It's small, quiet off street hotel. The location is safe with not high crime history. They have security guards 24h. Rooms are small but clean with all you need but not electric cattle. Breakfast is served in the dining area. In the evening you can order all sorts of pizza & other Italian meals prepared by the chef. It's really yummy stuff he makes. As surreal as it sounds I had in Nigeria in Marian Guest House the most decision tiramisu I've ever had in my life. There is also small pool for relaxation where you can have e a beer. All sinked & surrounded by deep green vegetation what makes this place unique & gives home feel. On top personal is lovely & on top of their duties.
The location is excellent as it's pretty quiet, close to Meia Praia as well as the Marina, and the staff seem friendly enough (although we rarely saw them tbf) Stayed for a week and never once received fresh towels/sheets but it was also the noise level from others, the walls are pretty thin and sound echo's in the hallways, which made for a pretty poor night's sleep coupled with the heat (no fans or a/c) The reason I rated so low is also down to the price, having stayed many times in Lagos (I like to stay in different hotels etc.) this place was quite pricey in comparison and sadly doesn't live up to it's price tag.
Overall good place with clean room and bathroom, however, absolutely horrendous experience with staff member! Booked this accommodation because it said the reception is open until 23:30 and we were to arrive pretty late. Had problems with our car on a way and realized we will be a bit late. Panicked and called accommodation to say we will arrive closer to midnight, so 30 minutes late from the said official closing time. Guy on a phone said they are closing at 22:00 (???!!!). Well I didn't know that because website states 23:30. However the guy assured that we should not worry, someone will be there to let us in. When we arrived at midnight there was nobody. Called the same number of accommodation, the guy assured someone will come soon. Waited outside for ONE HOUR in a middle of the night. Eventually someone came moaning and shouting on us that we are late 2 HOURS LATE. Ignored my apologies that I called in advance to say we will be late, that I was assured it's fine and my questions why they closed at 22:00 even though website says 23:30.... I just felt happy he eventually let us inside....…
The good: low price, relatively decent location, cute decor, nice staff. The not-so-good: staff rarely available...sign on door to phone as she was out briefly..but coming from a different continent, we could not use our phone. Staff finally arrived when a passerby saw us sitting and waiting to check-in, and phoned the staff person. We went out, returned after dark to a dark guestroom...fumbling and tripping, unable to locate light switches in common areas. When we wanted to check out..again no staff...we couldn't lock the door and just left the key on the desk. Very strong scent to blankets...I am not typically sensitive to this, but had a significant allergic reaction. Bed is very hard.
I was in Lagos for some days and chose this guest house. This was just PERFECT! Location, room, staff! If I ever visit Lagos, this is the place to choose! I strongly recommend! Really close to the Marina. The owner always prepared us salda, house made wine and was always happy and with a smile.
