The M’Ar De Ar hotel has decor like it’s ancient surroundings. The common areas have a contemporary vibe and there is a lounge and pool area in the back of the hotel. The rooms have tile floors to blend in with the outside grounds, and the bathrooms are completely marble/stone all over. The hotel is located down the street from the popular Giraldo Square, which features many places to eat, grab coffee or shop.
If you are looking for a spot to stay in Evora, the M’AR De Ar is a good place to stay.

The hotel is located in an interesting section of Evora, which was good for us as this was our 4th visit to the city and we love it. The staff at the hotel was very good. There were many tour groups staying at the hotel both nights which made early breakfast a bit of a challenge. The breakfast buffet was good, although nothing distictive - no regional items of note. The staff was challenged to process the number of people in the groups to get them on their way. Most of them wore masks, while understandable I found it disconcerting and stayed in a open courtyeard area until many had departed the dining area. There was also a very large private family event during the day on Saturday that imposed itself on everyone. After reading other reviews of this hotel mentioning a range of room conditions we requested a renovated room. I am not sure if we received one. The bathroom, particularly the shower stall in room 110, could use some attention. The room otherwise was good, nothing distictive other than a very nice outside porch. I would also add that due to the design of the hotel room 110 and those surrounding it are open to the ground floor so noise carries up the open stairway. I suggest you request a 200 room on FL 2. I also believe the housekeeping staff is challenged with the high turnover of rooms with tour groups. They had not gotten to our room by 15h. In sum, good hotel understanding that they cater to tour groups and large events.

The rooms are wonderful, we stayed in a room with a huge balcony. Breakfast with local products and plenty of variety. To highlight the sympathy of the staff of the reception and restaurant mainly to Sara of the restaurant who advised us enough places not only to visit but to eat etc.
I highly recommend staying in this hotel.

Possibly I must have been very unlucky with this stay, however there are things that can be improved a lot.
The worst of all was that the hotel ran out of water, apparently due to burst pipes. Despite being a situation that could happen, it was very annoying, there was no water for bathing or flushing, the worst thing is that in the face of this situation there was not a single word from the hotel, or if we needed anything, a simple explanation or a simple apology.
There was a huge group of Chinese people at the hotel, who made a lot of noise in the corridors very early in the morning. (In this case the hotel is not to blame but it is very unpleasant).
The beds are terrible, I think if we threw ourselves on the bed we would be thrown.
Breakfast was disappointing, very little variety, very very poor, they ran out of croissants and there were no replacements, packaged juices, little fruit, some of the worst I've ever had.
Paid parking (€5), which after all this they wanted to charge us for.
Unfortunately I don't have anything good to say, as I said at the beginning it could have been terrible luck.

Never again!
I stayed there for 2 nights on a business trip. The 4* stars they advertise on their website are a thing of the past. Nowadays, it's not 4* at all. Poor service, room with no amenities, no room service, air conditioning that can't be adjusted, not soundproofed and VERY noisy.
A hotel that caters for groups, even school-leaving trips. They hosted a huge group of highschool students who created havoc while I was stying there. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff. For the rest, it practises misleading advertising.
I don't recommend it.

Spacious room on the first floor with very large terrace and sun loungers overlooking the pool/garden. The hotel is situated close to the ancient Walls of the town (hence its name) and outside you can hear the traffic from the other side of the walls, but within the room the double glazing cuts this out well and the air-conditioner works well. Very nice outdoor courtyard within centre of hotel where you can take breakfast etc. Breakfast is self-service and we did not eat dinner at the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a lovely hotel with old-world charm in Evora. We stayed for four nights and found the room to be clean, comfortable and spacious. Our room had its own terrace that overlooked the garden with the medieval wall of the old city in the background, and we woke to the sounds of birds and a peacock. Breakfast was included and had a huge selection of fresh food. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

On the plus side it's just inside the city walls and if you're lucky there may be parking available. Rooms are small and basic, but clean. So if you just want a place to sleep and visit the city, it's fine. Restaurant is dismal. Even with just a few tables, they couldn't get anything to the table even close to warm. Buffet breakfast is high on quantity, but much lower on quality. Fine if your just looking to fill up before a day's sightseeing.

Would not recommend staying here. Would stay at an Ibis over this place. Shower was moldy from top to bottom. Very seldom do we wear sandals in a shower but did here.
Would not rate this hotel as a 4* by any stretch of the imagine. I cleaned the mold from in between tiles with my finger nail and wiped the ceiling with a makeup remover. Disgusting. Could be cleaner!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is centrally located within the walls of the city. It is a beatiful hotel, with a nice pool outside. The rooms have a classic design, but are nice and beautiful as well. The staff is friendly and breakfast was good. You can park the car in their parking lot for 5 euros a day, which was convenient. Really loved our stay here and would stay here again!

Hi there are two hotels, one is a more upgraded hotel with a spa and you can tell when you look at them both one is more posh than the other, just make sure you look at the locations on a street map before you book to help you decide which one you would like to stay at. the cheaper one is very nice and we liked it very much
