From gilt mirrors to Roberts radios, everything fits within this grandly classical 1770s home. The owners are gently-spoken interior designers who have created a sumptuous blend of historical renovation and well-placed modernism along with certain 60s-retro touches to avoid any sense that you are in a dead museum. The truly dazzling salon and 18th century dining room include original wall-paintings of Flemish-fantasy harbour scenes. Out the back, a neatly manicured parterre garden and fountain-pond leads to a photogenic 17th-century carriage house.

The hotel is beautiful, my daughter called it scenes from Alice in Wonderland. The art used and placed, the choice of furniture and the rooms esthetic, all above par. Congratulations. The one thing that did stand out unnecessary was that everything cost extra. We were 2 adults and a 13 year old girl, so we needed a room that had enough space for an extra bed, this costs extra, but was a sofa with linnen on top, not even a fold out. Breakfast was separate, fine, but a fruit salad on top became a separate cost. Emotion wise, it could work better if the "extra's" don't feel like extra's. If the room we had was listed as 440 euro for 3 people including breakfast, it would have been fine. My advice, make these things inclusive, so they feel like luxury, I am sure the guests visiting you can afford staying there. We did sleep like babies, so thanks for that.

Stayed here just after Christmas. The house is stunning. It’s a perfect little gem set a few hundred meters away from Ghent centre. Marc and Jan were superb hosts and took so much pride in their work. And it showed through every detail of the breakfast, the bedroom and all the beautiful artwork there. The private & secure garage is well worth using which you can access anytime. Would definitely stay here again when we go back to Ghent. Oh and the wonderful Kandinsky will great you on arrival :) Enjoy!

What a gorgeous mansion. The common areas are beautifully decorated, which creates an cozy lush atmosphere. The room was huge including the enormous bathroom. All the staff are wonderful. Amazing place to stay.

We arrived and wasn't sure we were in the right place because it is not instantly obvious - and then you enter into another world. - full of antiques and collectibles. Our room was up stairs (note, no lifts) and our room was complete with four poster bed and an enormous bath room. All decorated beautifully. It's quite over the top. I loved it. Breakfast is served in the dining room. I think it was the most expensive boiled egg I had throughout our month in Europe however - what presentation! My partners fried egg arrived with a cloche! Attention to detail. Its a wonderful experience.

In the heart of Ghent but still in a quite area. It is a true b&b as landlords are living there too. It is their home, hotel and studio full of antiques, art and design. It might not be your personal taste but you’ll still appreciate the style, careful selection of details, precision and overall vibe of the house and a very well kept city garden. With other words - extremely stylish. And host are friendly and helpful. Only it was a bit strange what for a coffee in a room (“Illy” capsule espresso) guests are charged (2,5 Eur). Anyways it will not keep from staying there again next time in Ghent (as each room is individually decorated) and we had a great time there.
