We stayed here for a few days and had one of the large lodge rooms (with its own lounge and kitchen area). The furnishings are on the basic side but it was spotless and everything worked. Powerful shower with plenty of hot water and loads of storage space. The food options in the restaurant were a little limited, which really is the only local choice unless you're prepared to get in a car and travel, but it was all very acceptable. Friendly service and a good price for what you get.
We were so excited to stay at Aldeia da Fonte, it should have been the highlight of our trip! We were a bit disappointed though as the room (studio) wasn’t as good as we hoped (and payed for!). It’s dark (that’s ok as you spend most of your time outside) some parts in the bathroom are moist, the fridge is old and dirty, the kitchenette is only a sink and an old boiler. The rooms are humid and you can find some bugs here and there but that’s the Azores and nature! The swimming pool is nice, and all the surrounding gorgeous. It’s not a kids friendly hotel I would say. Staff is kind and helpful. I take two stars out because the hotel needs to be refurbished to keep up with they’re prices. The restaurant was disappointing but that will be a different review!
I stayed here for one night in July 2019. The hotel is nestled in jungle-like vegetation, with many places to walk or pause. The pool and ocean platforms were a nice respite from being in airplanes and travel vans. The rooms are quite comfortable and the larger suite rooms have a large common living space. The included breakfast was diverse and the hotel has a nice patio for dinner and drinks (although service stars winding down at 9:30). Highly recommended if you want something different from the typical hotel.
I love to stay there as often as I can! Full nature and harmony in this quiet place overviewing the ocean ... rooms and suites displayed in 6 lava stones traditional houses listening to the ocean waves and birds when going to bed... excellent restaurant and delicious breakfast... the owner is practicing yoga and meditation so the place offers many places to relax as the Zen Garden, the sauna , the swimming pool and platforms to relax and swim in the ocean... have fun and relax there !
Gorgeous grounds all around, breathtaking panoramic views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we could stay longer. It is a wonderful hotel, in Silveira of all places, who knew?! We found the beds altho not comfy & thick like home but adequate, we slept well and the fan worked very well. The bathroom with a tub, very comfortable, we've only seen showers during our Açores' travels. Enjoyed the bath very much. I also was thrilled to find a kettle in my room as I brought some green tea for peaceful mornings. I had a chance to use the fitness room & the sauna. They’ve got an ERG machine, loved that! The sauna was very good. The staff are attentive, they gave us big fluffy beach towels in an instant. The swimming pool is great, awesome vistas @yr feet. I’ve only got GOOD things to say about the entire staff. They are v. Helpful, go above/beyond. The restaurant is authentic, delicious Açorean fare, we just loved it, ate ALL our meals there. Right now I’m planning my visit back to the restaurant, can’t wait!! It’s the best restaurant in Lajes do Pico, and we tried them all:)))))) We are from San Francisco, the Bay Area, accustomed to exceptional restaurants, & Fonte Hotel did not disappoint. …
