Moans out of the way we love coming to this hotel and will be back next year all being well.

Dear Carol, First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing Vila Galé Cascais for your stay and take the time to give us your feedback. I am glad that you have enjoyed our hotel despite some less positive details that you mention. We did have a group of some children always with the parents and they were always warned and called to attention regarding noise and we always did our best to ensure that other guests were not harmed. We already have some new musics so next time you visit us, just let us know what you think about it! I hope to welcome you back soon. Best regards, Inês Cortes Rosa

We were given a room which looked totally different to the room we booked. The room and a terrible musty smell and became unbearable to stay in. When we complained to staff they sent someone from housekeeping up who said the reason for the smell was the old carpet in the room. They offered to spray air freshener and leave the van with us to use as we needed. This was an entirely unsatisfactory resolution for us so we asked to change rooms. There was one particular front of house staff member who was entirely unhelpful and didn’t try to help us at all. A more senior member stepped in and eventually told us we could change rooms the next day when a different room became available.
There was very little information provided to us when we checked in; we weren’t told where the pool or restaurants were, we didn’t know what the opening times were etc.
We paid a bed and breakfast rate and only ended up eating the breakfast ok the first morning because it was so poor. The buffet breakfast on offer was so awful - poor quality fruit, processed meats, powdered scramble eggs sitting in water etc.
The hotel has a nice location just outside the town and a short 10 minute was to the town and Boca Inferno. It’s also very close to the marina.
Overall the hotel is not 4*. The service is lacking and the decor could do with considerable updating. It is more of a 3* hotel compared to others we have stayed in. Value for money is not good. We will not be returning to this hotel after the experience we had.

I stayed for 5days over Christmas at the Vila Gale Cascais and had a large bedroom complete with a small kitchen
ideal for anyone wanting to do a bit of self catering which I did not as I stayed half board basis.
The food was buffet style and my only complaint is that the cooked food was barely warm but otherwise there was a good choice and the staff were very pleasant.A bottle of red wine was left in the room on Christmas Eve
which was a nice touch and the hotel was well situated near to the coast

We had booked a junior suite with sea view and balcony for 14 nights early August for 2 adults and 1 child. We had chosen this hotel for the location and also for the suite, which was looking like an appartment. However we were given a room, which was absolutely not the one we had ordered and not matching at all the pictures. We complained five times at the reception desk and the response was that the hotel was booked and we could not change the room. Unfortunately we had paid in advance and they did not care at all about our complaint. We had the room 640, which was kind of a suite, however pretty small with no separate door and a very tiny double bed and so unconfortable, and a very little balcony. We slept so badly during 2 weeks. We could see that the standard room was actually bigger and with a nice bed. So the recommencation is not to order a suite as not worth it. We paid 80EUr more per night for a room which was so unconfortable compared to the standard room. Honestly so disappointed with room 640. Now the hotel has a great location and the breakfast was nice with fresh fruits and eggs, However no feedback from the hotel after complaining 5 times at the reception, I also sent an email while we were still there and provided a low satisfaction rate, but absolutely no response from the hotel. Again disappointed as we could have had a standard room in the luxus hotel nearby for the price we have paid in this hotel.

Today I went to Vila Galais Cascais to pick up some friends who were staying there. While waiting I went to their buffet restaurant and asked the hostess at the entrance if I could have a glass of water (from the decanter which was on the buffet counter) and she told me that I had to pay for it. I said there is plenty water on that counter that she could pour in a glass but she insisted that I had to pay for it and that this is the way in Portugal ! I don’t think so because this is definitely not the hospitality I have seen elsewhere in Portugal. All I was asking was a simple glass of water nothing more nothing less. Can we call this “hospitality » ?? !! What a shame to have such an experience at a resort hotel !

Stayed for 3 nights, on arrival room was not ready, would be ready at 3pm - so we stated we would go to town, main entrance to the hotel is down a step incline, there is a small gate for guests to use at the Town end of the property, gate security operated by room card, no mention or offer of a guest card so we had to take the long way both times. Lady on check in was not very presentable, looked dirty and was rude, constatinly anserwing the phone and dealing with other guests all at the same time.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, for a £200 a night room would expect that.
Mentioned that the safe was not operating to yet another rude boy on reception, was told that was an extra fee (2.50 euro a day) never have I had to pay to protect my valuables from effectively hotel staff ever ..... duty manager was OK agreed that it was not right and waived the small cost.
Icing on the cake, is they will not all you a guest iron , pretty standard every where else and if I wanted my shirt ironing that was an additional cost.
These little things clearly shows the hotel don't care for their guests, pretty disgusting all round.
There are so many nice hotels in the area and I would recommend this one as a last resort.
