The husband of the owner of this replica of an ancient Roman villa is an archeologist and he has made sure that as much as possible is authentic. In the entryway there is an ara (altar) to the Lares and penates and offerings are at the altar. A very unusual part of our stay included a Roman dinner in the...

This is a lovely place to stay. We had been walking the Via de la Plata in a driving rain storm and had reserved a room. The owner greeted us when we arrived soaking wet and welcomed us to their Casa Rural or Apartment. They also have a Roman bath which helped us relax after a stressful day. The apartment...

The highlight of my stay here was the dining experience (see my review), but equally memorable was the massage of Greek origin, floating in the Roman bath. Useful tip: To use the outdoor dipping pool, there's no need to book a termas session (as I thought). It's open to anyone at any time.

We went here for a few hours to relax, get a massage and sample the baths. We had the pool and the baths to ourselves which made it even better and the massage was really good. Would definitely visit again next time we're in Merida.

This is a small, yet nice, apartment located at the end of a quiet street with some parking spots out front. Situated near Merida, a Roman theme permeates the entire experience here. The remodeled building has a Roman façade and there's a miniature Roman temple in the central courtyard space. Guests are provided white robes and flower head bands which...

What a little hidden gem....we need a place to stay with our dogs on our annual drive to Portugal. About 20 minutes from Caceras, and literally 3 minutes from the A66 is the tiny little friendly village of Aljucen. Perfectly located for what we need, this sleepy little place is ideal for walking the dogs, with a couple of dog...

If you are simply seeking a place to stay then this may not appeal, but if you seek something unusual this may be a delight. Our hosts have created a replica Roman villa with a Roman bath. It is a quaint experience which some clearly find delightful, and summer weather may enhance it. However, as a place to stay as...
