Bed was particularly firm, even by European standards. My hips hurt and sleeping was not possible at first. Staff were very kind and helpful in showing alternate rooms with beds thought to be softer (they were not) and gave us lots of extra pillows to make a makeshift bed with. Mattresses were new per staff. Understanding when we cancelled second night / did not charge us. Lobby is attractive. Room appeared clean, however, musty odor in room and hallways. Upgrades needed to carpet and furnishings to bring them up-to-date. Balcony had a nice view of the pool. Not worth 100 euros/night.
Easy ride to Evora, but not many accessible Petrol Stations. Mainly card and how much you want to fill. Easy to find Hotel outside City walls. Big, clean and busy at Lunchtime. Check In good, room fine, Restuarant much better than the last. A day walking in Evora and a trip out to the Menhirs in the Cork Trees. I liked.
This is the hotel where large tourist groups stay on their way to Southern Portugal, but unable to provide an adequate service therefore it is a chaos. There was a terrible sewage smell in our room and it was not possible to change it as the hotel was fully booked with several groups at the same time. The food is below average and the service is terrible. We stayed one night and happy to leave.
The only things about 4 stars is the wall with the symbol. Air conditioner don’t make enough hot. Accommodation needs a renew. Breakfast more simple than that is difficult to find. The good, the employees were very pleasantly and the interior swimming pool.
In front of the hotel there is a car park, the entrance and the lobby are spacious. Clean rooms with balcony. The downstairs public bathrooms and swimming pool are in urgent need of renovation. These facilities are not even in a 3 star condition anymore. Breakfast ok, lunch and dinner too. Peaceful area.
This is a very nice hotel, with big rooms, nice bath, a pool, air conditioning and a great breakfast. But the internet is open, not secure, and we never even got onto it, everything we tried timed out. So don't stay here if you need internet. It is out of town about a kilometer.
The layout of the hotel itself is good. What is lacking is modern upgrades. The Wi-Fi in the room is spotty at best. In the lobby it’s fine but it should be good in the rooms too. The food at the healthy restaurant was not very good. The outside pool looks nice. Balcony is nice. Air-conditioning in the room is awful. Overall I am not saying I would not stay here again but I would check around to see if there is something better. One thing we needed was parking and there is lots of that.
Wonderful Hotel in Evora. Very well located inside the walls of the downtown area, has its own parking garage (important in Evora), the facilities are excellent with A/C, wifi, etc. Great breakfast buffet, but most importantly the staff is WONDERFUL, they pamper you from arrival. Highly recommended.
As Evora is a walled city there are few hotels within the historic town. The Evora is a large, low rise modern hotel on the western edge of town with open views across the Alentejo plains. It is a mile or so into the centre of town - there is a fairly infrequent local minibus service and the Evora City tour bus has the hotel as one of its stops. Otherwise, its a pleasant walk or a reasonably cheap taxi ride from town. The hotel has a large car parking area and Evora also has a good complement of car parks around the periphery of the walled town. Check in was very efficient and we were given a room with a pleasant view out towards the countryside and a balcony. The car park was below and coaches parked there can irritatingly run their engines while parked. Rooms facing the other way look out over the hotel's pleasant outdoor pool area. There is an adult and a children's pool with grassy surrounds, loungers and a bar. There were quite a lot of insects floating in the pool on our first visit but less on subsequent dips. The room was fine with reasonable beds and bathroom. The air conditioning was a little weak. The hotel does host conventions and also two or three coach loads of tourists on many nights. This can make breakfast very crowded, although the restaurant area is very large. On the second day, breakfast was expanded to have two buffet tables, one at each end, and this helped greatly. Breakfast choice was adequate but not outstanding - fruit was mostly out of a tin. The pastries were good, as usual in Portugal. There is also a gym, indoor pool and outdoor walks and a driving range. Bikes can be hired but it would be nice to see the rates lower than the quoted 10 euros for four hours.…
We arrived around 11 pm and there was an event going on. At check-in we requested a double bed room and we were told that we had a twin room that had been prepared as a double. We were fine with that. Once we arrived at the room we were so disappointed. Firstly we were allocated right on top of the event room on rhe first floor. The lights wouldn't go on, so we had to be ourselves turning on all the lamps, the bed was not made up as a double. There was mould in the bathroom, the toilet paper rack was broken and the shower curtain is a regular cloth curtain, so you can imagine what happens when you take a shower. Also, the shower had a leak and we had to close the bathroom door to be able to aleep. The electricity board was completely open inside the wardrobe which is dangerous. My boyfriend is a heavy sleeper but I'm not so I was awake until about 1 am with music of the event. You can also hear everything from one room to another as I woke up with the guests' next door alarm. In the morning i went into the balcony which was dirty, with only one chair and the view was just as bad as you can get. I guess we were allocated in such a bad room because we were only staying one night. Still 100 € for a room like this is not worth it. There's a big breakfast room with lots of light but not a big selection of items. The staff is very polite and nice. I would say this hotel needs a big investment specially for the room's renovation. …
