A beautiful Historic house hotel with views of the canal and some very unusual rooms. I stayed in a suite(room 51) with its own staircase, separate bathroom and beautiful bedroom. It had the most comfortable mattress I've slept on. The hotel staff are superb and the breakfast is not to be missed we could even had sparkling wine with breakfast. But the choice for 11 euros was fantastic value. Brugge is so Historic and to stay here just added to the sense of being part of history. I loved this hotel, would go back there anytime.

Overall we were pleased with our stay, with breakfast being a highlight. Our room (18) was quiet, spacious with a comfortable super king-size bed and plenty of storage. The room had radiators and AC so we were able to adjust the temperature of the room. It is an old building and full of character and so squeaky floorboards come with the territory, however there were a couple of minors points that would have made the room a little more comfortable. 1) the pillows were small and not particularly plump, a bit bumpy, 2) the tea making facilities we very limited, we had two tea bags and 2 coffee creamers, so didn't bother making anything 3) the room was a little tired with loose bathroom floor tiles and paint needing a refresh. The reception staff were lovely and the hot and cold buffet style breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection and, if you fancied it, you could have a glass of fizz also. Would not hesitate in coming back.

Martins Relais in Bruges is one of the best places we have stayed in. Your first few steps confirm that with antique furniture and paintings. Reception is large and checking in was easy and smooth with the friendly receptionist. The corridors are adorned with paintings. We paid extra for a canal view room (22) and we certainly were not disappointed. Our bedroom was large and spacious with large windows facing the canal letting in sunlight onto an equally large bed which is extremely comfortable. An antique wardrobe from floor to ceiling had plenty of space for clothes and housed a safe and coffee and tea making facility. Bathroom was large with a large bath with an excellent shower. The sink was again large and had quality antique style fittings. There is dressing room area by the bathroom which has a vintage style desk/table with draws for clothes and things. On the bathroom door was a large mirror which was floor to ceiling and something many hotel rooms do not have. Although the hotel is from the 16th century, yes some people may interpret certain things looking as though they need refurbishment but that’s really nice as they may look old and dated but that’s why Martins Relais is so nice. Its selling point is obviously location which is ideal but it’s the quality and warmth that is key. It’s antique furniture and paintings are in keeping with the age of the building but rest assured all modern safety requirements and standards are maintained. If modernist looks with clean lines and 21st century designs and decor are your preference then Martins Relais is not for you. Bruges is an excellent town to explore and certainly did not disappoint and Martins Relais certainly did not disappoint. Both complimented each other perfectly for a memorable and unforgettable visit. You will be charmed as we were.

We loved the hotel overall, but the best experience was with the staff at reception. We don’t remember the names, but there were two gentlemen working on different days, and both were extremely helpful. We had this feeling as if they really liked their job and enjoyed what they are doing - and thus they get happy customers! As for the room itself, it was big and spacious, with some vintage touch. Though, I believe that some furniture or decorations could use a bit of renovation. E.g squeaky floors, wardrobes or doors. There also wasn’t great soundproofing, so we could hear everything from the corridor, even though the room has 2 entrance doors. If you like spacious rooms with some notes of vintage, and a great service, for a reasonable price, then you will find this hotel worth it!

This hotel is showing some wear and, if you have mobility issues, you may want to go to a different hotel. While there is a lift or elevator inside the hotel, there are steps to access the hotel at the front door and at the rear door. There is no hand railing at the steps at the front door; there is, however, a hand railing at the steps at the rear door. I was asked if I realized I would be staying in an old building because this hotel is in an old building and updates, therefore, are limited. I have stayed in plenty of "old buildings" all over the world and those have been updated so they are at least comfortable. As for the room (room #1), it has an old world vintage feel with an eye level view of the water. The shower/tub combo is a bit difficult to get in and out of and, if you have mobility issues, this could be a challenge for you. The shower is also slippery. There is, however, good water pressure in the shower. There is one electrical outlet below each of the two bedside tables. If you have medical equipment that needs to be plugged in on the bedside table, you will have to unplug the lamp so you can connect your medical equipment. Room was very warm and the lady that helped me with my bags told me the room could get warm in the afternoon sun. It never cooled off and was much warmer than the public areas of the hotel. Hotel does not provide room service but they do offer a daily breakfast. Front desk staff is polite and courteous.

Everything was great. The room was comfortable, great canal view. I liked the atmosphere of the hotel and the old wooden stairs . And so close to the city Center 5-10 min on foot. If I visit Brugge again I will stay there again. The staff was friendly and they helped us when I forgot something when we departed

It is close to center. The building is old. If you book standard it is very, very small. The very small rooms are not advertised on the web page. It is clean, and all bathroom facilities are ok. but obviously very old. From the outside disappointing. Reception lady was very nice. You can change standard room, if available for quite an amount of money. Down town is the only asset

The location is super, being not more than a 5 minute walk to Market Square. On the way to the square, we noticed the very first day a patisserie that had incredible croissant sand pastries - we had breakfast there every day rather than at the hotel. The hotel reception was very pleasant and helpful, and pointed out available parking. The hotel does have its own parking which we used and is two blocks away. Rooms were a good size for such a close-in location and were well maintained. Beds were comfy. We would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed and loved everything about this place! Very happy. When you set outside it’s like you’re back in time. The garden and the inside was amazing too. Very clean rooms and the inside had a nice design. Concierge was very helpful. I would love to come back!
