Yes the apartments are outdated but there clean and have everything you need.
Maid service was great bedding changed and towels twice in a 5 night stay .
Pool area was clean and there’s no sun bed hogging .
Food was well priced and it was good.
Late check out was no issue and at only €25 it’s worth paying for especially with late flights.
Only complaint no bottles of white wine only red ☹️ so might be worth making Aldi before 9pm if you fancy a late night drink on the balcony. Oh and squeaky beds 😅 and don’t expect a huge TV with loads to watch
But if that bothers you maybe you shouldn’t be on holiday
Short journey from airport
Very large rooms (we had a 2 bed) room 517
Greeted by smiles by lovely gentleman on reception
Pool food was reasonable and yummy (try the club sandwich 🥪)
Extra pillows were in the wardrobe in living room
Beds were hard but that's my preference anyway...I slept great
Maid we met was a lovely lady full of smiles and so sweet, stayed 4 nights and rooms, linens, towels, changed twice. If you want more....simply ask with a smile
Kitchen fully stocked (we found Delph and a few more bits in the cupboard under the tv)
Cons:
Pool was like an ice bath, too cold to really enjoy
Hotel a distance away from everything but in fairness taxis are cheap enough
Woken 2 mornings before 7.30 by drilling overhead so obvious renovations, bit annoying.
Tips:
If you want chaos and noise, the strip is for you. The old town is my choice but it's gotten more loud over the years which is a bit sad. We ventured past the bank and up to the right, quiter and a lot cheaper on the pocket for drinks, food and knick knacks.
Would I go back to this hotel? Yes...if I got a good deal! Its clean, away from the madness and staff are genuinely lovely. Thanks for an amazing holiday.
The Silchoro apartments urgently needs drastic updating & is advertised as a 3 star but in my opinion would be extremely lucky to achieve a 1 star status & I am extremely surprised that this location is included in Jet 2 package tours.
There was no wifi or air conditioning in the bedrooms & the bathroom shower / appliances are basic & date back to the 1970-80s 7 do not appear to have any maintenance carried out. The lack of air condition in the bedrooms required the balcony doors to be kept open during the day / night & because of the location of the hotel close to a busy road there was lots of noise from the road traffic / rowdy people returning from clubs / bars throughout the night which caused considerable disruption to sleeping.
The reception area & bar/ restaurant were also basic with the staff generally disinterested with very limited wifi in the reception desk area which had to be continuously logged in each day . The only hotel facility acceptable was the outdoor pool although there were not enough loungers & many were broken & it cost extra for foam cushions. The food in the bar restaurant was not good & appeared to be low quality & the shop in the reception had limited stock & was very expensive.
In summary, needless to say, I will never return to the Silchoro Apartments & I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Albufeira
Positives:- room was spacious and clean, large fridge freezer which was a welcomed bonus. Balcony looked over the pool and had a sea view (in the distance) which was nice.
Luig (man in reception) was friendly and helpful. Jim a fellow Scot travels here for 6 weeks every year alone and seems to have taken up the role of public relations while staying, Jim helped with things like supermarkets, beach and all round directions.
Young man who worked in the bar area was also very nice and extremely friendly and could not do enough for us.
The apartments were quiet which was a bonus for us but sadly that leads me to the
Negatives which outweighed the good:
Location was a good walk away from the maim strip of the new town and approx 20/25 mins from the old town. I found the streets hilly and difficult to walk in.
The apartments were very dated indeed and our room consisted of a room with two single wooden beds which strangely looked on to the walkway. The bathroom was adequate but the shower was an over bath hose which wasn’t great. The kitchen area was ok but we didnt have a kettle.
The living area had another 2 wooden beds which had covers over them to pass as sofas and this is where we chose to sleep as we could leave balcony door open at night, no air con in rooms and I believe you can hire a fan.
Maid service was sparse and she only ever put clean towels in, beds weren’t touched and floor wasn’t swept.. this may be due to Covid but still cleanliness is important.
ANTS AND FLIES OMG they were very problematic
There is a bar and “restaurant “ - food was very average and drinks were available all day and night but the prices changed day to day and there was one girl who worked there refused to fill our glasses to the top and when we challenged her she wasn’t happy. She also was not pleasant and seemed to be troubled every time we asked for anything.
On the morning of check out my husband used the toilets in reception and discovered that the cubicle was a disgrace, poo all over toilet and a pair of boxer shorts also covered in poo lying on the floor, he had to use the ladies as it was so bad.
Sadly the negatives out way any good so we would t recommend staying here. I know the price was low and people say you get what you pay for but this is something else.
I had to ask at reception for clean towels 4 days in to our holiday. Bedding not changed once, I assume this is due to covid but was not informed of this, I would have been happy to have clean bedding left to make ourselves.
The mini supermarket was literally bare and we only used this to buy drinks from as they were bigger than the pool ones.
We were put in the smaller block at the back which was actually nice and quiet but not a very nice view.
The doors on the room had no resistance allowing for the door to slam shut although a minor issue during the day, at night the slamming was extremely disturbing as the room shacked with the impact. The walls were thin as my lips before any filler meaning loud youngster could be hear from a mile off again adding to the noise experienced.
The nail in the coffin was the hotel claiming my room had been left empty with no personal belongings being inside when I know for a fact my AirPods were left inside it. Clearly the cleaners were wanting a new set or to make a quick buck off of me. Definitely something to be considered when staying here as the staff were extremely unhelpful on the phone and via email mistaking what item was left in the room in the first place.
Overall, good for the price however, may as well spend the extra few pennies and stay somewhere half decent then a place that robs their customers. Think wisely my sons
BUT… that being said, our experience after that was fab! The rooms are dated but huge and well equipped. The pool area is lovely and clean, with plenty of sun loungers available. I would definitely come back here with a large group. It’s within walking distance to the strip and a short taxi/bus ride away from the old town (free shuttle also runs from the hotel everyday). There is also an Aldi just round the corner!
Don’t be put off by other reviews, for a cheap hotel that accept hens/stags this place is great.
I didn’t catch any names but the guy working the bar was great and always up for a laugh. And the lady with short hair on reception couldn’t have been more helpful whilst arranging an excursion for us.
This place is lovely, we arrived quite late last night and were greeted by two lovely receptionist who were very helpful in checking us in.
The apartments are massive with a lovely pool view on our balcony.
Me my husband and my two teenage boys were so hungry and the restaurant was closing soon. They still made us a tasty pizza, burgers and toasty which we all ate like we have never ate before.
We asked for a TV remote and they gave us one but we couldn't get it to work. The nice guy on the desk came up to our room and sorted it for us.
Yes beds a firm but we all slept really well with little to no noise.
We got some essentials from the mini mart at the hotel and all had a lovely breakfast in the apartment. We haven't ventured out yet but with a free shuttle to and from the beach and old town we are looking forward to our days here in albuferia.
The pool is really nice and the whole place is spotless. I've stayed in smaller places for a lot more money.
Highly recommended to anyone.
