Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 2 nights in Room 202, which may offer the best views of the cliffs. It was pretty spectacular from the room, and of course from the balcony.
We booked via Booking.com (from Trip Advisor) at 130E/night in a "Superior Double room with a view" which also included a very nice breakfast with freshly squeezed juices, a large selection of breads and fresh fruits. The coffee was just meh.
The room was spacious, the bed was super comfy and the towels and linens were of very good quality. Bath robes were included and were nice too.
There was plenty of convenient and free parking in front of the hotel. The staff were each AMAZINGLY wonderful. Top notch folks, a real pleasure to deal with.
The hotel is only 2 floors, but we used the elevator, at least going up. We're not as young as we once were and the warranty on the knees has expired.....This is especially enjoyed when handling luggage, although when you check in they will take care of all of that for you.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and it was very good. We had a steak and a chicken entree and enjoyed both. Also enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine we received when we checked in. (The catch is that the voucher is only good if you eat in the restaurant......but the wine itself was of decent quality, fyi)
Hope you found this review helpful. Our room was blissfully comfortable and quiet and we can't imagine even considering staying anywhere else in Sagres. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay at Pousada de Sagres. The location is stunning, set out amidst the cliffs and surrounded by water. We were greeted warmly by Rute and while we waited for our covid rapid test results (mandatory at the time) were treated to a delicious aperitif.
Our sea view rooms were clean and comfortable, opening to a balcony overlooking a bright blue swimming pool and tiki huts, the beach and ocean, and in the distance, the fortress. There were paths from the hotel to the cliffs overlooking the ocean in both directions, and we enjoyed several walks while taking in the scenery.
The hotel was very quiet when we were there in January. The building and doors feel solid and were were not bothered by any noise. Temperatures in our rooms were easy to control and the showers were nice, with rainfall shower heads and plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was delicious and well stocked, with a wide assortment including eggs, potatoes, pastries, breads, fresh fruit and juices.
We enjoyed our stay so much we extended another night. We hope to come back!

We stayed here in January during low season and we had a fantastic stay. The beds are super comfortable, the breakfast is lovely, the staff is very friendly. We were upgraded to a better room and a complementary bottle of wine was given to us upon arrival. We had our 8 month baby with us and the staff was always very helpful with fetching us a baby chair and helping us with breakfast for her in the morning. The view takes your breath away every time you see it! The pool, restaurant and bar are facing the sea, so you get to experience the view as much as you want. Definitely worth a visit during low season!

We enjoyed our stay here and what separated it from the pack of other pousadas weve stayed in (alot!) was the attention to detail. We were welcomed by friendly outgoing staff and nothing was too much to ask. We received our COVID packs with gloves, masks and gels. Our room was tidy and kept immaculate. BThing gels, hand wash and shampoo all available. Breakfast was done in shifts and served individually. Eggs made to order, fresh fruit and hot coffee served. We were pleased and social distancing was followed. The outdoor area has not only a nice pool but gorgeous views of Sagres fort, the ocean and nice tiled seats for viewing the vista or the beach below. The area is very peaceful and relaxing. Common rooms are available as well. The rooms are cozy and you will enjoy super comfy beds with pillows to match. With the ocean as the lullaby, who could ask for more ?! Thanks to everyone who made our stay so pleasant.

There are four categories of Pousadas in Portugal (from Wikipedia):
1. Pousadas Históricas (Historic Pousadas), located in well preserved yet unspoiled national monuments, such as convents, monasteries, castles or fortresses;
2. Pousadas Históricas Design (Historic Design Pousadas), also in monuments, castles, convents, fortresses and palaces that were vastly renovated, sporting artistic and contemporary decoration and facilities;
3. Pousadas Natureza (Nature Pousadas), in natural countryside locations;
4. Pousadas Charme (Charm Pousadas), located in areas of romantic, unique atmosphere.
"Charming Hotel" in the name of this facility means that it belongs to the 4th. category. Do not expect a converted castle or monastery when you come here.
The 3 of us stayed here in two rooms for a week in early June. Our room had a fantastic view of the swimming pool, beach and the fortress. Beautiful sunsets. Please note that there are other (less expensive) rooms, also correctly advertised with "sea view" but they face the opposite direction, overlooking the parking lot.
Location is excellent, but you need a car to get to the beach.
The staff was very helpful, the breakfasts were excellent. We also had dinner in the hotel several times, and we concluded that it is equally good or better than other two places within walking distance, both highly rated: the Vila Velha and the Restaurante Carlos (prices about the same). The service in the Restaurant was great.
The Hotel did not get a perfect score because the bathrooms were a bit dated, with no showers, only bath tubs. (On the positive side: the bath tubs were not slippery, so we did not have to worry about falling). Also, the swimming pool was not heated, and the water was very cold at the time we were there.

Dear Mr./Mrs. lm-gym, On behalf of our entire team at Pousada de Sagres, we would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Your opinion is crucial for us to continuously improve in anticipating our Guests' needs, preferences, and expectations. We were glad to read that, overall, you enjoyed your stay at Pousada de Sagres. At the same time, we would like to apologize for not fully meeting your expectations in some instances. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and we have shared your comments with our teams to ensure that improvements will be made. Please note the following: - That information about the 4 categorys of Pousadas are outdated, and when we had those, the Pousada de Sagres was considered Nature Pousada. - These rooms facing the oposite side, we have them listed as Graden View since ever, never advertised as sea view, allthough they have a Partial Sea View, better than some listed sea views around the world. - We do have 29 Rooms with BathTub, but also other 22 Rooms with WalkinShower. It was a real pleasure for us to have you as our Guest, and we hope you will give us another opportunity to welcoming you again at Pousada de Sagres and regain your trust during your next visit. Warm regards, Miguel Joaquim - Front Desk Manager Pousada de Sagres

The view over the Atlantic Ocean is great here bt the rooms are very dull, oldfashioned and not worth the price of 285 Euro per night.
Two narrow single beds, very poor thin mattresses, two silly botles of water, not even cooled, the fridge was disconnected, no aminities, nohting. Be happy you got a bed and some towels.
Not worth the money.

Dear Karel V, We would like to thank you for choosing Pestana Pousada de Sagres for the place tor enjoy The Time of Your Life in the magnificent Algarve! We regret to hear that we didn't meet your expectations in total and on behalf of the whole Pousada de Sagres Team, please accept our sincere apologies. The comments you address to us are an incentive for a constant improvement of our services. Exceeding Guests expectations is our main goal. I am sorry but i cannot totally agree with you as you just overnight and the experience is not fulfilled. Beds and mattresses are in good condition and revised every year Through our Pestana APP you would be able to see that there are a lot of services available on request as rooms must not have contact points from possible other Guests as recommendations from Health Authorities. Free and plastic bottles of water to grab & go, a whole range of amenities available in the APP and if you just overnight it's impossible to get the whole experience. How about Tv, free wifi, free online and downloadable worldwide newspaper and magazine, the most regional breakfast, nice swimming pool, historical and well decorated common areas/rooms, bar, a great restaurant, very antique and high valued "tapetes de Portalegre" decoration, and all the care and measures taken regarding to Covid 19. We hope to have a second chance to change your mind about our Hotel. Kind Regards, João Alhais | Unit Manager

Very bad experience at the check in.
Asked to pay for the rooms when checking in and when we have been to other hotels before we have never been asked to pay when checking in.
We questioned it and I was told that people have ran away without paying sometimes.
There was no policy displayed for guests to read and there was no email sent when we were booking regarding payment when checking in. Besides that,the receptionist was very rude. There was a moment where the Receptionist followed one of our family members when leaving the hotel to explore outdoors to pay for the rooms.
Spa was advertised but on arrival we were told that we can't see it because it was dirty . Until we left the hotel we didn't get to use the spa.
No ironing in the rooms
If needed you have to pay for the ironing service.
One of the rooms had ants.

Dear Mr. / Mrs. 667daiam, Thank you for providing us with your feedback about your experience at Pousada de Sagres. Your opinion is essential for us to improve. We would like to sincerely apologize for not fully meeting your expectations and for any inconvenience this may have caused. However, regarding payment on arrival, the receptionist only applied the Pestana Group's payment policy, where all our guests must pay their stay at check-in and pay the additional consumption at check-out if they wish to do so. As far as the Spa is concerned, the Pousada has a massage room that had just been used when you placed the order, so we needed to clean it up. I apologize if the message was not conveyed correctly, but in fact, all guests, whenever they book a massage through our Pestana App or directly at the reception desk, can enjoy this space. Finally, I am sorry for the inconvenience of the ants in your room, we always try to clean and with a certificated partner company, eliminate as much as possible the instruction of the ants in our guests' room, sometimes making it difficult to control. We share your feedback with our teams to ensure improvements are made. Thank you for staying at the Pousada de Sagres. We hope that this experience has not permanently tarnished your impression of our Pousada. We will be happy to change it during your next stay. Yours sincerely, Ana Nascimento Unit manager

We had a sea view room, with a little balcony overlooking the bay and fortress of Sagres.
The swimming pool has salt water and is comfortably big, but it could do with some cleaning.
We decided not to have dinner at the Pousada, just cocktails, and they were disappointing: we had better caipirinhas in small bars about everywhere else in Portugal!
Breakfast was excellent , with a large choice of savoury and sweet options.

We had a great experience and the room was wonderful. As they weren't fully booked, they upgraded us two levels higher to a premium view room without us even asking. The location is very private and quiet, close to nature walks and historical sites.
The manager, Sylvia, was very kind and helpful, always with a smile on her face and a cheery attitude.

As I recall, check in and check out times were pretty typical- probably in at 3 and out by noon- but you could just email them and inquire. As for left luggage : I suspect they would just put your things in the office behind the check in counter. This is a pretty informal place (although strangely the service is fairly old school and proper) in the sense that there were hardly any guests there when we stayed in mid to late May. We found the pousadas all to be fairly responsive to our requests so they would probably work with you regarding your checkin/checkout/baggage issues.
