We have been coming to the accommodation for many years and I was worried after reading negative reviews about the changes following a change in ownership. Thank goodness they were wrong, this place is better than it has been, the bar and apartments have been revamped. The staff were helpful, and yes housekeeping is now only once a week but so what! The supermarket is 0.2 miles away which is a ten minute walk and has everything you need for your stay. The bars and restaurants nearby are good and another half an hour walk to Olhos de Agua centre with many more bars and restaurants. The Wifi was amazing and never failed. All in all another fantastic stay, thank you Vale de Corros.

The first night we arrived our apartment had a foul rotten smell and no kettle so we asked to be moved. The guy on nights at reception had very poor English and doesn't make you welcome or want to help. Reluctanty he moved us to an apartment about half a mile down the road. The access to the apartment was dangerous and at night you could easily fall or trip and cause a serious injury. The gardens and slabs are very hazardous with metal water sprinkles sticking out of the ground. Be careful with the dangers here. They told us they don't supply toilet roll. Our apartment was never cleaned throughout the stay. No clean towels/bedsheets, no kettle and no toilet roll. The floor in the apartment was ant infested. The television was rubbish. Fridge made very funny noises and the WiFi was punishment to use. Check out was 10am even though our flight wasn't until 5pm. They asked us for 20 euros for late check out. The receptionists are very very unhelpful, Rude and the young female behind reception found it funny. The pool areas are abysmal. Freezing cold pool water with cracked slabs I hurt my toe on. I believe this place has been taken over by new owners who are clearly incompetent. You want feel welcome or respected at this apartment location. I love Portugal but I won't be staying at vale de carros apartments again. Spend a little extra and avoid this place.

Very nice and silent hotel with swiming pool. Good for all kind of sport activities. Nice rural, natural place, good acess to all places around. Better choose second floor rooms with balcony. Good for personal training camps, sport teams living. No dislikes, liked everything.

I had the misfortune of staying here a week. I booked it very last minute online. The grounds and surrounding area is very nice. Unfortunately there are no facilities. Low season meant that not many tourists would be here. This suited me fine. The neighbourhood is home to several dogs. These dogs are abandoned at times, left on balconies. They bark constantly and the neglectful owners don’t seem to care. The apartment itself is very basic. Firm mattress with not adequate bedding. The air con doubles up as a heater. I had it set on maximum throughout the night. No facilities or even a bar at the hotel. The tiny tv only has local stations. The nearest grocery shop is over ten minutes away. Receptionist couldn’t even tell me local bus times, told me to Google it!! A two ring hob is what you have to cook with and there wasn’t even salt, pepper or sugar provided. The wi fi was intermittent and the bathroom very cramped. Hindsight would tell me to spend a little more and stay nearer the town centre. On my day of checking out at 10:00, there was nowhere to store my luggage. My flight was 20:10 that evening. So I left my luggage in the apartment as reception was closed for two days. I received a phone call instructing me to move it in order for the apartment to be cleaned. Yet I was offered nowhere to store it! The woman was unaccommodating and very unprofessional. I therefore cannot recommend this property.

We have visited these apartments many times over 11 years .we have had many a good family holiday here .sadly this holiday was different our first night was dreadful we were in a studio apartment (at my request) but the smell was so bad I could not bare to be in the room any longer we tried to be polite by saying the stairs would be too much for me we changed our studio to an apartment costing another 50 euros taking our room price to £350 roughly... Once we settled in our new room we went back to the reception to ask about bar opening times etc we were told the bar is now closed until March next year ..there was none of the usual facilities to buy water milk etc all that's gone now .we had no option but to go to the shops which us about 10 min walk we bought some provisions we needed but was quite cross that we had had to leave the complex to do so... We were basically left with an apartment no facilities. The apartments stand in the most beautiful well kept gardens or at least they were now they look untidy and unkept we watched the previous family who ran this business for years take great pride in the gardens and pool areas ..to see all that hard work go to waste is quite sad... The weather was lovely so we decided to sit by the pool which was dirty and unkept lots of dead flies etc in it and scum round the sides although I must add around day 6 someone did turn up to clean the pool . The housekeeping was slow we had towels changed day 5 (used to be every day ) The beds on day 8 . On our last evening I asked what time we should leave the room a rather rude gentleman behind reception said no later than 10 I asked if I could bring our cases in to reception but he suggested we pay to keep the room on has we had to go ohlos de auga for breakfast I did not really want to pay the money they were asking to keep the room I don't know if I misunderstood but I think he was asking 20 euros an hour .. The morning we left my husband decide to talk to some one else in reception Diane a very polite young lady who had no problem with us putting the bags in reception however at her suggestion we were allowed to keep the room until 11 whilst we went for breakfast at no extra charge which we genuinely appreciated.. It's sad when you see such a lovely family run business taken over and everything changes we told Diane about our disappointment and she gave us a card for another group of hotels they owned and suggested if we booked with them at Christmas (as we are usually there at Christmas)we would get at 10% discount ... I must add we had to buy cleaning products for the apartment especially ant powder and candles and room freshners we sprayed around as much as possible but the smell was bad we knew the smell was from the bathroom but nothing would clear it. The vale de carros is open all year now but don't expect anything to be open the bar entertainment etc are closed until mid March. If you do go make sure you take provisions to see you through your first night water etc .we had to go 10 hours unable to have a drink where as before the reception sold everything we needed . It is sad to see this place now it's lost its sparkle . We will never go again .we do visit Portugal regularly and in the winter months stay in different hotels has vale de carros usually closes last week in October however the new owners decided to stay open .my suggest would be either close for the 6 months or put your facilties back on .

Stayed here many times over the last 18 years, family holiday, away with friends, golf stays or on our own, it’s cheap and cheerful but always been a pleasant place to be from reception to bar, a bit of entertainment at busier times of the year, friendly staff decent bar and snacks, I know lockdown has has taken it’s toll and they have struggled, seems they’ve been forced to sell on, the new owners run it terribly, charge to book in early, although rooms are available, charge to book out late even if no one is expected to take the room, if you want to check in after 19.00 they want €20.00, bar shuts early 19.00 or in our case isn’t even open, yet reception reckons it’s 70% full, really, would have recommended last year, now Don’t Go Near It, if you’ve been before but not since July forget it, I wouldn’t have stayed if I knew what it was going to be like but Booking.com and Vale de carros don’t tell you what is or isn’t available other than wi fi. ☹️☹️

Myself & my hubby visited these apartments recently what I can only describe as very poor, we were greeted by reception upon arrival only to be pointed to a map saying theres your room, which was half a mile down the road upon entering the building we were greeted with steep spiral stairs which we had to manage getting 2 suitcases up not ideal, the room was a basic studio with tv (all in Portuguese microwave kettle toaster & fridge which just happened to make very loud noises during the night, the bathroom was large with a decent shower. Due to covid we were unable to lay on sun loungers by the pool even tho there were only about 10 guests staying there so had to dirty sun lounges on our balcony aswell as a manly brown table & chairs which seemed to be covered in bird droppings . Maid service was 10.30 every morning so no chance of a lie in , not ideal , our sheets were never changed in the time we stayed 19 days . There were no pubs or restaurants nearby so we had to walk to the next village for entertainment, all in all a terrible stay
