My co-worker and I were there for a business trip and stayed for two days in January. My original room was 421 but was right next to the elevator but the front desk was able to change it to 717; both overlooked the circular area that has all the restaurants/shops. The room was good for one person and happy to see the barn door for the bathroom instead of a door that opens to inside or outside as well as a walk-in shower with glass door instead of a tub/shower combo with a fabric/plastic shower curtain.
The room had two queen beds along with the living space with desk. The window had two layers of shades so the room could be dark when needed.
The pool was a decent size as well as the fitness area. The included breakfast was very good with several hot and cold options. We had dinner here one night and the food was good along with the portion size.
Parking was free and was fortunate enough to find parking in the lot that is in the middle of the plaza, rather than having to go below to the parking garage.
When traveling to Cartago, I would definitely stay here again.

The staff was super nice. Many of them spoke and understood English. The hotel is nestled in a shopping center with shops and restaurants. The breakfast was good; there are some options you have to request. The hotel was quiet, clean, family friendly. Everything worked as it should. They were helpful. There was one thing misleading to me and that is that I thought it was indicated that the hotel provided testing for your departure, which is not true. The hotel has however partnered with a lab in the area to complete testing. The cost of the test is a whopping $92, which again I was not pleased with. There is a very competent clinic in the center as well that charged just $20 for testing. Please locate them if you are in need. We were in and out in 45 minutes the same day and received results by email within an hour or so. Otherwise it was a great stay. Walmart is in walking distance and that was a very nice added bonus. I would totally recommend you stay here. (One last thing, excusions such as rain forest, volcanos, beaches etc are at minimum two hours way from this hotel). Be mindful of that when making plans. We did go ziplining near by at Canopy La Carpintera. It was a 15 min or so ride. It starts at a restaurant. The food was good and the ziplining and tour guides were amazing. Please check times prior to going because we ended up staying there for hours bc we did not check first but staff was great and opened the restaurant early to accommodate us. It was worth it. We'll definitely be back to Hyatt and Costa Rica. If you don't know Spanish start learning before your trip. Also be sure and have your ride from the airport lined up or make it prior to walking out of the airport because you will not have phone service nor wifi once you step out. Also consider buying a CR sim and getting it shipped ot your home to fill or make a plan to know where to buy one as soon as you land. It was difficult not having internet capability. Have a great time.

This was our third stay at Hyatt Place and we were just as pleased with our stay as previously. The staff was efficient and responsive. Our room was expertly cleaned every day. The breakfast was more than expected (having stayed at previous hotels) especially since we could special order. Wonderful! It is conveniently located also. We definitely would choose this Hyatt for any future visit to San Jose.

Hotel condition is good and the free breakfast is better than many other chains, however, the location of the hotel is very far from everything else in San Jose, which means a lot of time in traffic and very expensive taxi rides ($50 in airport taxi). Set in a upscale stripmall with many dining and store options and Walmart is across the street, so basically anything cheap you could possibly want. Service was subpar, compared to other countries, not sure about domestic comparisons since this was only hotel we stayed at, rest were Air BnBs.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were all very friendly. Location was great as there were many restaurants in the same plaza as the hotel, parking was free and ample as well as having a Walmart across the street. My family was only in San Jose for 1-night so it was a great place to go after the airport before departing the next morning. The included breakfast was great!

We were just in this lovely hotel. We are an autism family so things can go bad fast when we are traveling but everything was perfect from the Front Desk to the cleaners and restaurant staff. We made a friend with a server named Roberto. He was so good with our severe asd gentle giant who is 240 around 6'2 at 17. The security in and around the hotel were exceptional. You will not find a more secure location. Very friendly and helpful with our son. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone and especially to our autism families out there. Travel IS possible. I promise. ❤️

This was our base camp used for our 12 day trip to Costa Rica. Wanted to stay out of the San Jose downtown area, but close enough to Uber. This was a great location as this hotel is placed in a "strip mall" that consisted of 6+ different restaurants (which we visited 3 of them). The hotel was clean and offered up free breakfast, had a pool and small gym to use. Staff is friendly. Great stay

Best service ever! I’ve stayed all over the world but I’d be hard-pressed to name any hotel with better service than this one. I was there for dental surgery and stayed for 5 nights. Their breakfast buffet (included) had a great variety of fresh food & tropical juices. I ordered room service nearly every day and the food came fresh, hot and quick! Anything I asked for was provided immediately and when I had a problem in my room, two people showed up to help and they did not rush to leave nor put their hand out for a tip. They even tried to refuse it when it was offered, but grateful when they gave in. After my surgery, I needed to eat in my room and they brought me up a breakfast tray from the buffet at no charge. One employee that made my stay extra special was Diana. Her bright smile and sunny disposition were always appreciated and she made me feel right at home. Also, I found the cost of the room and the meals were very reasonable. I will be back!!

This hotel in nestled in the middle of a shopping plaza with several restaurants, a few boutiques, a pharmacy, a nail/hair salon, and a movie theater. There is a WalMart across the street so everything you need is a few steps away. The elevators require a key card for access to only your particular floor for added security and the hotel restaurant has really good food. The hotel is very neat & clean & the rooms are spacious and nice. The staff was exceptional and we ate at the hotel restaurant each night because we liked it so much. The breakfast had great fruit selection & great hot food selections as well. It is only a thirty minute drive from the airport without traffic and I would definitely stay here again.
