Our 2 night stay in the hostel was more than pleasant. Easy to reach on foot from the station and run by very helpful staff for every request. The buffet breakfast (€5 per day per person) was very satisfying. The room was clean and simple.
It has a garden with a table for meals and a common room, ideal for making new acquaintances. Absolutely recommended!!

Clean, new, cosy, kitchen available, not far from the city centre, friendly staff. Would definitely suggest it and go back there on my next stays in Gent. Only suggestion: bring a long charging cable for your mobile phone in case you are staying on an upper bulk bed as no individual plugs available. Altogether, a great choice for value :)

Very quiet place in early September. It seemed like we were the only ones in the kitchen or common room most of the time. Not particularly sociable, most people kept to themselves but everyone was friendly. Included breakfast was good.

An excellent breakfast, complimentary fresh brewed coffee and tea available 24/7

Friendly, helpful and resourceful staff, a super clean hostel, great double pane dorm windows to keep the noise out and the hostel quiet. Very comfortable, a nice vibe, each bed with a personal light and power outlet. Generally fast reliable WiFi, though one night when the hostel seemed especially full, the WiFi slowed to a crawl…a scalability issue?

Truly, one of my favorite hostels in Europe.

The hostel looks nice, with a good common area and correct breakfast. My traveling companion and I booked a triple room, knowing that we would probably have to share it with a third person. So far so good. Our stay was tarnished because of our roommate, who had not washed in probably weeks or months (luckily, I ignore this). The hostel was full and the front desk staff thought it was a good idea to allow a person with null hygiene standards to stay, and this was obvious to the naked eye. He filled the room with a stinking smell and woke us up at midnight. We opened the window, put the blanked on our faces and tried to put up with it and left in the morning.

Staying here was a highlight of our quick weekend trip to Ghent with my family including teenagers. We were able to rent out a whole dorm room (6 single beds) with a private bathroom that met our needs very well. This facility is secure, clean and nicely updated. The staff were professional and helpful, the common area was comfortable and well equipped. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch (not sumptuous but, for a hostel, it was quite nice indeed!) The location is very central, close to public parking, public transportation, and frankly within easy walking distance of all of centrum. Their complimentary city guide was outstanding and helped guide our activities in this great city. Not your cheapest hostel option but, for our trip KaBa was clean, secure, centrally located, professionally operated and comfortable.

Hi Rhodesius, thank you for your lovely review, we are so glad you liked your stay here, as a family, and appreciated our hostel. We like to welcome families here!! You really pointed out all the aspects we ourselves find very important in our hostel and in all hostels all around the world. It pleases us to hear that the family room and the other facilities in the hostel satisfied your needs as a family. Hope to see you again some day!

Just left Ghent after a night in KaBa hostel. The hostel is great. Lots of positives. The staff member (Nico, an Argentinian guy) was very helpful. He was pleasant, engaging and made us feel very welcome. He was the most welcoming person we met in any of our accommodations as we travelled through the Netherlands and Belgium. The room we got was very spacious, and I'm glad they have resisted the temptation to jam in more beds. The window opened fully and was covered by a fully secure mossie net, which was great.this allowed lots of fresh air into the room. The sheets provided were clean, noticeably so. Thank you. The shower and toilet were immaculate. My partner and I loved the common area. The kitchen was just like home, and the nice fresh coffee available all day was appreciated. The breakfast was really very decent and the layout of the eating area helps guests relax. Breakfast included orange juice, tea, coffee, breads, cheeses, meats, and cereals. There's a nice wee garden where guests can enjoy the sun. The common area also has sofas, which are a little tired, though not unwelcoming in any way, in a lounge area which was great, with easy listening music from the radio. We could relax there whenever Ghent tourists’ crowds got too much. I recommend this hostel and would gladly stay again. The staff member deserves special mention, he really made they stay comfortable and I hope the owner notes this review. The location is nice, beside the canals and quiet. One of the better hostels out there, and worth booking if you need a place in Ghent. I’d go back to the hostel if I was in the area again.
