With claims of being a ‘unique’ 5 star property in Flanders and the high review score, expectations were high… leading to a disappointed stay. The hotel building is quite nice, with sumptuous reception area, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are quite spacious. And the hotel had made a good flow dealing with the COVID-19 situation. As other reviewers mentioned, location is excellent. That’s where the good vibes stops however and I start to disagree with most reviewers here. The room itself was nowhere near 5 star levels. Think more of late 90s 4 star chic with a perfume of rundown. The towels we got in our room were completely worn down, including holes in them and threads dangling from them. We could hear every step in the room above and the doors slamming in the hallway, the amenities in the bathroom are from some off brand supplier, no bath salts or anything for the bath; the shower itself is also something that belongs more in a hostel or sports club shower room. Giving the bathroom a distinct utilitarian vibe rather than luxurious. So maybe this is quite ‘unique’ in a 5 * hotel :-) I’ve long avoided Bruges fearing it’s somewhat of a tourist trap and this experience didn’t completely prove me wrong, however I’m sure there are many better hotels in the city.

Dear guests, Thank you for taking the time in sharing your experience with us. The hotel is indeed an impressive building and our staff continuously strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I regret to read that did not live up to your expectations. The rooms have been fully renovated last year and do comply to all 5star superior accreditations. The style is indeed classic, as you'd expect from a historical castle. Please contact us in case of a future stay in Bruges, and we'll look into the different possibilities that suits you best. Wishing you a lovely day. Kind regards, Hotel Dukes' Palace

We had originally booked into The Aragon but due to covid, this has closed for a while and we were moved to the Dukes Palace and wow, what a great experience we had there. Such an impressive building from the outside. 5 mins walk from the Markt and a fabulous room. Staff were really attentive and we really enjoyed the bar area. We will be back next time we are in this beautiful city

I was here for a business meeting, staying overnight. An excellent stay. Good attention to covid measures. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom with L’Occitane toiletries. Good quality towels and robes. The hotel is beautiful, with a mix of traditional and modern touches. We had three meals here - breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus drinks a few times, and everything was delicious. I look forward to returning!

As soon as you walk into the hotel you feel the grandeur. Cosy salons to read or relax, impressive staircase at the reception, wonderful garden etc. The standard room we had booked was finished to a high standard. Although the hotel is very centrally located it was very silent. Breakfast was very good, ample choice and very well organised to handle covid restrictions. All the staff were very friendly. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The menu was pricey but the food was of excellent quality and very nicely presented. Next time I go to Brugge I will definitely stay at the Dukes’ Palace again.
