Like everyone else, I was worried but after coming here our experience has been so safe and incredible. We live in the UK so let’s look at the facts first. Portugal’s death rate per population is one quarter of the UK total. Of all the cases and deaths in Portugal, this region is only responsible for about 2% of the total, the far greater problems are in the other Northern regions.
Algar Seco Parque is kept scrupulously clean, with all of the staff going out of their way to make sure everyone is safe. Right now, there are not that many people here and even when it is full you can still keep your distance from everyone. The pool is so safe and checked twice daily and it is not a place where the virus can live. Every shop, restaurant or hotel worker in Portugal adheres to the standard of wearing a mask without any exception. You have to wear a mask on entering a restaurant but you can take it off when you sit down. And everyone does this calmly and politely without any stress. If you want to free your mind of the trauma we have all been through, come to Carvoeiro. Don’t read or listen to the news, enjoy the beautiful peace you can have here with the wonderful people of Portugal…give your mind a rest and also help these people survive economically.

Our family of four stayed for the second time in Algar Seco in July 2021. We come to Carvoeiro every year and always dine here at least once during each visit. We stayed in a two bedroom bungalow this time, previously we had stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was excellent and very well equipped. The bungalow was more spacious, spotlessly clean, with a very well equipped kitchen and a huge terrace with two sunloungers and a table for outside dining. The bungalow was only a short distance away from the pool but we were not disturbed by any pool noise as we were on a higher level. The bistro and bar serve a nice variety of food, drinks and snacks and the staff are lovely. Algar Seco occupies one of the best locations in Carvoeiro, on a cliff overlooking the sea with a beautiful pool. You can access the boardwalk outside the resort and stroll to the village in 10 minutes. There are lots of restaurants with in-dining and take-away options at the back of the resort as well as a small grocery store. All Covid-19 regulations were followed and we felt very safe here. Would highly recommend Algar Seco!

We had a package deal booked based out of Switzerland and were delighted to see that the location is better even than any pictures or advertising. As it is off season right now the quaint loco is even more beautiful and just walking out through the garden door and have the boardwalk for sunset ahead - in case you are not lazy and simply stay on the veranda…
The bungalow we got is spotless and we fell in love - we will come back with old parents next year for sure.
And the whole crew is awesome. Multi lingual and always a smile. From check-in to gardeners to cleaning crew… just nice people and you feel welcome. For a very frequent business Traveller like me this was a major change (nice one).

We have stayed at Algar Seco a number of times and had wonderful holidays, the accommodation is lovely, spacious, clean, comfortable (lumpy and hard pillows apart) and in a beautiful setting. This year however we discovered that the Bistro had been franchised, so has in effect become a public restaurant (bar?). We ate there first night when they were empty but discovered that lunchtimes are completely blocked, mostly it seems by a steady stream of non resident visitors who occupy the tables for the entire afternoon, often in large groups. Every time we enquired we were told "fully booked" At all times there is a 'reserved" sign on every single table, it would appear to allow staff can welcome their regulars (not Algar Seco paying guests like us) . We spoke to reception but next morning (at 10.00 when the pool area was still unoccupied) the message was the same, except of a comment "yes we know you complained, maybe an hour max from 1-2 is OK". A secondary point, my wife found it particularly uncomfortable entering the pool or using the pool shower 2 metres from a group of 8-9 mostly males dressed in outside clothes (not holiday attire). The pool at Algar Seco is a wonderful facility but it is not for us anymore, we prefer to go somewhere more private and somewhere where we are welcomed as paying guests. The walk to buy lunch at the supermarket to get lunch at a welcoming restaurant is 10 minutes!!!!

The Bistro is indeed very popular with all visitors, but I agree that this should not be taking anything away from guests staying with us. After we spoke at the reception I had a meeting with the manager from the Bistro, and we agreed that a number of tables would be set aside exclusively for guests staying with us. We thought this would be sufficient, but many of our guests also enjoy “their” table at the Bistro and make reservations for the duration of their holiday. It’s clear now that the situation was not resolved to your satisfaction, which I very much regret. I have forwarded your comments to the Bistro and will follow up with the manager. Me and my partner stayed at Algar Seco Parque for a week and we had the best time here. The resort is close to Praia De Carvoeiro and Praia de Vale Covo and very close to the city center, restaurants and grocery stores. The resort looks very beautiful, lots of palms trees and flowers and beautiful architecture. From the moment we came in we were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff who took us to our bungalow which was about 5 min walk from the reception. The room was spotless clean and very nicely furnished in the Portuguese style. It was also very private and quiet. The terrace was stunning, with great sea views, trees and a small garden with flowers that smelled beautiful at night. We had sunbeds, chairs, table and an umbrella on the terrace which was also very big. In the kitchen we had everything we needed, great appliances that looked like new, lots of cutlery and storage space. In the bathroom we had soap and shampoo that was refilled everytime the cleaning lady came which was everyday except Thursday and Sunday. We had two free drinks at the bistro as a welcome gift, a very nice shopping bag, a map with things to do nearby and restaurants and when we left we received a cute little pouch with Portuguese sea salt. The pool and bistro were also amazing with a panoramic view of the sea. You had plenty of space to swim in the pool and there was also a diving board. We were given clean towels from the bistro everyday and there were plenty of sunbeds to use. The food and service at the bistro was excellent. We never met such friendly staff before, they really made our stay much better and the food was delicious, big portions and not expensive. This resort made our holiday amazing and we will recommend to everyone who wants some peace and quiet, amazing food, amazing views and amazing people.

Every once in a while you book an accommodation that exceeds your expections. And that is Algar Seco for me. The accommodation is exactly as beautiful as shown on the photo’s. We were happy to find friendly and helpfull staff, a very clean and well equipped apartment at a wonderful location near the cost and on walking distance of restaurants. A fire place in the room but also airco, top mattresses on request, a shower with great water pressure (lacking in many places), mosquito screens in every window (and not teared apart as I have seen so many times) comfortable furniture on the balcony, brand new pots and pans in the kitchen, free towels at the pool and, as cherry on the pie, daily cleaning service including dish washing. We have had a splendid time and are already planning the next stay.

We had a 9 day break here at the beginning of September and will definitely be returning. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which had loads of space, was spotlessly clean and had a terrace with an amazing sea view. The pool and bar area was lovely and again really clean. Extra cleaning precautions were in place due to COVID which made us feel completely safe during our stay. The view from this complex is absolutely amazing and it is worth staying here just for that but the staff also add to the perfect holiday. They were all so friendly, from the reception staff to the maintenance guys and cleaners. I particularly want to mention Zara and Caesar in the restaurant though as they were so lovely and made us feel really welcome. Hope to see you again next year.

My family (2 kids 12 and 10) have just returned from the most wonderful holiday at Algar Seco Parque. Location is beautiful, Carvoeiro, with lovely restaurants and gorgeous beaches beach, is a short walk away and the parque is spotless. We felt very welcomed by the staff, who are extremely attentive and friendly. As we were here during Easter, the team left a card, chocolate bunnies and a lovely loaf of sweet bread and on leaving we were given a little bag of sea salt as a memento. Apartment was regularly cleaned to a very high standard, fire made up beautifully and fresh flowers left on tables every couple of days. The pool is great fun, we enjoyed braving the larger pool with its cool temperature, then getting into the warm pool!
This was our first trip abroad as a family for several years and we couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. We can’t fault Algar Seco Parque in any way and hope to return in the future.

This was our first visit to Carvoeiro after spending a few winters in Alberfeira. We needed a change of scenery and away from the crowds. This hotel and small town was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is beautifully positioned above the cliffs with amazing views. We were upgraded to a very large two bedroom unit with two bathrooms, a large living area and a fully stocked kitchen. The unit was spotlessly clean and was maintained that way for our four week stay. The staff were always willing to advise or suggest places and things to do, a pleasure to talk to. We left just as the Corona Virus was taking over Europe and the town was starting to shut down. We wish all of the staff good wishes to stay safe and if possible we will hopefully be able to book again for next year. Highly recommended

This was the second time we have been to this great holiday complex at the end of December, with a great location right by the sea. The cliffs and the wooden jetty are in the immediate vicinity. The apartments and suites are very tastefully decorated in Portuguese style and are very comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and is very spacious. The living room and bedroom are also very spacious, the bathroom had 2 sinks, a large barrier-free shower and a bidet. We had a T1 suite, Catrineta 2, very beautifully situated with a sea view. There are also enough parking spaces. The suite had a very nice terrace with 2 loungers and a large enough table with 4 chairs, where you could enjoy your meal with a great sea view. The entire complex is decorated with beautiful Mediterranean plants. Very nice paths lead through the complex to the apartments. The entire staff is very nice and helpful. All requests are taken into account and fulfilled as far as possible. The reception staff speak German, so the complex is also ideal for older guests. We will definitely come back. We can recommend the facility without reservation. That's why we give it 5 stars.
