Detailed Reviews
A great last-minute place to stay whilst on a friend's holiday! My boyfriend and I decided to extend our holiday very last minute to spend time in Sagres with some of our friends from home. A panic search for a room for the night resulted in finding this gem! The lady on reception warmly welcomed us, provided a hair dryer, a large bottle of water, and a bottle of wine! We were made up after a long day. The rooms are basic but clean and have absolutely everything you need, including a spacious balcony overlooking a cute residential side street. The hotel is a stone's throw away from Tonel Beach which we visited to do bodyboarding but unfortunately, the waves were too high so moved onto Beliche Beach which was a 5 min drive down the road - not bad at all! The swimming pool is great, very clean, and is provided with clean toilets, a pool shower, and ample sun loungers. Upon check-out of the room, the ladies in reception (including the lady who checked us in) went above and beyond to ensure we were accommodated by allowing us to leave our suitcases in their locked office whilst we explored Sagres and letting us use the pool and outdoor shower whilst we waited for our airport transfer. We fell in love with Sagres and will definitely be coming back to both the town and Tonel Apartments.

Very basic, but a good value, and the view (from rooms with a view) is fantastic. The walls are thin; we could hear a lot from the neighboring apartments. Everyone quieted down at a decent hour, though. We had trouble figuring out how to operate the space heaters, so be sure to arrive before the desk service closes down for the night, so you can get help if you need it. In all, a good low-cost overnight with a kitchen, and probably a great place for semi-communal summer living.

We had booked a double room for just 21 euros a night but as soon as we checked out the appartments we upgraded for a few euros more as they really are lovely. Spacious with big balconies & lots of space for cooking/dining & chilling. Tonel is right on the beach (over the road, down a short path and you're there!) with shops/bars & restaurants a 10/15 minute walk. We were so enchanted with our appartment we stocked up at the supermarket & ate in for 3 days. Perfect! The kitchen equipment is basic though. A few wooden spoons, a jug & a veggie peeler would have made a massive improvement & there was just one socket for the kettle/toaster/coffee machine & microwave so a bit of juggling each morning was needed but hardly a problem. Also, there was a bit of noise from chairs scraping floors directly above so i would go for a top floor next time. This place is perfect for anyone not looking for lots of nightlife right on the beach.

I spend a lot of time in Portugal, especially in the Western Algarve. Sagres itself it a bit of an end of the road town but it does have two stunning beaches and the surfs good. It is a good base to explore bot the South and West Coasts both of which are beautiful, especially the National Park.
I have stayed at Tonel Apartamentos Turisticos over a dozen times. It is where I stay if I haven't got the family with me, simply because there aren't any facilities for children. I did note however on my last trip that they are digging a pool out!
The apartments are tucked away in a quiet location at the edge West edge of town just off the road to Cape St. Vincent. Tonel beach is just a short walk away - ideal for an early morning surf check. There is plenty of parking.
The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. The decor is a little bit old fashioned but again, on my last trip the bathrooms had all been re-decorated to a high standard. All the rooms I have stayed in have large balconies with sea and countryside views. There is free WI-FI and if you are so inclined a TV. The kitchen is great and there are enough utensils to cook a large meal. The smaller rooms have a nice sheltered and sunny area with sun loungers to relax.
If the waves are good you can surf out front all day. Otherwise it's just a short drive to any of the South or Western facing beaches. There are endless opportunities.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. I am looking forward to my next trip!

We stayed here just for 1 night on a drive from Lisbon to the Algarve. Basic little apartment with a full kitchen which was nice. Very clean! Not very soundproof, but thankfully it quieted down at night for sleeping. Very hard bed in our room, but we managed to sleep. Extra blankets but no extra pillows. No bathroom toiletries - or dish soap in kitchen. We were on the second floor, small balcony to enjoy the outdoors and view. TV in the main living area, not in the bedroom. Hair dryer available from front desk. There is a pool on site with bathroom facilities but as it was fairly chilly the evening we were there we didn't make use of it, but it looked very nice.
Easy walk to beautiful Praia Do Tonel (beach) and easy drive to the lighthouse to watch the sunset at "the end of the earth". Very friendly front desk staff. Easy access to town with shops and markets, groceries. Really couldn't beat it for the price.

I shared one double room with a friend in this place and everything went almost fine. We went in low season (November) and the price through booking was great: 20€ per room, with bathroom inside. Very simple room, not old, not new, but clean. The only problem was that there were workers repairing our room's facade and the noise was unbearable. Once we spoke to the recepcionist, they stop working in that facade.
It isn't a wonderfut place, but taking into account the price we paid, the quality-price ratio was great.

Apartments are close to the sea and within walking distance of a good supermarket. Room was spacious and decoration was fine. Heaters were provided in main room and bedroom which are needed in the winter. Kitchen would have benefited with containers which could be placed in the microwave and also a measuring jug. An extra electrical socket in the kitchen area would have also been useful but wasn't too much of a problem. As I am a light sleeper and I found noise from other guests late at night, throughout the night (on one occasion) and early morning meant that I could not sleep without earplugs. This was general noise e.g.moving around, shutting/slamming doors -especially the exterior doors, scraping of furniture and probably due to lack of soundproofing rather than people being exceptionally noisy.

I really liked the stay there! The room was spacious and clean with a great view over the endless fields. The staff was really nice and helpfull trying to sort out my problems with a laundry in Lisbon. The hotel is a bit secluded, but it is near the restaurants, shops, taxi stand and, which is more important, the castle and beach. That is the hotel I would like to get back again.

I do not recommend this place at all.
Such a shameful behaviour!!!
I booked this place via URL as we wanted to spend one night in Sagres.
In two days I have received this sh** email thay if I want to stay I need to pay +50€ as they had error im their system. WTF???? THIS IS YOUR FAULT not mine!!!
And what is more shameful? I have responded that obviously they need to assume this issue AAAAAAND? nobody answer...
Really? This is how you treat people? This is how you solve your very own issue?
You are lucky that this is not via any agency or tour operator as I would fry you with complain that you cannot even imagine!!!!
So for everyone, MAKE SURE you book place that treats you well, otherwise they will ruin you vacay!!!!

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your query. Our apartments don't have air conditioning, however Sagres town is quite on the cool side of Algarve, due to the north winds. In the winter time all the apartments are heated.
Feel welcome to ask more information.
Sincerely
Tonel Apartments staff
