Found this little gem by chance and my mother and I were very warmly welcomed unlike at the empty pub close by who informed me at 2.02pm that food service stopped at 2pm... Food was excellent, prices great and portion sizes fab. Will definitely be back x

Stopped here for lunch whilst cycling in the Wolds. This Inn welcomes cyclist and walkers and we received a very warm welcome. It does not purport to be a gastro pub as such but it serves good pub grub. We had a panini and a sandwich both of which were served with a lovely salad and homemade very tasty chips.... More

We stopped in wet bike kit, and received a very warm welcome. There was a longer than usual wait for the food, but there was a party of 8 of us and it came out together. It's a lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, and the food was really excellent. I'll definitely go back.

The team now running this pub are very friendly and enthusiastic. Excellent home-cooked food to satisfy the biggest appetite. Our 1-night stay was fine but our room was in need of a makeover (the owners are keen to do this when funds allow). Great packed lunch for our next day's walking!

Absolutely brilliant pub . Staff welcoming and friendly with proper home cooked food to die for. would definitely recommend a visit you will not be disappointed. The breaded brie is amazing and the desserts are huge home made and wonderfull. Give it a try.

We always pop in to the Gnu when we're visiting family in North Newbald and since it changed hands it's gone up hill so much! The staff are so friendly and it's always a pleasure to go. At Easter they had an Easter egg hunt in the back and I've never seen so many excited children in one place!

My mum was up visiting me and my husband on a monday so we tried booking in various restaurants, however, everywhere we tried didnt do food on a monday so we decided to stay in the village and try the Gnu Inn (this was also our first time visiting) when we arrived, the staff immediately made us feel very welcome... We stayed at the Gnu Inn after our first day walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The village is about 1 mile off the Yorkshire Wolds Way and was a welcome break after the first day of walking. The double room was very comfortable, in a separate building to the pub. The pub served excellent food and drinks, and really friendly... More

I was staying in the area with family and friends, we booked the Gnu Inn for dinner on Friday night. The welcome we received was excellent, we ordered drinks and then ordered food from a very reasonable menu with a "specials" section. All ten meals were served within a very reasonable timescale, every dish looked superb and the portions were... More

Stopped here overnight for a wedding nearby. Check-in was smooth and it was a great place to have a quick drink before we went to the wedding. Our room was clean and spacious, including everything we might need. However, it has to be said that the cooked breakfast (we also had cereal before) was excellent. It was of a high... More
