Hotel De Orangerie receives accolades for its attentive staff and prime location, ideal for guests eager to explore Bruges and savor the peaceful canal-side setting. While its charming atmosphere blending historical elegance with modern comforts is frequently celebrated, particularly during festive times, guests have called out the hotel's cleanliness and unique amenities, like the terrace with canal views.
However, opinions on value are mixed, with some reviewers questioning the price point relative to the hotel's offerings, and while the rooms are generally admired for their design, there are mentions of variability in cleanliness and standards.

There are no faults to be found at this lovely hotel, where the welcoming friendliness is high on the agenda. It is very well situated in Central Bruges and in a quiet cul-se-sac. The decor and furniture are individual to each room, a Nespresso coffee machine ensures the complementary warm drinks, also still and sparkling water bottles are complimentary. The mini bar is super-small but has a good choice. Bathroom filled with high quality toiletries and a great walk in shower. We loved the “sitting area” with an open fire where we were offered a free welcome drink…

A beautiful boutique hotel in an excellent location. Fabulous decor and ambience with great attention to detail. Extremely helpful snd attentive staff . Beautiful bedroom and very unique and quaint. A nice enough buffet breakfast but not the largest choice snd a little expensive with a bowl of oatmeal being €6 extra. Hotel manager offers a very informative free guided walking tour and is a lovely, friendly person. A voucher for a welcome drink a the bar and a little box of Belgian chocolate is a personal touch . Hotel stay was fabulous and would highly recommend how we there are just 3 areas of opportunity for improvement - provide much bigger bath towels that are big enough to wrap around a body - disable automatic light in bathroom so the bathroom can be used in the night without flooding the room with light - improve WiFi as it was constantly dropping out

This is the most wonderful place I’ve ever slept at! The hotel is quite small, the room likewise, but what an atmosphere! It was just lovely in every possible way. There were two (if not more) lovely fireplaces with huge chairs and sofas around and a third fireplace where the breakfast was served. And since it’s nearly Christmas, there was several trees and a lot of lights everywhere. The bed was good, the pillows likewise. We got two chocolates and some wasabi, and there was water (with and without gas) and coffee. The night between 5th and 6th of December, we were asked to put our shoes outside the room. “Sinterklaas” was coming during the night. And he did- and left presents! And we even got a little something when we checked out.
This is a memory for life. Thank you!!

The service at the hotel was excellent. We found the breakfast overpriced and our room was shabby, worn out and not clean. The person came to clean the room each day , made the bed and tied the drapes back. There was no discernable cleaning. I addition, the carpet was stained in various spots.

We are very impressed with the hotel. The staff are very friendly, helpful, courteous and always in a good mood. The hotel has a very special charm. The mix of historical furnishings, modern standards, luxury and special furnishings is particularly successful here. The room was romantic, individual and clean - just a place to feel good. The little touches round off the stay (still and sparkling water in the room with refill service, chocolate at check-in, cookies at check-out and refill of hygiene products etc.). The bar, breakfast room and terrace are charmingly furnished and invite you to relax. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, served in elegant dishes and varied. The feel-good atmosphere, romance and relaxation factor can hardly be described in words. We can only warmly recommend the hotel and will certainly come back here. If possible we would give 10 stars.

Visited here with my husband, beautiful hotel with attentive service. Good sized room, 24 hour bar service which the host really looked after us. Nice choice at breakfast. Really good location. Feedback would be to improve the towels provided in the room, as they are really thin and don’t match the luxury standard of the hotel. Otherwise a really pleasant and memorable stay.

I stayed for two nights and had an excellent experience. The hotel is beautiful with attractive decor and is both centrally located and in a scenic area along the canal. The hotel itself is similar to a manor house; the property is clearly old, but well maintained. Our room had a large, comfortable bed, with modern efficiencies in the bathroom, all tiled and with good hot water and water pressure. The breakfast room and tea room are beautiful and really make you feel relaxed with a great view out onto the canal. The breakfast is not included in the nightly rate and although a bit pricey, the quality is excellent with many options. The staff is very attentive, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again.

Hotel De Orangerie has a very cozy terrace where we used to regularly have breakfast or a glass of champagne as a non-hotel guest. We were always well received, the service was polite and friendly and the idyllic setting on the water of the Dijver naturally helps too. When we recently sat down with two people in the morning on the almost empty terrace and unsuspectingly ordered a glass of champagne each, we were not ill aware. We enjoyed our drink but at checkout a bitter pill followed. Two glasses of champagne cost us... 40 Euro, instead of the usual 24 Euro! When I contacted the receptionist and asked if there might be a mistake, she replied that the management had decided to charge these prices for non-hotel guests. As people born and raised in Bruges, we like to support the local merchants by spending regularly in our city, but 20 euros for a glass of champagne is a price they dare not even ask in London or Paris. If the owners of De Orangerie intended to keep the people of Bruges away from their beautiful terrace with this move, they have succeeded very well in their design.

The hotel is central, with easy access to the wonderful city and all its charms. My husband had booked it for my 70th birthday special treat, which had to be delayed because of COVID until June. The frontage of the hotel is beautiful as are the communal areas. However on arrival we were told our room was in the annexe and I would not recommend staying there. It felt to me like we were staying in an air b and b. As a previous traveller has mentioned I think they are trying to make savings, if this is so please don’t present me with an apple, a pear and a small bottle of water in a luxury paper bag on leaving! Whilst our room was made up daily I do not think the sheets were changed (we stayed for 3 nights) we disappointingly had no turn down service with the little luxury of a chocolate (let’s face it you are in Belgium, the home of the best chocolate in the world) The towels are thin, worn and frayed not at all luxurious and the toiletries meagre. There is no slip mat for the shower which is over the bath and there is no grab rail ( Should you require extra tea/coffee it is at a cost of 6euro. There were fleece blankets but no dressing gowns . The wardrobe, I am sure would be called shabby chic, but a touch of oil on the door would not go amiss. The wardrobe and dressing table are there to represent the Deluxe Heritage aspect of the room, this felt like tokenism especially as the modern built in units were not particularly brilliant. The arm chairs however were very comfortable as were the beds. The entrance to the annexe is nowhere near as grand as the hotel, a couple of lanterns and small console tables and mirror gave the impression of after thought rather than clever well thought out interior.design. All this might sound extremely petty but it was a special occasion and we did not feel at all special or spoilt. My husband paid £785.00 (920euro) for the 3 nights, this did not include breakfast or parking., so maybe you understand why we were very disappointed. For me Bruges is remarkable, wonderful and memorable, the hotel is not. If you do choose to stay, have a lovely time but do not stay in the annexe and don’t go for a special occasion.

Upon arriving to the hotel, we learned that one of our two hotel rooms was located outside of the lobby doors, on the ground level, with the windows covered up. I can't believe this is an actual room they would have paying guests use during their stay. The room was quite loud due to being outside the lobby as well as street traffic and lack of awareness by guests and staff they were banging on the wall of our room. One of our rooms did not have any seating at all and there were only two sofas in the "bar". I would not recommend staying at this hotel unless you're somehow able to wrangle yourself a better room and do not mind being woken up by cleaning crews every morning.

Dear Guest,
A crib is possible free of charge. If you prefer a rollawaybed we ask 50 euros per night and is on request as not all the rooms can accommodate this.
Did you already made your booking with us?
Warm regards,

Dear Guest,
We really can't predict.
It can happen that there is snow, but it can also be 10 degrees..
Early ferbuary is low season in the hotel and in city.
But whatever season you pick, Bruges is beautiful!
Kind regards,
Julie

You can see all our differents room types on our website.
If you book the Junior Suite please let us know if the sofabed should be opened and made up.
Kind regards,
Julie
