Having stayed at the Dukes Palace, Bruges for many years previously, it saddens me to warn travellers the service used to be 5*, my experience this weekend would not justify 1*. The room was not cleaned each day, the heating did not work despite requests to fix it on 3 separate occasions. The curtains did not close properly. The restaurant served our food to the table opposite and then tried to serve it to us despite the other table having interfered with the food. The management apologised for the poor service in general and took 60 euros off the bill, despite the total cost being over 2,000 euros. The couldn't care less attitude is something that I haven't experienced previously and I would not recommend the hotel to anyone, having looked at the website, my complaint is one of many of similar issues, you have been warned, travellers beware.

We stayed three days. What a BEAUTIFUL hotel. The room was spacious and the bathroom was beautiful. The people at reception were very helpful with suggestions while visiting Bruges. Everyone spoke English although we tried to use a few words in Flemish. One woman said we were the first in 6 months to even ask how to say a few phrases in her main language! The breakfast was amazing! SO much offered. Centrally located just a few minutes walk to the main square. A bike rental company was located a few minutes walk away from the hotel, too. I would very much recommend a stay at the Hotel Dukes' Palace.

Our room was spacious with a comfy bed but I guess that the mattress is dated. Overall service was below par for a so called five star hotel. The fifth star comes for a genuine hospitality I guess but on service level in the bar and summer terrace it was not noticed. We had to wait like 7 min before someone noticed us and than wait again before our order was taken and than again wait like 10 min before our drinks were served (a latte and white wine ...). When signing off to the room we said to each other we can find better options in the center that is 200 meters away.

We loved the Dukes Palace. We had no idea of its history but the palace structure, the layout and the large courtyard hinted at the opulent life of its former inhabitant, the Duchess of Burgundy who presided over the area in early history. It's a marvel what they had done in terms of creating beautiful rooms out of the palace space. The location was perfect, right on one of the main commercial streets in the old city center. They had elegant corridors, well-decorated spaces for informal lounging. The rooms were tastefully furnished. Breakfast was good, with an egg station. They brought coffee to you in nice porcelain containers. And interestingly, they had slabs of white, dark and milk chocolates that you could cut pieces of. This was pretty unique. All the staff were courteous and very accommodating. My wife complained of an unpleasant smell as we would come out of the hotel - but not sure what that was - cat's poop? The pillows were too large round and hard - my wife complained but they didn't have any other type.

Beautiful city, hotel clean , rooms and beds very comfortable. Shame about the very disappointing service in the bar. We were told we could sit anywhere and after five minutes I went and got the menus for the tapas and drinks. After a while our order was taken with a very helpful manager who answered our questions as the waiting staff did not seem to have any knowledge of the menu. The food was excellent, I ordered a second glass of wine and my sister was going to order a coffee and liquor, when my wine arrived. After fifteen minutes I decided not to have the wine and my sister decided not to bother either. Shame as this tainted the end of our four day stay.

Second time we stayed at this hotel and yes it seems to be the best in Bruges but will be leaving this time with a doubt in our minds and a slight disappointment. The hotel itself, the building, it’s location, it’s garden are all really very nice and up there with some of the best we have ever stayed in around the world but some little things that a hotel of this calibre should nail every time we’re missing this time. So, some constructive criticism for the management… 1. Up the quality in your bar…there are so many superb cocktails bars around now and yours is way off being anywhere close which sadly prevented us from using it after the first time. 2. Improve room cleaning..ours was late (14.30) and then the room was not cleaned well..floor definitely was not hoovered.. 3. Improve your room service offering…it’s only there as a last resort but when you do need something you do expect the hotel to be able to fulfil your needs well and even a basic tea for 2 in the room was pretty much in undrinkable.. Just little things but noticeable..otherwise staff were good and overall stay was great it’s just when you pay this amount and the expectation is very high when it’s not delivered it is a shame Would probably look around elsewhere next time sadly

This hotel is perfect if you are staying in Brugge with family or friends and is a great location. It is less than a five minute walk to the central square and is surrounded by lots of beautiful patisseries and restaurants (menus even for the fussiest of eaters). The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere and staff were helpful throughout, a lovely lady at reception provided us with lots of recommendations of activities and attractions to visit. Our rooms were clean and spacious, towels and robes were provided for the Spa. The Spa consisted of a sauna, steam room and Himalayan Salt wall. The star of the show during our stay was the breakfast. The breakfast included Cava, tower of pastries, fresh meats and fruit. Also there was cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs. We had a great time at the Dukes Hotel and is worth a visit when staying in Brugge

Great service, reasonable rates, excellent housekeeping staff. Stayed in one of the family suites, which are charming and a bit funky, but work well for a family of four.Had an issue with the city tour that we set up and they took care of it very well. We would definitely stay there again in Bruges!

My wife was told to move from shared outdoor patio table by management. Rude dismissive and sexist. Make way so man in room next door can smoke his cigar. Unbelievable. Will never ever visit this place again. Room 602. Lighted windows are her room. Apparently patio is only for men. Only a four star hotel for men. She had similar treatment in the restaurant bar. Avoid this place. Certainly don’t sit at the table outside your window.
