I booked two rooms at this hotel having read their website and the reviews online beforehand. Originally booked directly with the hotel but then changed to a booking website as the hotel would not reduce their price by 1 cent. Was only fractionally cheaper than staying Brussels ! The positives: Reasonably close to the city centre, large bedroom, nice decor, pleasant atmosphere. The negatives: Bathroom terrible, no floor drain so the floor gets flooded, shower screen has no rubber seals to prevent water spilling out, faucet configuration restricts movement in the bath/shower, mosquitoes ! Coffee capsules terrible. Corridor decoration and carpets in common areas need attention. Likely would choose somewhere else if we return to Bruges. Gave it a 3* rating, maybe a little harsh but not worth 4* IMO.

What a surprise this hotel was from the minute we walked in the door! Loved the lobby where we had a nite cap each night; the staff simply could not have been more helpful; the bed in our bright deluxe room was enormous and extremely comfortable and although we only had breakfast once ( on Sunday as few other places open) it was very good with lots of choice. The hotel is within walking distance of everywhere and on the less touristy side of town which we loved. Top top… book a deluxe room. Standard are a little tight albeit very tasteful.

Stayed over bank hol weekend. Pros: nice swimming pool (albeit much smaller than photos), lovely breakfast, rooms v v clean. Good location. Cons: roadworks going on outside currently. Whole pavement was up. Big h&s breach. You have to go to reception to book breakfast and then walk back to be allowed in…strange. Got chased down the hallway by staff for simply taking an apple from breakfast (I only had a coffee, juice and a yoghurt in there & paid full price!) who said I wasn’t allowed but couldn’t explain why. Toiletries arent topped up during changeover cleans. Classes in the room were polished or something - tasted like hairspray couldn’t use them.

Booked a specific room with terrace on the pictures, got another one without terrace and balcony and facing the main street. Reception was rude and did not offer a solution. Handyman entered room after one time knocking without waiting for a reply. Toilet paper was not refilled.

A decent, well run hotel a short walk from the centre of town. All staff were helpful and friendly. Although I enjoyed my stay, there were a few things worth pointing out…. My room was so small! Small rooms only work if there’s space for storage (under the bed is always the best option) but there was nothing here. I was travelling alone and it was a challenge - I think it would send a couple crazy! There’s a small clothes rack but a coffee machine, kettle and other silting directly underneath it so you can’t use it for much. Also, the location of my room was really odd. It wasn’t in the main hotel building - it was reached by either an external spiral staircase or through the hotel then out of a fire door. The latter was ok for going to the room, but not always possible going from the room because the fire door was usually shut. So leaving with a heavy bag wasn’t straightforward! On the positive side, the room was furnished to an excellent standard, the coffee machine and coffee were great, the bathroom was good (apart from the shower door seal not being good), the Wi-Fi excellent and there were unexpected extras like a minibar and dressing gowns/slippers. There’s a pool and gym - a nice bonus - but the pool is very small and heavily chlorinated. Ok for kids to mess around in but you couldn’t really use it for a swim. Similarly, the gym was small. The treadmill was broken throughout my stay. The weights section was just a multi-gym machine. Ok for a holiday workout but if someone else is using it…tough luck! But it was a nice hotel. I didn’t have breakfast but it looked decent. I’d stay again but get a bigger room in the main building :)

I’ve seen a few negative reviews of the Grand Hotel Normandy (one including the room I’ve just stayed in) and I can’t understand them. I’ve just returned from 5 night there with my wife and son and we loved this hotel. I think some people may just have weirdly high standards. Anyway, I would stay in this hotel again without hesitation. Our check in was smooth and quick. The staff were always very attentive and helpful and spoke several languages including English. Our room (16) was lovely. Beautifully decorated and spacious. We had Belgian chocolates on the beds on arrival which was a nice touch. We had an outdoor space with seating which was unexpected. Our beds were huge and v comfortable. There were extra pillows in the cupboard. We had robes which we could use to go to the indoor heated pool which was great for unwinding after a long day of walking and exploring in Bruges. Breakfast was way better than I expected. It’s described as continental but there are some hot foods (bacon, eggs, beans) and a lovely spread of hams, cheeses and breads and lots of other options. All delicious and very fresh. Super! Location wise it’s a 20 minute walk from the train station and a 15 minute walk to the central Markt which was perfect. We loved our stay and will be very happy to return.

When it states parking on site what this means is 9 parking spaces for 63 bedrooms, the rest of the parking is a public underground car park 300m away and not easy to get to, When I had 2 disabled family members of 84 and 86 yr of age there is no lift in the public car park just a lot of steps not ideal The hairdryer did not work And when I was one of many guests complaining of the parking facilities we had Chris the night porter become very aggressive and abusive , who was not part of the discussion but decided to include himself when I was discussing it with Julia the receptionist Very falsely advertised for parking on site as 9 spaces is clearly not enough for the guests but feel if this was correctly advertised the hotel would lose bookings Very worn out hotel

Fabulous room, bed was so comfortable. Checking in was a breeze, they spoke English to Is and explained everything. Loved the chockies! Breakfast was delightful, everything and more ! Even champagne if you wished ( we did ) Short walk to the shops. Parking unavailable on site for us, but parking underground was available just a short walk from the accommodation. We could pull up out front drop bags off the. Park the car. We left it there for 2 days as we walked everywhere. Demi come back again

Location of hotel is on very edge of historic area so it is a little walk. Elevator was out of order on day we arrived do we had to walk our cases upstairs. Stayed in family room 16. Drain in shower was extremely slow to drain water so we couldn't run shower on full power, bathroom glass door had dropped so it was rubbing on floor and difficult to open. Painfully small wardrobe for a family room when there was space to fit a bigger wardrobe. Not even a complimentary bottle of water, had to pay 3 euros for it. Room was ok but a bit tired. Why only 1 pillow each? Air con did not work. Asked at reception and they magically switched it on. Trip switch at main desk? Air con would not go less than 18 degrees Celsius so the room was too warm on a very warm day outside.receptionist could not change controls. Safe in wardrobe was not fixed down so it could just be picked up with your stuff inside and carried off. Small issues but they affected our stay
