Colina Village is set on the outskirts of Carvoeiro approximately 1½ miles from the centre of town. Although there is a tired feel to the apartments they are spacious and clean with a well equipped kitchen for those who want to self-cater. All the staff are friendly; reception, cleaning, waiting and maintenance and the village is beautifully presented with brightly coloured buildings, wonderful gardens with plenty of established trees and shrubs, The swimming pool is an very good size and in pristine condition. There is a well-stocked pool bar as well as a poolside restaurant which is open from breakfast until late evening.

For those with mobility issues or young children the location may prove difficult, however it is only a 30 minute walk into the centre of town with plenty of bars and restaurants closer to 20 minutes away on Estrada do Farol (coast road) as well as some on Rua do Barranco (the out road) which is around a 25 minutes walk. There are numerous taxis in town and reception will call one for you if you prefer not to walk.

A couple of minor observations were that the hot water is exceedingly hot, so there is danger of scalding if you're not careful. Perhaps a warning notice would help. We opted not to have our towels changed daily but this meant that we had to ask two or three times before having them changed at all.

During the course of the two weeks we ate at the restaurant on several occasions, breakfast once, lunch three times and two wonderful evening meals. The meals are freshly prepared and delicious and the food and drink are very reasonably priced.

Given that we had a wonderful two weeks for under £450pp including flights I'd say that this was excellent value for money.

Just got back from a week here. We used it as a base for cycling which was ideal as the location was perfect to explore the area. There is an Intermarche 0.9 miles away.

We had a 2 bed villa which was very spacious. Loved the separate lounge area and kitchen and of course a spare room. Yes it is dated and 1 of the beds was really noisy but was adequate for our needs.

Villa

Our villa faced the main road, which although seems small it was incredibly busy and we were disturbed every night, throughout the night by noisy traffic. There is a very small balcony area which didnt get the sun but the views were quite nice and you could see the sunrise.

Food

We were really disappointed, having stayed half board in many hotels of varying star ratings, this was by far the worst. Breakfast was childrens cereals (3 of), cold bacon, cold scrambled egg, toast, yoghurt, very watered down juices. Nice fruit salad, selection of cold meats and a cheese. It never changed. The evening meal was from a menu, hit and miss, most of the meat choices were tasteless and dry, the fish and lasagne were nice. I prefer a buffet style by choice. The waiting staff worked hard and were polite.

Pool

Outside pool was fantastic, plenty of sunbeds, large pool that didnt make your eyes sting or smell of chlorine. We didnt use the indoor pool.

Wifi

What wifi, there was none available in the villa and even when you went to the pool area or reception it was hit and miss. We needed it to upload our routes for the next day and it became an issue on occasion.

There was no atmosphere at the hotel and I appreciate we came at the end of the season. I dont think we would stay here again sadly.

Just spent 8 days here as a family of four (15 and 12) and it was absolutely beautiful! We had a top floor one bedroomed apartment with a balcony. Apartment was surprisingly spacious, two tables, double sink in the bathroom and a well equipped kitchen with lots of kitchen utensils and an oven. Both rooms had air conditioning, unfortunately the one in the bedroom was the only one that worked. The kids slept fine, we sweated to death on a sofa bed in the lounge. Spent 2 nights on their floor due to the coolness of their room, but after a while, we got used to the heat, even with the patio door open. Pool was immaculate, best we have ever had on a holiday. Made use of this several times a day due to the heat. Poolside bar was also nice, although not cheap at 4 euros a pint. On site restraunt again very nice, with a nice selection of food cooked to order. We ate here 4 nights of our holiday. The complex is very secluded though, but we didn't mind this as it was so relaxing and peacful. The supermarket is a good 15 minute walk away. The rep told us it was a taxi ride, but the walk is doable. Single file and no proper footpath due to it being on a main road, but walkable all the same. We actually enjoyed our daily walks here for fresh bread and anything else, as it was actually an amazing supermarket with lots of variety. We ate on our balcony twice due to all the food we had bought, plus making use of the oven, was just perfect. Carvoeiro centre is about €6/7 in a taxi, not walkable at all. We only ate there once,as we thought the food was expensive. However, we enjoyed going there of an evening after we had eaten, to get drinks and gelato and enjoyed the buzz of the town centre. (€4.70 a pint in the town). On our last day we had to be out of the apartment for 11am. This was fine as we were used to being up and out early around the pool. Our cases were left in reception and we made use of the indoor pool showers later on to get ready for our flight home. We enjoyed our time here and we would definitely go back.

Chose to travel to Colina Village because we wanted an apartment with 2 bedrooms. Having flown in, we did not intend to self cater and were on half board.

Arriving on 27th March, the place was very quiet with few of the accommodations actually occupied. Having been to the Algarve in March before, we knew to bring warm clothing for mornings and evenings and this knowledge proved very useful on this trip too.
We were usually on our own in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner. However, although the food chosen from the half board menu, was only typical holiday hotel fare, the service and attention from the staff at both meals, was fantastic. Very few options for any vegetarian and very few vegetables for the rest of us.
The apartment was basic and clean with a well equipped kitchen but with only one electrical socket which had to be shared by both kettle and microwave. All the cups were small coffee cups and there was no washing up kit supplied.

The bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds and both heating and A/C. Good hot water but a very basic shower over the bath. Hairdryer borrowed from reception.
We were in number 11 which had a great west facing terrace for afternoon sunbathing. Away from the main road it was quiet apart from the morning cockerel and some dog barking.

The minibus into town and the indoor pool were both not operating during our stay. The WIFI only worked in the immediate area, inside and outside, around the reception office.

We were aware of the walk down into the town which took us about 30 minutes but which was tricky in parts because of no pavement and drainage channels on the edge of the roadway. Once you reach the part nearer town, there are pavements although not always flat and even.
Of course the return is uphill although a taxi ( or Uber) can be picked up in the town.
We quite enjoyed our week at Colina, the weather was favourable and there was just about enough to do to fill our time.

Firstly I would like to say the staff were very friendly throughout our 2 day stay at collina village, could not fault them at all.
Which was very helpful after an early flight etc.
Food was basic we only had the breakfast which wasn't alot of choice, scrambled egg, bacon ,toast and cereals, yogurts were very watery and not much flavour, but it filled a hole for us to go and explore.

The board walk was a beautiful walk with my partner as we enjoy walking so really enjoyed this part of the holiday, the views were outstanding, we couldn't enter any caves as they were all shut off with gates across ,I think it was due to the weather being windy.
The carveneiro village was about 5 minutes in taxi from our apartment which was great, we used a bolt like uber which was incredibly useful for us as we like to explore new places .
The apartment... well it was spacious, very basic, the beds were hard , no hot water in the apartment ,we had one bath a day between us as the water went cold after one shower or bath, and did not heat up till the next day.
The kitchen had everything really you needed, but I would never stay here again especially with children, we had bed bugs in our bed and contained bites all over our faces.
The reception man said we would have a maid clean our room with fresh towels and toilet roll each day ,we did not receive that.
Very cheap ,dated apartment it was OK for a place to stay whilst exploring as a couple but would never take the children.
The food on carveneiro was outstanding especially the casa algarvia, and the tapas restaurant opposite Levels, another great bar to attend was mungos in carveneiro, fantastic couple who run this bar, who made our stay in carveneiro the best .

We had a lovely holiday at Colina village first 2 weeks of October. Our first floor one bedroom apartment was more than adequate large bedroom lounge and very well equipped kitchen nice bathroom and balcony all a little dated but very clean and comfortable.
We knew it was a 25 to 30min walk into Carvoeiro the first 10 with no pavement but found it OK facing the on coming traffic we usually got a local taxi or uber back once it was dark costing between 4 and 6/12 euro. Carvoeiro is lovely but quite hilly so not so well suited if you have walking difficulties.
The large well stocked supermarket is a 15 walk in the opposite direction again not all with pavement we got a very large shop the customer service desk ordered us a taxi about 5 euro.
The restaurant in Colina village is very good, meals as good as the restaurants in the town for quality and price.
Beautiful large pool with plenty sunbeds.
The receptionist (Pedro i think) was very helpful giving tips for getting about as we found the local bus service disappointing.
The road train to Ferragudo was really good and worthwhile.

Just returned from Colina village
On arrival was met at reception by 2 polite members of staff, gave us a map and lots of info regarding shops ect.
The apartment was very clean 51A a 2 bedroom which was spacious with a small balcony to sit out on. Unfortunately we were next to the road , the walls are wafer thin so you can literally hear every thing from neighbours from snoring to using the loo , Although furniture was dated it was comfortable enough. Kitchen looked fairly new with plenty of utensils if needed microwave a oven large fridge only downside was only 1 socket so had to swap plugs every time.
Shower was adequate run from taps over a large bath .water was hot just enough for the 3 off us before it ran cold. Beds are very firm good for me but wife and daughter found them too hard. Good air condition. Apartment was cleaned to very good standard with fresh bedding and towels every day except Sundays
Lovely outdoor pool over 2m deep down to 1m at shallow end. Nice children’s pool also a indoor pool which we didn’t use .
Good bar and restaurant serving snacks ect . The restaurant food was excellent and well priced would recommend the tuna . Staff were excellent and nothing was to much trouble. Had breakfast once but bit disappointed with the selection.
The hotel is a good 20min walk down to the town and 35min back up the hill fine if cool but not pleasant in the heat . We walked down and if feeling lazy got a Uber back up €4 . Unfortunately the courtesy bus is no longer running which is a shame. A large local supermarket is 10mins walk (busy rd in places no foot path) so nice to get fresh bread and milk ect .
Would I stay again probably not mainly due to the courtesy bus not running and the noise issue. But don’t let this put you off the staff are brilliant as is the complex buy some earplugs and budget for taxi if you don’t want to walk up the hill

We visited for 5 nights the last full week in August 2024. We stayed in a 2 bed self catering apartment (2 adults and 3 children). The apartment was beautifully clean (the oven, fridge and kitchen absolutely spotless!) the accommodation is as others have said a little run down and in need of refurbishment; the bathroom although very clean had a blown door and strange scars on the bath, the drains in the bathroom also smelled awful after showering but this problem is not uncommon in my experience of holidaying abroad and not exclusive to Portugal! The bins were emptied daily and the apartment, bedding and towels changed every 2 days. Loo roll is provided (don’t forget not to put this in the loos in Portugal), but take a sponge and dish soap if you’re self catering as this is not provided! There is air conditioning in the bedrooms and lounge, and we took our own pillows which was a great idea if your baggage allowance allows you to fit them!

The resort is off the beaten track but this means it’s quiet which was welcome! We attended the pools each day and never had an issue getting a sunbed regardless of the time of day as families tended to come and go.

The pools are not as large as the photographs suggest, but they are a decent size, and never overcrowded. They are treated overnight, but their filter system/cleaning is not particularly efficient and there was lots of hair unfortunately. Also to be mindful there are quite a few mini pool tiles missing which led to a couple of minor cuts and scrapes, also the entrance and path between the indoor and outdoor pool was extremely slippery so be careful!! This said, for the price we paid we were still very pleased with the facilities, the staff were all so pleasant and helpful.

The bar had a good choice of snacks, drinks and light lunch options, and we ate in the restaurant a few times - I would particularly recommend the pasta dishes, fish dishes and kebabs - real crowd pleasers! And despite a pretty captive audience we found the prices reasonable.

There is a shuttle bus a few times a day to the local beach (which is Shelly/ coarse sand). We managed to mix up the timings the first time and missed it but the reception were super kind and called the driver who made a special trip for us.

There is a lovely boat trip that we went on which included the transfers to and from the Colina village (I’ll also put up a review on here) but also highly recommend Manguitu’s.

The closest supermarket is down the hill about a 15 minute walk (for an adult alone) but we mistakenly took the kids the first time and it was terrifying- mainly no pavement and many blind bends, and easily took 30 minutes each way. Prices are a little expensive but there’s a great selection to chose from.

All in all a wonderful holiday, great value!

In short - you get what you pay for. Single bed are slightly uncomfortable and the sofa bed isn’t suitable for adults. Apart from that it was good.

As a full review - We travelled as a self catering family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 boys 7/9 ) at the beginning of August. Our flight was delayed also we only arrived at 2am so as you’d expect nothing was open The night guard didn’t speak English but we got our keys and went to appt 25. We were met with 2 small single beds and what I can only describe as an old, small sofa bed which uses the back and seat cushions as a mattress. My wife and I would not both get on the sofa bed comfortably so she stayed with the youngest and I took a single with our other lad. The pillows as people have said are thin and useless.

The bathroom and kitchen were all good and clean apart from ants on the sink and in the main hall.

On the 1st morning I asked about the beds and was told by reception that it met the ‘minimum standards’ and to get another bed would be €40 per night. They then discounted this to €20 per night, but I refused. You have to book a double room appt for a would bed too.
We spoke to the Jet2 guide at the resort that day and he was able to secure a free single bed for us, this turned out to be a small camp bed!

The rooms were cleaned most days and towels changed, loo roll added etc.
The Intermarché is only a mile away and is an easy walk, an uber back is between €3-4 - there’s no food store on site but the restaurant seems pretty decent. If you need sun cream it’s €20 for factor 50 at the resort, or €12.50 in the Intermarché. Grab a sponge and kitchen roll for the kitchen.

The bar guy during the day is really friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced for a holiday. €4 a pint, €6 for a mixed fruits cider.

The main pool isn’t as big as it looks in the pics, it’s about 25m in length ( the same as a uk baths ) but is big enough for those staying here. The kids pool is just a paddling pool. There are also plenty of beds and there’s no requirement to throw a towel down before 9am.

There’s some light entertainment through the day for kids. But not much. The odd face painting, water polo and bingo.

There is a shuttle down to the beach and back a few times a day, early morning is packed so we went 2-5pm

Smilers bar in Carvoeiro has sky channels and friendly staff who will put a game on for you if you enquire. *** They only take cash****

So. Long and short like I said. Couple of days left here. A decent cheap self catering holiday which would have been better if the beds were sorted and updated.

Enjoy

We went to this hotel early October 2024.
We arrived around 11pm, the reception was 24 hours, and a very nice young lady - Tatiana, was waiting for us, very polite and very friendly. She booked us in very quickly and gave us directions to our room.
The room was very large, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and a very spacious living room. There was also a tv with many english channels with 24 hour movies.
In the morning we had a wander around the complex, 2 large pools including 1 indoor pool (not heated), a restaurant and a bar. Very quiet, but very relaxing.
There is a shuttle bus (free) if you want to go to the beach and will pick you up in the afternoon (also free), or you can walk - around 30-40 minutes.
There is a very large supermarket about 15 minutes walk away or about 7 euros in a taxi.
The weather was hit and miss, but if it was raining in the morning, it usually cleared before lunch and was a very nice 25 degrees plus in the afternoon, a couple of days it rained all day, but it was still warm enough to sit under an umbrella by the pool and read.
This was a fantastic break. ALL the staff are very friendly, the rooms are cleaned almost every day, reception are very very knowledgeable about the whole area and will do anything to make sure you enjoy your time there.
It was our 1st visit to this hotel, but cannot wait to go back next year. Thank you so much for a great time, see you next October.
