Where do I even start…. Great location and has so much potential to be something great… I was going to contact the hotel personally but after reading the recent reviews there wouldn’t be any point. We first arrived and the guy who checked us in seemed fairly nice and lead us to our room, to which we were lead through the back corridors of the hotel (quiet strange) a horrid foul smell hit us when walking through and to see some sort of hotel building site, after about a 2 minute walk to another outer hotel building we were finally lead to our hotel room… at first it seemed pretty average… we dropped our bags off and went out to explore the beautiful city. To our return this is when everything went down hill, started off with the electric cutting out if you put more then one object in? Next the curtain was falling off the pole, lots of damp around the room, also a really disgusting fridge that hadn’t been cleaned not only that there were little hairs all in the bath…. After a long day all I wanted was a nice relaxing bath but to my surprise NO HOT WATER! I went straight to reception for a different guy to be there who spoke no English at all and told me to wait till 7am and for a manager to speak to me… I contacted Hotels.com and couldn’t fault them as they sorted me a new hotel straight away which has been brilliant (IBIS) Nevertheless the country is absolutely stunning, such a shame this place is a let down. Honestly AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Not as described at all

This hotel was a complete disappointment! The only fairly good thing about it was its location. The hotel was undergoing building works and was so messy. Our bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Mattress was stained and sheets didn’t fit so they came off to expose the bare mattress each night. The bath had stains and chips in it - again very unhygienic. Floor boards were coming up and floor was dirty. The staff at the reception were really moody and unhelpful. The rooms were hard to find and had to clamber up tight staircases with suitcases. Would definitely recommend spending a bit more and staying somewhere nice!

I booked 2 nights here as wanted to stay somewhere close to parking which it is. A very short and easy walk from the underground parking station. There is a lift in the building. And that is where my list of positives comes to an end! The hotel is less than basic and very unloved. The restaurant and bar are closed. There were some renovations being undertaken at the reception area, but they should have started with the rooms instead. The walk to the room left me nervous with the carpets worn & stained. Now on to the room itself. It was tiny and there's no way this could ever be described as 'deluxe' although that was what I had booked and paid for. The weather was hot with the heatwave in Europe and this hotel had NO air-conditioning. The receptionist assured me there would be a fan in the room, but there wasn't. Went back to reception and she gave us the fan she was using. It was tiny and noisy, but better than nothing. The bathroom ceiling was very mouldy, as was the shower curtain. The only lamp in the room didn't work, and only 1 of the 2 wall lights behind the bed worked. The pillows were old and flat with no spares available in the cupboard. With the poor standard of the room, decided not risk our health further and declined to eat breakfast there.

the excellent location cannot make us forget the inconveniences of the room lacking essential comforts, first of all the lack of daily cleaning. The cheap room we were assigned had very dirty carpet. Windows that don't open and an uncomfortable, blind bathroom. From the photos and the three stars we certainly weren't expecting luxury but not even this

I was wary choosing the Hotel ‘T Putje given some of the previous reviews, but it actually turned out to be not as bad as expected! Only about 8 minutes walk with wheeled bags from the railway station and easy to locate with the assistance of google maps. It’s also only a short walk into town. A good location. There are numerous cafes and bars within metres of the hotel, although I am not sure why the hotel’s own restaurant and bar are currently closed, especially given that it is the height of the tourist season. We arrived several hours early but the receptionist kept our bags whilst we went walking around. We checked-in at normal time and the receptionist was affable and told us what was going on in town the next couple of days. We had booked a luxury double room but I'm not so sure that we were actually given that as it was quite basic. However, the bed was comfortable, there were good pillows, a fridge, plug sockets on each side of the bed, a room safe, the shower pressure was excellent and the wifi was reliable. The air-conditioning, if it actually existed; less so. It seemed to have a mind all of it’s own and sometimes blew warm air, sometimes didn't work at all and at one stage actually seemed to provide some cooler air. Can’t say that the room was luxurious by any means but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. The usual continental style buffet with a coffee machine, yoghurt, cereals, cold meats and meat, croissants, a variety of bread, fruit juice, as well as scrambled egg and bacon. Maybe not the biggest variety compared with many of the other European hotels we have stayed in, but it was well-presented in a nice setting and tasty. The staff whether at reception, the cleaner or at breakfast were fairly polite but not exactly overflowing with niceties. Overall, our experience appears to have been a bit better than that of other previous guests/reviewers and we thought that the Hotel ‘T Putje although not great was reasonable. However, I don't think we would return there.....and that sort of says it all.

Their website demands an off order of information gathering to book a room. I booked 1 room for 2 adults. However, it booked 2 rooms for 1 adult each. The front desk said that this was not the first time it happened- a known issue. Snarky comments from the staff to my husband and i ensued and we asked for the mistake to be corrected, given that we are not the only ones confused by their booking process. He laughed and said they were booked and that it was my fault and he would talk to a manager. Very late that night, we pull back the bedding. There were no top sheet. Just a sheet covering the mattress protector and the lightweight comforter. We pulled back the sheet assuming it was a top sheet to then invover approx 10 black hairs per bed- which i recorded in real time. Because the leadership team does not work late night at the desk, i decided to send the video of the hair to the leadership team. They accused me of planting these hairs and went into a ridiculous explanation about how it would be impossible to have hair on the streets. I invited them to come to the room to see for them self and sent the video. I should have been charged $178 for the total 2 night stay. I paid over €400. Not only were they rude about the booking error, not willing to make any adjustments ot settle, but they then continued to delittle the disgusting hairs that we found. Do not stay here. This should be considered a youth hostel. Sheets bedding and rooms are dirty, staff is rude, and have zero thought into the customer experience and cleanliness of their facility.

It is a cozy hotel with a great location. The staff is very helpful and cooperative. The location is very close to the train/ bus station 10-15 minutes by walking distance . A close supermarket (4 minutes) . The breakfast needs an upgrade but they listen to feedback and they are working on it .

Excellent service, friendly staff. I got a clean, descent room up the attic with a nice view. The only disadvantage was the shower-bath that was under the roof. You can only have a bath, not a shower. Other than that it was a lovely room for a solo traveller very close to the city center.

Unpleasant stay! We had booked to stay for two nights last weekend but left after only one night. There is a strange smell in the lobby and lift which is awful and hard to describe. The room was clean but our double bed had two mattresses on and was not at all comfortable. Worst of all and the reason we left first thing the next morning was the noise. Upon checking in mid afternoon there was some kind of argument going on our floor (1st), this resulted in shouting and banging and went on for a long time. We returned after a meal out to further shouting and banging, this was most definitely being done on our room wall. Eventually and just after 11:30pm a member of staff did come to our floor to deal with it. Bear in mind there can be no sound proofing in this hotel as every word being said could be clearly heard. I did not feel at all safe in this hotel and honestly could not wait to leave the next morning after no sleep at all.

We had room 107 on a first floor. Equipment is basic. What I spotted immediately was the dirt in the bathroom - black hairs in the corners of a white floor. Bed sheet had a hole (looked like from cigarette). What was great is the location - few steps to city centre, 10 min walk to main square. Also bathroom was kind of modernized, good shower. What was very bad is the bed. A nightmare. We had double bed with 2 single mattresses and a topper. Mattresses were running to the sides with every movement, and topper falling aside. Bed sheet was not holding on mattress at all. So each morning we woke up feeling broken and with totally destroyed bed... Quilt was very warm and there was just 1 big for 2 people, would prefer 2 single quilts. And the room was incredibly hot. We could not sleep. Hotel certainly deserves some renovation. And hire cleaners that do care, please. They e.g. throw away bottles we had on a table, that we needed. Although we left all trash at the bin or near it so it was clear what was intended to be thrown away. What I also did not like was that they changed our towels each day even if they were not used. Please think about the environment! In general I noticed in Belgium they don't care much about trash separation, in most places there are no extra bins for plastic or paper, that is sad. We did not try breakfast as 18 eur per person is a lot. Reception staff was friendly. When I see pictures from this hotel posted by hotel management, I see nice modern room, and that is very unlike the room we had stayed at.
