Casa Mãe is a property with a lot of heritage, the gardens are bordered by the 16th century antique walls, it is located in the historic part of Lagos, 5 minutes from the main beaches. We are now launching our soft opening and at the moment, we have opened our largest building, Jogo da Bola with its 22 rooms, its ORTA restaurant with its wide terrace and the concept store. There, you can expect contemporary, minimalist but playful design with much of local context, large balconies in all the rooms, with hammocks and the traditional Portuguese reixas, those traditional wooden grid panels that create a special atmosphere with just enough protection and transparency. About our restaurant, it is very much based on the farm-to-table concept, everything is homemade/ home baked/ homegrown, from the bread to the veggies! It offers a mix of casual fine dining/ gourmet and seasonal menu with healthy, raw food and gourmet breakfast options cooked in an open kitchen, using the produce of our inland farm cultivated according to organic and permaculture principles. Restaurant, farm, terraced garden and also a large concept store! In the new building Jogo da Bola, we have 120sqm dedicated to Portuguese design that is also promoting the work of our 24 collaborations with Portuguese designers and artisans that are showcased in our Casa Mãe magazine launched last May in Lisbon. At Casa Mãe we aim to be a space open to the community, we are expanding our property and soon (January) we will have more than 7000sqm with three different spaces and atmospheres. Besides our Jogo da Bola building we will have more two buildings, the carefully renovated master house from the 19th century with 5 unique rooms, the 3 rustic outdoor Cabanas in the aromatic garden.

My husband and I didn’t like this hotel at all. Here are our complaints: 1. Driving to the hotel is harrowing...and I’ve driven all over the world. 2. Using the hotel’s map to find the off-site parking is virtually impossible and you can’t use your GPS because there is no

Dear Guest, Thank you for your booking and for taking the time to comment on your recent stay. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not live up to the expectations and that you were not pleased in our space. On the layout and decor of our rooms, it is true that most of our rooms have been imagined to be romantic rooms, with the bathtub and the showers inside the room, which turns out to be almost an identifying image of our hotel. We try to make our photos as transparent as possible, so in all room types you can find at least one photo of the bathtub and the shower, that may help to understand how is the room trying to avoid any disappointment. We regret for not being aware of your displeasure during your stay, as the rooms in the other buildings, Casa Mãe building and our Cabanas have different design where the bath areas have more privacy, and especially at this time of year we would easily have moved you to a room more to your liking. Regarding our restaurant, we understand that the farm to table concept, with much of the ingredients we use to be produced in our farm may not satisfy everyone, however and even taking in consideration most of the comments, we believe it please most of our guests. About the location of the hotel, we were located next to the city walls, already in the downtown, which has the disadvantage of most the streets are narrow and almost all of them with only one way. On the other hand, it allows us to be just a few minutes walk from the main central square and from most of the main points of interest in Lagos, such as the Marina, the markets and several beautiful beaches. Hoping that this information can be read and be useful to future guests, we take this opportunity to inform that knowing that it is not easy to drive in the streets of the historic center of Lagos, we always use the booking confirmation to alert and recommend to all the guests to go for parking next to our property. We send a map with the directions to our property, also with the coordinates that you should put in your GPS and with the name of the nearest streets. Please note that it is not necessary to bring your luggage from the park to the reception, we have a team that will bring all your belongings to your room. If for some reason the indications are not as clear as we wish, do not hesitate to contact us, we will be always happy to assist you. Lastly, once again we regret that your experience was not the best, however we appreciate your suggestions and we will certainly work hard to be even better. Kind regards, Rodrigo

I would have thought a room almost totally decorated with white would have felt very clinical but it was absolutely beautiful. The huge bath in within the bedroom, massive bed and large shower was all very luxurious. The balcony was very private and had the sun from first thing

Anyone staying at Casa Mae should be aware of certain facts: --the parking is not near the hotel but outside the city walls and not within luggage toting distance --the breakfast included in the room price is not a buffet like all the other hotels offer in Portugal, but a

Dear Mrs. Koot, Firstly we thank you for your booking with us and also for your feedback, which we hope can be also helpful for other future guests. We truly regret to hear that we not managed to meet your expectations, since we always strive to make sure that our guests have a good time with us, unfortunately we understand that was not your case. Regarding the mentioned points, we understand that accidents can happen to any person, however the described procedures are common in hotels, precisely to prevent these type of incidents. We only regret that this had such a great weight in your experience. Part of our concept is to promote Portuguese crafts, which help in the decoration of our entire space and fortunately we are proud to have several unique pieces produced exclusively for the hotel. The mentioned broken vase is one of these cases, and we had the opportunity to explain that the amount charged corresponds only to the cost value, and the sale value in our store is quite different. We also take this opportunity to clarify that the park you mentioned is less than a minute's walk from one of the entrances of our property. Before any arrival, and yours were not exception, we are careful to alert by email that the streets in the historic center of Lagos are narrow and that's why we recommend to go directly to the parking lot so that any guest can avoid a bad experience. In this email, we placed the coordinates of the park and as well as an explanatory map with directions from the park to our reception. Of course if the directions are not as clear as we wish, at any time any guest can give us a call and we would be pleased to try to assist them. Although we do not have valet parking service, we have employees who will be happy to bring any suitcases up to the room, as it also happened in your case happened. Even though we do not have the mentioned service, as you will remember, for your comfort we were happy to bring your car to the reception. Lastly, we're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our breakfast. We indeed try to present something different, completely served a la Carte breakfast and every day we strive to select fresh produce of the highest quality and for that reason we try to keep a short menu, however we appreciate your suggestions and we will work to present a even better breakfast.  Kind regards, Rodrigo

The Casa Mae is such a beautiful hotel, in all the details as in the architecture. The staff were amaizing and authentic. We had a great family time here and you will too. Recommended. The beaches of Lagos are beautiful and the city still authentic.

It is indeed our goal to give our best to ensure that our guests have a great time with us and if by giving our tips we can share a bit more about the Portuguese culture is even better. =) It makes us also really proud to hear that you will keep good memories about your room, our restaurant and mostly about the kindness of our staff. Thank you once again and we hope to soon have the pleasure to welcome you again. Best regards, Rodrigo

Hello Tary, thank you for you question. We are glad to inform that the main diference between these two typologies are the comfort and the space. The Deluxe rooms are bigger, also with a bigger terrace and can be facing the street or the property. The Superior rooms have a similar design, but are smaller and are all facing our esplanade and vegetable garden. We hope this information can be helpful and we can have the pleasure to welcome you soon.

Dear Miss R J, Thank you for your contact and interest. We would like to inform that by option we do not have coffee machine in the rooms. We have a great hand craft coffee available in our bar, that unfortunately is not possible to have with the same quality in the room, but our staff would be glad to take it to your room at any moment that you want if we have the pleasure to welcome you in our place. =)
