We have just returned from a lovely short break at this resort hotel. Although it is mainly a family resort, we travelled as a mature couple, leaving our "children" at home with the dog, but we still enjoyed the relaxation of the hotel. and did not feel odd. Of course there are lots of young children around, but the hotel is arranged so that it maintains the feel and elegence of a top class location. All the staff offer 5 star service whilst still providing a chilled vibe for parents and their children - I would have loved to experienced this when my children were small. The grounds were well maintained and provided peaceful areas to stroll around or look out on - note: a few benches/ chairs where one can just sit and chill out would have been nice. Our room was wonderful, spacious and relaxing. It had a lovely wide balcony with views over the garden and down onto the spa pool. The bathroom was big and bright with a good size bath and seperate walk-in shower. A good hairdryer was provided, unattached so easy to use whereever - personally I hate the small little hairdryers often provided in hotels, attached to the wall which overheat after a few minutes- so this was good. Our double bed was huge and very comfy - great for stretching out Toiletries provided were by the spa range Voya - smell and feel so good. The 'pool hangout' area was closed whilst we were there - out of season - but we walked by and had a look and I guess when open it would be a good place to relax and swim. What is also good about it's location is that it is set away from the main building, so if you were on your room balcony wanting some peace I don't think you would be disturbed by any noise that often comes with a pool area. In fact this is the same with the Kids Club area, rooms do not look over it, so again I do not think any happy noise coming from it would cause an issue. Speaking of the Kids club it looks very well thought out with lots of fun things, but being on our own I had no excuse for going in and finding out for myself! Breakfast provided a good range of hot and cold food and the food at dinner was well presented and flavoursome. Desserts were very creative - the apple crumble was an extremely clever, skillful and unusual variation of a familiar pudding. Hats off to the pastry chef. The location is set outside of Cascais. We did not have a car. For a short trip we decided not to bother with one but we managed to get out and about using either public transport, taxis, hotel shuttle or our feet. A 5 minute walk out of the hotel takes you down to the coast - not a beach but the cliffs of the coast - from there a good foot/cycle path takes you either to Cascais or out to Guincho Beach. We took a leisurely walk into town one day ( about one hour but that was with stopping to look at views etc), but we also availed of the the hotel shuttle on another day to be dropped off. There is also a bus that connects you to Cascais or Guincho. We had a relaxing time in a beautiful spot enjoying some some spring warmth. I would come again, perhaps not during school holiday period - but then I'd try to avoid that now anywhere - and will definitely recommend to members of the family with young children.

Hotel Martinhal Cascais is one of the best we ever visited (and we travel very often). Very nice hotel with a good location near by the sea, the best staff (everytime with smile, helpful and friendly, nothing is a problem) and wonderful rooms - in the most comfortable beds we enjoyed every second. Also the breakfast was delicious, lounge bar had very wide choice and the pool area indoor as well outdoor offers very pleasant place to relax. Simply a perfect experience with Portugal. Hopefully we were not last time in this hotel, we are already planning our next stay in Martinhal :-)

We booked the baby’s first holiday package as it was our first significant holiday with our 7 month old son and it worked brilliantly. The room was fully equipped with everything we needed from the cot to the steriliser to baby bath. Our son enjoyed himself immensely in the baby club and swimming pool and all the staff were so friendly and made him feel special. We weren’t forgotten either - the treatments in the spa were lovely and relaxing and the food in the restaurants was always good as was the wine selection! Everyone was so friendly and helpful but especially Vinicius and Felipe in the O Terraco restaurant, Mariana and Nadia at breakfast, Anna from the kids club and babysitting service and Constanca from guest relations (apologies for the poor spelling of names!) Thank you for a great holiday!

This hotel has thought of almost everything for a family. Extremely kid-friendly amenities but hasn't lost the sophistication and elegant design of a classy hotel. The bunk beds were a hit for our little one, and she loved the kid-sized flip-flops and robes that came with the room. Hunting for fairy houses was also a hit. The pool was a little cool for our taste, but large and a lot of fun nonetheless, with a big lawn ringing the pool for comfortable lounging. The large play area and the kids club were also lots of fun, with activities for a variety of ages. FYI, the covered pool near the kids club was almost always empty when we were there, and quite hot and. humid inside as well. Take advantage of renting the bikes for a ride up and down the coast--a breeze when you rent the electric bikes. To go even further down the coast, ask the front desk to arrange a car rental for you. Our only suggestion for improvement were the hours of the restaurants. We often couldn't get dinner before 7:00 pm, which is usually bedtime for our little one. We are sold on Martinhal and hope it expands to more markets!

The overall experience for the family it is what creates the best memories! I am trilled that you had a great time with lots of fun! Besides, regarding your concerns, I am pleased to inform that restaurant OTerraço is open for dinner at 18h00 and that at the current moment, we are doing some improvement work on the kids club pool. So I really look forward to welcome you back in 2020! Once again, thank you for your honesty and I look forward to receive you all once again at Martinhal soon! My family and I are back from our three night stay at the Martinhal, and we wish we had more time there. The staff is extremely welcoming, professional, and made for a wonderful stay. The staff were very kind and lovely to our children, and this is a top notch family resort. Many hotels and resorts sadly discriminate against families with three children. It is easier to book for 2 children, but 3 is sometimes difficult. The Martinhal were very open and accepted our 3 small children in the deluxe superior room. Our kids loved the room, and so did my wife and I. We had a luxury experience, as the rooms were beautiful. The breakfast was amazing as well. The kids club was excellent, and the resort hired terrific people to watch over the kids. I have absolutely no negatives to write about the experience at the Martinhal. They gave us a great rate, and went above and beyond expectations. We hope to stay at this property, or another Martinhal again. The owner has an amazing concept of a first rate resort coupled with a family friendly experience. Their company is apparently opening up a residential experience in Lisbon as well, which looks like an amazing opportunity.
