We recently rented the whole Hostel bcoz we had a youth congress close by. Everybody including me had a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, comfy and the dining room was just homely. The breakfast was really good. Took care of both the vegans and the vegetarians. Absolutely pleased and i would recommend any time. Best regards, Jayakar
Clean, new, cosy, kitchen available, not far from the city centre, friendly staff. Would definitely suggest it and go back there on my next stays in Gent. Only suggestion: bring a long charging cable for your mobile phone in case you are staying on an upper bulk bed as no individual plugs available. Altogether, a great choice for value :)
Nico, the receptionist, is great, personable and always one step ahead of one's needs, truly the highlight of the hostel. The breakfast is great and the house really nice. Only thing to keep in mind, (if you dont have a big lugagge that would be uncomfortable to carry up the stairs) i recommend asking for a room in the 2nd or 3rd floor, the bathrooms are way better there than on the 1st.
Just left Ghent after a night in KaBa hostel. The hostel is great. Lots of positives. The staff member (Nico, an Argentinian guy) was very helpful. He was pleasant, engaging and made us feel very welcome. He was the most welcoming person we met in any of our accommodations as we travelled through the Netherlands and Belgium. The room we got was very spacious, and I'm glad they have resisted the temptation to jam in more beds. The window opened fully and was covered by a fully secure mossie net, which was great.this allowed lots of fresh air into the room. The sheets provided were clean, noticeably so. Thank you. The shower and toilet were immaculate. My partner and I loved the common area. The kitchen was just like home, and the nice fresh coffee available all day was appreciated. The breakfast was really very decent and the layout of the eating area helps guests relax. Breakfast included orange juice, tea, coffee, breads, cheeses, meats, and cereals. There's a nice wee garden where guests can enjoy the sun. The common area also has sofas, which are a little tired, though not unwelcoming in any way, in a lounge area which was great, with easy listening music from the radio. We could relax there whenever Ghent tourists’ crowds got too much. I recommend this hostel and would gladly stay again. The staff member deserves special mention, he really made they stay comfortable and I hope the owner notes this review. The location is nice, beside the canals and quiet. One of the better hostels out there, and worth booking if you need a place in Ghent. I’d go back to the hostel if I was in the area again.…
Very comfortable rooms, good breakfasts, great coffee, friendly manager, quiet place and close to the center. Kind prices, tasteful decorations, clean and comfortable bathrooms. I recommend with all my heart.
The pictures of this hostel really don't do it justice; particularly the atmosphere and the overall look of the place. It's set in an ideal location within walking distance from the city centre, with great restaurants and small shops located close by if you're looking to stay local some nights. It's also a manageable walk away from the train station, and there are many bus stops nearby. I stayed in a mixed 3 bed dorm, equipped with a bunk bed and a single bed, as well as locked storage compartments. The room, as well as the bathroom, was extremely clean and well organised. In terms of the social space within the hostel; the kitchen downstairs as well as the living room were extremely inviting and provided a good place to hangout and make friends with other travellers staying in the hostel, if that is something you're interested in doing. Overall, the hostel felt safe and secure, was very clean and in a good location. It had a really comfortable feel to it and the staff at the desk were very friendly and approachable, and always willing to help.…
This is an outstanding hostel. We were not able to book in until 3pm, but we were able to leave our bags and shop for food nearby. This is conveniently situated, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of town, and with a a charming ambiance. In the summer the little enclosed courtyard garden would be magical. The breakfasts were outstanding and there was free tea and coffee during the day. We used the excellent kitchen facilities to cook. Everything was immaculately clean and the staff on the desk were always friendly and helpful - eg running off bus tickets for us. We wished we could have stayed longer, it was so comfortable. Highly recommended
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed. Close to Ghent Dampoort station. Very cozy and clean. Each room has different painting on the wall. Kitchen is full equipped. Free coffee and tea are available during the day. Common area and garden are really cute. Stuff is very friendly. Breakfast was also good but be ready to cook your egg with the way you want. Only problem was beds were shaking especially the upper one. Except that I love it and recommend you all!
Cozy hostel within walking distance of the city center. I stayed in a female dormitory with 3 bunk beds and individual lockers. The shower and toilet were adjacent to the room, which was very convenient. Downstairs there is a communal seating area and a kitchen fully equipped for cooking. In the morning, there is a breakfast buffet with a nice variety of fresh food such as bread, yoghurt and cereal.
The kaba hostel is a very welcoming hostel, the breakfast was very good. Free coffee and tea all day. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. The events in the hostel are very good and the rooms are clean and the ventilation is very good. You must go there if you are visiting ghent.
