The staff could not have been any more accommodating. They helped with dinner reservations with some of the best fish we ever had. Also, loved the front row service for the Processional. For families that travel with pets, this was a great place to stay.

Hotel de Tuilereen has many outstanding attributes - a great location, spacious rooms lovely rooms, an outdoor patio area - but the most impressive to us the staff. Without fail the front desk was helpful, friendly, and attentive to our every need. They were truly outstanding!

I consider myself to be a well seasoned traveler who has had the good fortune to be able to stay in 4 & 5 star hotels all over the world. While I was looking forward to staying at this property, my most recent experience with Hotel De Tuilerieen was a real disappointment There is no denying that the property is in an excellent location. My room on the 3rd floor was clean, comfortable, minimally furnished but it was definitely not luxurious by today's 4-5 star standards. I was without a functioning safe for 24 hours & was unable to get the drain in one of my sinks to function properly throughout my stay. The cleaning person threw out my washing sponge after my first night for which the hotel denied any responsibility and there was never any discussion of replacement. The all marble bathroom, although beautiful to look at, was an accident waiting to happen and I had to resort to putting a bath mat on the floor of the shower to mitigate the danger. I was given one hand and one bath towel daily and there were no towel hooks. I was on an a bike trip organized by an American based company which had used this hotel in the past. After I was injured in a fall which required stitches at a local hospital, no one at the front desk on that day or thereafter asked how I was, what they might do to help me, and what I might need to feel more comfortable. The nice, overworked women doing the breakfast shift were the only ones who seemed to care about my well being! Is this really how the hotel thinks it can keep guests happy, feeling cared for and coming back for a return visit? The final indignity was the manager's refusal to give me the discount for my last night which is the normal courtesy extended by the property to the guests of the company which organized my trip. His claim was that I had not asked for such a discount prior to my visit. He was extremely rude and adamant about not being willing to apply any kind of credit towards my bill, comp me for my breakfast on the last day, or offer me anything as a good faith gesture. He also was not at all disturbed to hear that I would be contacting the company I was traveling with or that I would be writing reviews on the various travel websites. This credit would have amounted to less than $20.00 and shows the categorical stinginess on the hotel's part! After reading other reviews of a negative nature, there appears to be a pattern indicating that their primary concern is the bottom line regardless of the dollar amount in question. Clearly the hotel has staffing and managerial issues which need to be addressed and my opinion is that its star rating is too high. In my many years of traveling, I can say that I have never been treated in such a manner or felt so disgusted by the arrogance on the part of a hotel's staff. There are many beautiful hotels in Bruges with wonderful reputations. If you are planning a visit to this magical city, I would encourage you to do your homework and research other properties. Response from Kristof Vandenheed, General Manager at Hotel De Tuilerieen
Responded 3 weeks ago
Dear Madam, Many thanks for your feedback. We regret to hear that your stay was not as expected. You stayed in our renovated executive room, with luxury bathrooms. This room also offers a great view and meets all standards for a 4 star hotel. Several staff members assisted to search for your lost washing sponge. Our housekeeping manager even checked the laundry. Our staff also checked your safe during your stay and your safe appeared to work after all. As hotel we don't offer any discounts when our guests threaten us with the fact of writing bad reviews. We do hope to meet you again on a better occasion in our hotel.

Amazing hotel, location, pool and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Printing details for luggage deposit At Brussels MIDI station. Recommending stunning restaurants in Bruges. I could go on for ever! The breakfast each morning was freshly prepared, stunningly presented & tasted gorgeous! The pool was a little haven of relaxation and as it was quite small you can reserve it for just your family - highly recommend doing that! Would go back in a heartbeat!

After a long few weeks of travel, we ended our Europe trip here, and will never forget this gem! Pristine, yet unpretentious. In the heart of everything, our stay at Hotel De Tuilerieën was personalized, peaceful and welcoming. We wandered this beautiful city by day, and were greeted upon our return as though we were family. Jean Philippe anticipated our every need and remembered our favorite afternoon or end of day cocktails. He often provided additional insights to the area, and was instrumental in ensuring we had a perfect stay. Our room was spacious and clean, with windows that opened overlooking the canal. The bells playing every 15m added a magical element to everything. Bathroom very clean, updated and elegant, our bed comfortable. Breakfast was beyond satisfactory in every way: tasty, fresh and abundant. We didn't use the pool(fee). Secure parking on sight was key. Driving in Bruges is no easy task. Once again, Jean Philippe communicated instructions to us well in advance. We plan to return for Christmas! The overall aesthetic to this Hotel is dreamlike. Beautiful architecture, and intriguing history make HDT a 'best kept secret' when visiting Bruges!

My partner and I stayed here for a birthday getaway in oct 2022. We had a room on the front and having coffee in bed with the window wide open whilst listening to the bells from the belfry was magical. We enjoyed the spa and finished every day of sightseeing seeing with a drink (or two) in the beautiful hotel bar. The staff were immensely helpful. This hotel should be a 5* without a shadow of a doubt. It’s worth noting that during a weekend many restaurants get booked up so booking in advance would be recommended; during our stay we went to Sans Cravate which was an incredible experience also.

Our stay here was exceptional start to finish! The Hotel itself is beautiful and in an absolutely perfect location, right in the centre with all the local attractions close by but without feeling busy right on your doorstep! The staff are so friendly, polite and made us feel really welcome. Breakfast was well worth it and offered fantastic choice and an ideal way to start our day. We also experienced the wellness area which offered a luxurious touch and a tranquil place to unwind, as well as enjoying the hotel bar which was the ideal place to relax and enjoy a drink in a beautiful setting before heading out to dinner. I can't fault it, we had a lovely, memorable stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a calming and gorgeous hotel right in the heart of Bruges.

This is a 5 star hotel, and it’ll get that rating soon enough - I’ve stayed in my share of them, this hotel just ‘gets everything right’, and then surprises you You know the experience when you see another hotel foyer, and think ‘I should stay there the next time I come here’? This is that hotel. At Christmas, they decorated the hotel incredibly beautiful and welcoming - they even have a pool, which is rare in Bruges, and the fact this isn’t a sole feature should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the stay 10/10

We’ve been staying at the DeTuilerieen at Christmas for many years. We can’t really imagine staying at any other hotel. The Twilly makes you feel special. They achieve this in part by being exclusive. The gates of their excellent carpark lock firmly behind you and there’s a prominent sign outside the front entrance to the hotel that advises non-residents that they may not use any of the hotel amenities including the bar. I guess they pay a price for this but its very much to the benefit of guests who have the cosy lounge to themselves. They also achieve this exclusive feel through their staff who manage to be able to treat you as respected friends right from first encounter. Like much of Brugge, the hotel is a preserved historical building but the Twilly’s owners have done much to keep the period elegance of its interior as well. This has resulted in some small comprises in the bedrooms. In a modern system built hotel I’d be critical of the lack of available power sockets by the bed, for example, but the elegance of the room more than compensates for thus. The polished hard wood floors, the brick fire place, period escritoire or the beautiful chandelier set the accommodation apart from others hotels. We chose a Royal Executive room on the first floor. With its three metre high ceiling and four full length windows it’s lovely to be able to welcome so much light on a winter’s morning. Of course you have to pull four sets of heavy curtains and reattach the eight tie-backs; in another life you’d call the servant to do that! It’s good to see that Brugge has bounced back from the tourist deprivations of the pandemic. The Twilly has not escaped completely unscathed, though; the large, airy lounge that we preferred to the bar has been closed to residents (its become a private function room apparently). Also the breakfast buffet has definitely shrunk, though the choice and service remain of the highest quality. For us, there’s still no debate; we will be back!
