The property is very beautiful, but unfortunately run down, the room service was terrible. The mattresses were worn out, you could feel the iron in the spring cores. The breakfast was very disorganized. The restaurant food is not recommended, not really enjoyable. There were always events in the courtyard with loud guests. It's a good thing we changed after five days. Never again!

There is no doubt that the old house with rooms in this place is very beautiful, but the bungalows that are around lack character and are well dated. I guess that are suitable for families, since they have a living room and a small kitchen area, but could do with a bit of an uplift. The service was not brilliant either since they did not offer help to take the luggage to the bungalow. Then I had a problem with the shower, which did not have enough water pressure and no hot water and when I spoke to the reception, they told me that they would not be able to get anyone to fix it until the next day. Thats fine, but I was not offered to be moved to another one, and they were plenty of empty one. The following day the problem continued, and the answer I got is that it was reported as sorted out by the maintenance people, but again no will to check if that was true and to keep the customer satisfied. They could have offered a complimentary breakfast which was not included in the rate as a compensation for the poor shower facilities but that was not considered. The breakfast was sad, with low quality products and not much to chose from. On the other hand, the location is very good, the grounds are lovely, the swimming pool looked very inviting and as I said, the old house is lovely and maybe the rooms are nicer there. However, I will not stay here again if I come to this part of the island in the future

We stayed in a spacious bungalow at this peaceful hotel. The garden is fairly large and beautiful, although not full of well-tended flower borders. More of a forest.
The kitchenette has a microwave and "hotplates" , which we had to ask to be able to operate! Worked very well, but somehow one got the impression that one really wasn't expected to do much cooking. But we managed fine, although I would have preferred to have a dish cloth instead of a table cloth!
We had contact with three "receptionists", but only one of them spoke more than very little English. On the other hand, she was most helpful; gave as salt, papper and washing-up-liquid for our kitchen, booked a whale watching trip etc.
The location is fine if you have a car or intend to spend most of your time at the hotel (which wouldn't be wrong).
However, this is a good hotel!

We passed by and saw Restaurante Solar do Conde!!!!
A big, huge piece of rubbish. Starting in the room where they took us... 1 room with a lot of old mirrors and without any ventilation or air conditioning.
Bad service, not even 1 bottle of iced water... we asked for garlic bread... it came with stale bread far away from any garlic
There wasn't even a salt shaker... they gave me one that didn't come out of salt. I ordered a hot cheese, which came cold. A pasta that arrived warm and I still don't know if it was a pasta salad with grilled chicken breast without any seasoning. A disaster !!!! As a hotel, I can't vouch for anything, but as a restaurant... a SHIT

Accommodation consists of either bungalows or terraced apartments (we had a bungalow) The bungalow has a kitchen with a small fridge, a microwave, a stove and dishes. Attention, there is no oven.
There is free parking and a swimming pool.
There is a large park with many interesting plants and trees.
Breakfast and dinner were great :-)

The room smelled pretty bad because it was damp and wasn't clean either. The elevator was blocked and you had to carry your suitcase up and down. One day there wasn't even room service.
The morning buffet wasn't generous but it was good.

We recommend it, a very welcoming place, very kind staff always ready for every request. Rooms always clean and abundant breakfast with vegan and gluten-free options. The location is perfect as it is 10 minutes from Ponta delgada

The hotel is in a shocking state! The so-called botanical gardens are non-existent, the courtyard is a construction site, room service is 'for tomorrow', the pool is green, our room is freezing - bathroom at 17° and air conditioning not working until next week!!

We have been at this place for three nights. We had a room in the main house which was really nice and clean. The bathroom was small but very new which was absolutely ok for us. The only thing that bothered us was the breakfast. Only one kind of cheese and ham and the juices tasted like they were diluted with water. The croissants tasted like they were a few days old.

We booked this hotel for the last night of our week in Sao Miguel as it is very quick to drive to the airport and we hadn't visited the North West of the island. To be honest I didn't research it very carefully, except to see it had good reviews, and when it came to choosing a room it was only about £3 more to have a suite rather than a room (they were both very reasonable prices). I chose the suite and when we got there couldn't believe it! Like a previous reviewer this was definitely the best hotel room I have ever stayed in. We had a four poster bed, large bathroom and lounge with large fireplace couch, chairs, a solid wood table and even a piano! As well as this there were 2 further bedrooms and a shower room that we didn't use at all. What made it even better was the lovely old furniture, ornaments and pictures which made it so beautiful and authentic. The grounds were lovely, there was a nice bar and we ate the set meal in the restaurant which was nice and very reasonable. The breakfast by the pool was very good too and service throughout was excellent. There didn't seem to be a lot to do in the village but it was interesting to walk down to have a look around. I think there are swimming pools and it was a good place to base yourself to explore the west of the island and Seta Cidades However, the main thing was the wonderful building and I would recommend a stay in one of the suites to anyone.
