Hotel Ter Brughe is situated in the centre of Bruges. The Markt, the shopping streets, all main attractions, nice restaurants and cozy bars are within walking distance. Along one of the most picturesque canals in the peaceful old quarter of St.Gillis, between the Augustine Bridge and the Tower Bridge , you will find the hotel. The oldest reference to the building dates from 1470. Believed is that the beautiful vaulted cellar is older. Built originally as a warehouse for goods which were brought here along the canals, it serves today as a magnificent setting for your buffet breakfast. The hotel is non-smoking and has 46 comfortable rooms. Since 1985 hotel Ter Brughe is a listed building. Therefore there is no elevator in the hotel.

The staff, especially Kamran, were friendly and very responsive to our needs. A broken light bulb was quickly replaced as soon as we reported it. We enjoyed two comfortable nights with delicious breakfasts. It is worth asking for an upstairs room if you are paying for a canal view. Ours was in the basement, and although spacious and comfortable (and probably cool in summer?) the view was not so great. The location is close enough to the centre to walk around easily, and yet far enough out to be very peaceful. Admittedly we were there in October - perhaps not the busiest month! We parked in the large underground carpark at Zant, a bit cheaper than the hotel and easily accessible from the south of the city.

A small very expensive hotel close to the centre of Bruges. On our arrival the receptionist was not interested , the room we were given was very very small although clean! The view from our room was dreadful (see photo) unless you like looking at a fire escape! breakfast was good extensive but expensive! The very small bar in the hotel was manned by the receptionist who was very pleasant however never around!! so no service, lounge was small. The hotel room was very noisy and it was a good job my family was next door as they hear everything that was going on in our room, and we actually conversed through the walls! The safe was not secured tot he wardrobe as you see I picked it up and put it on the bed (see photo). All in all a pleasant stay in Bruge which was very expensive, but this hotel did not help and I would never stay in this hotel again!!

The positives: Very good location. Breakfast was very good. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The negatives: The shower facilities were awful. The bathroom had a bath with a shower head attached to a hose. This was held in place in a loose holder halfway down the length of the bath and just above it’s edge. There wasn’t a shower surround or shower curtain. To prevent water going onto the bathroom floor, to have a shower one had to either crouch or sit down in the bath. This was quite ridiculous and uncomfortable. Surely the owners should consider installing a shower screen on the bath? Also, the lights in our room (50) kept switching off within a couple of minutes of being switched on. This was most annoying! Evidently, the switch into which the door key had to be placed and rotated to the right, was faulty. This hotel was quite expensive to stay in. Considering the price paid, the above issues are really unacceptable and a great disappointment.

Had a great stay. We had book a parking space and got a whole secured garage which was great. The location was amazing. The hotel itself was very beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. It had a fridge, coffee machine, safe, fan and hair dryer. It was only a short walk to the main square. The staff were amazing and are a credit to the hotel. Helpful, friendly, full of great tips and advice.

We stayed just one night during the recent heatwave. I was dreading it after seeing some of the reviews as this very old building understandably has no air conditioning. However we were on the top floor so opened all the windows and found several fans in the cupboard and that was more than adequate to keep us cool. The building is very old so no lifts...hot work getting bags upstairs but we managed. We were actually early checking in so they let us leave our baggage so we could go out and explore whilst the room was finished. The room was lovely with high beams and a view of the canal. We had 1 double and the children had singles together. Lovely Rituals amenities in a very large bathroom. We didn't book breakfast as we wanted to go out and explore. My husband did however enjoy a beer in the little garden at the hotel. You are walking distance of the centre which is great. If you have a car do remember to book the hotel car park. We didn't and due to the one way system around Bruges it was a bit of a drive to park in the nearest public car park.

My wife and I recently spent five nights in Hotel Ter Bruge during our break in Brugge, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel is delightfully situated beside one of Brugge’s many canals and it is a very beautiful building. We had a room which overlooked the canal, and I can throughly recommend paying extra for that view - it is very restful, albeit the ducks are sometimes a little noisy in the morning. The room that we had was a good size, and the ceiling beams gave one a real connexion to the age of the building. The hotel is very clean and the bed was super comfortable. All of the staff were invariably helpful and courteous. The location of the hotel is on the edge of the city centre, which means you get the benefit of peace and quiet but it’s just a five minute walk to the city centre. There is a wide selection of options available in the breakfast buffet. Everything that we tried was very tasty. It’s really nice and restful to eat breakfast at one of the tables which looks on to the canal. We throughly enjoyed our time at this hotel, and we will be sure to stay here again when we return to Brugge.

The hotel is perfectly placed far away enough from the centre of town to be quiet but close enough to get to the market square in about 5-10 minutes. The location right on the canal is stunning. The staff were absolutely amazing - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is stunning. It’s an old building so there are a lot of stairs but being an old building it has a lot of character. There is a lovely cosy area inside to sit and have a drink, a small bar (that is always open) and a garden area if you want to sit outside. We stayed in room 30 which was gorgeous. Beware of the steps to the downstairs rooms as they are a little steep. Our room had the most beautiful tiles all the way through, vaulted ceiling, window overlooking the canal and a large bathroom. There was a large bath which did have a shower but no standing shower. Breakfast was a lovely mix of hot food (scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans) and more European options (salmon, meats, cheeses) and also had yoghurt with various granola, lots of different types of bread, fruit and a lot of different drinks. If I ever planned on going to Bruges again I would definitely stay here!

Room Tip: There’s limited to no parking. There’s a lot of steps in the building so not ideal for anyone...

I loved our room, it was so romantic. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable and clean. The room view of the canal and latticed window with coloured panels made it feel like fairytale room when the light came through. The furniture was antique and really beautiful in the room, too. Would come again! Only thing to say is the tea and coffee felicities weren't the best and not much in the minibar.

I am not one for regular reviews, however, after spending 2 nights in this hotel with my family of 8 I couldn't but do one! The hotel is outstanding, has wonderful breakfasts and the kindest staff that go above and beyond no matter the time of day! Upon arrival, the receptionist gave us a warm greeting and showed us to our rooms. After getting ready we went to the bar int he hotel, where our receptionist is also the bartender - very multi talented! After asking about the history of the hotel and activities to do around the area she was more than helpful and friendly. My whole family had similar experiences and we will all be back to stay when we are back visiting Bruges. Thank you very much!

Cosi hotel and well located, but…. We stayed in room 26, which a family room under the roof. The room itself is quite nice, but we had a horrible night as we were woken up by noise the whole night. We could never determine what caused the noise, it definitely came from the roof, it could have been birds, or the wind moving things. But it kept us from sleeping throughout the night. When we finally woke up, it seemed that there was no warm water for our morning shower. The hotel was quite busy, probably the hot water capacity does not match a full hotel. We took a room with breakfast included, and when we came in the breakfast room there were no tables available. We waited a while and when we finally got seated many items were missing from the buffet. Again due to the busy occupancy of the hotel during this holiday period, the capacity of the breakfast facilities did not seem to match the amount of clients. The personnel (students) were overwhelmed. All of this made our stay less enjoyable than it could have been. Certainly considering the steep price!
