Hotel's Favorite
Probably the best hotel in cascais and lisbon if you want to get distance from the city Kids area is the cherry on top of tge cake, on the outdoor: trampoline, castle, open space, ping pong, 2 sand playground, 2 heated swimming pools. Indoor there is a kids club where u can drop off the kids with the animator (9.30 a.m), plenty of toys and games. Ana and Diogo do a great job (my daughter was crying for the 1st 5min, after that, playing all time),  Room is great, high standard, nothing to improve, amazing bathroom, great bed, balcony, nespresso... but the 2 mattress could be better connected (to minimize the space between). Breakfast: due to covid19 we did not experience the buffet option, was kind of pre ordered plus a la carte, however it was delicious! Whole complex is absolutely perfect. We had a 3 years old kid so our tine was around the kids area, but the other swimming pools for adults/relax, look amazing.  Not good enough: the reservations team in sagres, they misslead some information, gave us higher rate (vs agoda, then corrected it) weren't sure what was free or additional charge... they need to do better for a 5 stars hotel. Nuno and Constança at the reception were very friendly and helpful, top service. Next summer i am back Thank you for amazing holidays

Martinhal is a very family friendly accommodation. However you should have a family with children younger then 12. There are a lot of children and they have an active kidsclub. We were traveling with 14 and 17 year boys and for us this was not so attractive, bit too many young kids. Our villa nr 1 was directly behind the kidsclub which caused lots of noise of course. The villas are very clean and bright and well equipped. The staff is friendly and polite. The main hall is also bright and clean, the garden and swimming-pool area needs some renovations or updates as well as our villa from the outside. (Some rusty spots, unequal bit messy parking-space, terras) The location is a bit far from the center of Cascais and there is no direct beach nearby and bikes are for rent but a bit expensive per day, would have been more logical to have that for free for the guests. We will be heading for Martinhal Quinta in a few days and we really hope we will be less surrounded by that many young children there and more privacy. Overall clean, bright and friendly but some updates and renovations needed at the community pool area and outside. Location bit difficult towards beach and center.

Rooms - lovely. Storage is minimal which surprises me given that it’s geared towards families; no drawers and very very small space for hanging clothes. Food - the menus don’t change so it gets very repetitive and bland in no time at all really. Pool food for kids is more akin to what you’d find at a Holiday Inn (they even have chicken nuggets and fish fingers - the frozen kind for kids). I def expected healthier options for lunch by the pool. Simple veg and pasta or chicken wrap (can be had at other parts of the resort but not by the pool) and def a reliance on fries / burgers. OJ for kids is €6 or more. Very strange when it is €1 outside of the resort!!! I prob expect Bbq food and healthier options with more thought put into them everywhere and not just in the main resto. Breakfast would be more 3*. Def, DEF not 5*. Kids club is so lovely and nice to have that time to exercise as adults while kids play happily. Bikes are avail for hire but at a ridic charge. €40++ for bike with trailer for a couple of hours. Kind of takes the fun out of a relaxing cycle. I’d have expected those to be freely available at the hotel or certainly no more than a minimal charge. Would love if there were afternoon activities for kids by the pool; volleyball or a dance lesson or some play doh - something as the main pool for swimming is quite cold. Maybe I expected too much :) Rooms are lovely and food it good for babies so maybe that is the main target. Anyone over 2/3 years of age - I’d expect healthier options and never ever expect to see chicken nuggets or fish fingers let near the place!!

Firstly the resort itself is lovely, beautiful grounds, big spacious rooms, and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Went with my boys aged 9 & 7 who loved it BUT - the main pool, which is the nicest area to be in the daytime, is unheated and just way too cold! This meant we didn’t want to hang out there so ended up at the kids playground area where there is a small heated pool but has nowhere comfortable for adults to sit...all in all we had a good time but wouldn’t go back unless the main pool was heated as it made a big difference to the holiday
