I host a yoga retreat here yearly and we are welcomed back each year with open arms. It is as easy decision to go back. This place is just what we need for peace and quiet. With amazing views right from your pillow.
We went for lunch here last week with a local friend. Such a cute seaside inn, beautiful location right on the water. The food was wonderful! We had a great time visiting and hanging out for the afternoon. The staff was very friendly.
This is our 6th trip to Jamaica. We decided to switch up our stay due to some better airfare a day before our normal travel date. We decided to stay at Luna Sea for one night before heading to our travel destination. Luna Sea was recommended to us by another traveler we know who stayed here over a year ago. Upon arrival we waited in the Lobby for at least 15 mins before someone yelled to another worker that there was people "waiting". Once they were there, we weren't greeted with a hello or welcome and from what i could understand they couldn't find our reservation at first. Once they found it they said follow me. We followed them into the entry way of the "hotel" which was not a great impression (personally to me first impresstions are very important). The entry way to the rooms had a none working fridge randomly there (i think) amoung freezers and pots and pans scattered. There was tables there with mismatched stuff, broken chairs, and some dirty plates and garbage. Once to our room they had us put down our stuff and then asked us how we were going to pay. They even asked us if we paid in full through booking.com because they didn't know. Once paid we didn't see any of them the rest of the night. I know this resort is small but no one ever offered to give us a tour or even just point out where this and that was. Once in our room we realized our bathroom door didn't shut all the way, some of the blinds were broken, the area where the coffee was, was dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned, and everything electronic was unplugged. These things aren't deal breakers but for what we paid for our room, i was a little taken back. We did eat at the resturant and i will say it was a fabulous meal even though the service was very slow. We know in Jamaica it is slower at times and i am okay with that. But i did notice while we were there that the owner must have been throwing a party of some sort to some guests she knew. Which is fine, however, when all those people that are suppose to be helping other guests are taken away for that, i find that a little rude. I know many of the people around us were waiting a long time for food as well as we saw plates and plates of food being delivered to the "party". It was disappointing to see us guests being overlooked by this event. We waited for two hours total for our food and like i said, the food was worth the wait, but to me why we waited so long was disappointing. There is a "pool" i think (like i said we weren't really given a tour) however, there would be no way id go in that pool if it was one. Looked very dirty and it was smaller. Which for us it didn't matter as we were staying only one night, but if guests were staying here a week, i am sure they would be disappointed. I will say the location was amazing, you are right next to the water which was a huge pro in my opinion. We left promplty in the morning to our other resort. It saddens me to write this review because i have never left a so-so bad review on Trip Advisor but i just want other guests to be aware and hoping from this review changes could be made. We were very much hoping that this could be our go to place for one night and then head to other resort every time we come to Jamaica. But unfortuantly i do not believe that will happen again. Also, as a side note we stayed in a two bed room because there was four of us sharing room- when it states FREE BREAKFAST for your room, that is only for two of the guests, which is kind of weird. Although we didn't take advantage of that, if i wouldn't have clarified that we woudln't have known that before hand.…
I had a great stay. The room was nice and had tv with plenty of channels and free internet. I had fantastic meals in the restaurant. Of course, like any place some wait staff are better than others. Beaches are nearby and kayaks and paddle boards are available for guests at no additional cost. I really liked that they seem to be a responsible local business that contributes to the local primary school.
We stayed for a week and were absolutely blown away. It felt like we were on our honeymoon. The room was right on the water. The gazebo was perfect for a sunset drink, enjoying the picturesque scenery, or sitting and talking. The owner is on-site and happy to give guidance based on her in-depth local knowledge. The food in the restaurant is some of the best on the island. We had a great stay.
