this is an ok golf hotel but not more. large rooms. decent golf course directly at the atlantic ocean which offers some great views. breakfast ok. dinner quality quite good. friendly service. but all in all does not feel like a 5 star hotel rather like a 4 star max.
I had a group of 31 staying at The Oitavos for 6 nights. Each guest room was actually a very large suite with views of the ocean and golf course. The staff was very welcoming and so accommodating. The food was a 10+. We enjoyed a lovely barbecue overlooking the golf course on our first night. The breakfast had every item imaginable and the wait staff was top notch. If you are a golfer, the course is one of the top rated in Portugal with fabulous views of the ocean. My only regret is not being able to stay longer. On a 1-10 scale, I give this hotel a solid 15! Stayed here for 3 nights for golfing holiday. The hotel is fantastic and the staff couldn't do more to for you. Great breakfasts. Rooms are huge and full of modern amenities. Each has a private balcony with views over the dunes. The golf course was good, not brilliant, but right on site with a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. 5 min taxi drive to Cascais, or a number of great restaurants. Loved the hotel and will definitely be gone back
We stayed in the property for 7 nights initially which we extended to 11 and everything from start to finish was first class. The room was amazing and the balcony was completely private. All the amenities - the pool, food and the spa are five star. I had two deep tissue massages by Vanessa which were the best I have ever had. The hotel was so elegant and very quiet and was an excellent base for many great day trips. We will certainly be back for many more holidays in the future.
Oitavos We got picked up at the airport and driven to the hotel. The first impression, it looks like a big conference building. Ones inside, it’s modern. Checked in with no fuss. Nice spacious room with big balcony. The showerhead function did not work. Not enough hangers. I had to call the front desk to ask for more. We had sushi on the first night, a great sushi chef but let down by waiters who dint seem attentive to serve but were polite when we asked. Nice clean outside pool. Don’t be fooled by the extra horse riding and tennis. You literally have to take a 25min taxi to the location. The hotel misleads and advertises like it’s close by, but it’s not. It’ll take 30min walk The room service menu is horrendous, I would never recommend. From presentation to taste, we were very disappointed, we couldn’t eat the food.…
What a shame ! The beautiful landscape ruined and taken over by this humming Monster in metal and glass. A rather weird experience in such a beautiful setting. It’s a mixture between staying in a potentially cool space ship ( as shown in movies - real spaceships are more limited in space ) and a tankship. The Rooms are huge and so are the corridors, endless and plain and at the end they have some quite fantastic views of the ocean and the sunset. The intention was there, if the Metal of the balustrades only was not already rusty. I was hoping to hear the ocean sleeping with an open window - which leads to a generous private balcony btw- but all you can hear is the massive air conditioning plant on the roof top- you can not only hear it, you can also feel the vibration rattling through your bones- this is how I imagine sleeping next to the machine room of a ship not in a 5 star hotel. The interior is dated already after 10 years and beyond uninspiring - it could have quite the potential really… but the plant noise - humming and vibrating over the soothing sound of the ocean is truly unbearable. It’s got a spa with very friendly staff but the corridor or hall rather you have to walk through to get there smells like they had emptied 3 tonnes of nail polish remover- a public bath feels more comfortable than that. If you are looking to connect wit nature don’t come here - if you want to feel like sleeping below a trainline track this might be for you ! The hotel manager promised me some noise when I arrived when I was worried about the lack of life and he delivered I guess… … it’s definitely quieter and more peaceful in the city than in this establishment. Don’t go ! …
I live 20min from Oitavos and still choose oitavos to spend a relaxed weekend. THE PLACE IS JUST AMAZING! Rooms are generously big, views are beautiful, staff is great and the breakfast is as good as breakfast get. Really a 10/10 experience. I can’t comprehend how people can give a bad review to this place, seriously!
It was our second stay in the hotel and we enjoyed it again very much. We only can repeat what we wrote in our October 2017 review. We (a couple) booked a prepaid arrangement „Stay and Play Golf & Breakfast“ in a Premium Loft in august/September 2020.We booked directly with the hotel. Booking process was very efficient. We got exactly the room we asked for. Our room was wonderful on the 3rd floor and the ocean view amazing. When we arrived with our car, a staff member took immediately charge of our luggage and brought it with no delay to our room. Check-in was very friendly and fast. You like or you don’t like the modern design of the hotel. We like it. Breakfast opens at 07.00. We entered the breakfast room always at 07.00 and found a perfect prepared and exceptional buffet. We asked for special coffees (Cappucino and double Expresso with hot milk); they were served very fast by very nice personal. After the 3rd day we got our coffees without having to ask for. This is service! Golfbags and buggy were always ready when we went to the Caddy room around 07.30. Great service again. We had lunch at the Club House and at the Hotel Terrace and were also very satisfied. Nice hosts, good food and wonderful view. We will call again.…
DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT PROBLEMS!! HORRIBLE SERVICE, CHEAP DECORATION AND RUDE STAFF!! Yesterday Thursday 8/20/20 we checked in to the Oitavos Hotel where we had booking the Oitavos Suite (which the réception called the « best suite in the hotel ») and were shocked by the low quality service (For example, we booked the best suite and no one even accompanied us to our room to show us the room! Many more problems with the service followed) and the low quality building (the lobby looks like an airport) and the suite itself. It is very far from 5 star quality. Not to mention that they don’t even had a spa open everyday in the high season and they can’t even offer you basic services like providing tennis balls for tennis. And the golf carts they used to show us the Forte villa (which was a 15 minutes « off road » drive from the hotel) were falling apart. What a joke. We immediately told the reception that this hotel was not up to the standards of a 5 Star hotel and that not only would we not stay, we would cancel our entire Portugal trip and go back to France as a result. The manager on duty was apologetic and offered to reimburse us 100% of our stay, which we had paid for upon arrival. As it was already 4pm at this point, and the next flight to Marseille was the next day on Friday, he said that there was no problem to stay 1 night and he would reimburse the remaining. Unfortunately we only had problems after staying, so much so that we should have left immediately and found another hotel for the night! Everything was wrong, the dinner order and breakfast orders from room service were delivered incorrectly, the hotel called the wrong car to take us to the airport (we specifically asked for a Mercedes van - and confirmed it in the morning ! - and the reception ordered a sedan), among other things. The service is very low quality all together. Honestly like staying at an airport Novotel. You can not even call this hotel 4 stars. Maybe 3, between the bad service, the weak product offer (I have never seen such a short room service menu in a 5 star hotel) and the low quality furnishings in the room - it looks like a dorm room in a university, or a hospital rehabilitation room! Not to mention the « Sea View » is totally blocked by construction cranes. To make matters worse, when we arrived at the front desk to settle the bill for the extras, the receptionist refused to reimburse us as the Manager on duty yesterday had promised! He could not reach the Manager on duty George on the phone (he works the afternoon shift) and the General Manager refused to honor the promises of the Manager on Duty George. What a horrible customer service. Shameful that you call yourself 5 stars.…
I stayed here in offseason.. late Feb/March 2020. Checkin was smooth and the staff was warm and inviting. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a great view of the golf course and Atlantic Ocean. The room was very spacious.. with a king bed, seating area, with a large TV... desk, coffee maker... complimentary water bottle.. bathroom had a bidet, shower and a separate tub that looked out to the golf course. private patio was great for coffee.. the room also had a safe... would stay here again!
