And not just the mouldy decor. Took my wife and daughters for dinner one night.. the over familiar aging male waiters actually made fun of us and our Irish accents ... "wait !! What!!" But it's completely true. The place is dirty , smelly , mouldy and all that goes with that... I dread to think what the kitchen is like. If I ever got stuck for somewhere to stay in Ghent , I'd prefer stay out in the cold rain... don't ruin your stay by even visiting this establishment. They'll never see any of us again or anyone that will listen to us... also one of the old bald guys tried to hit on my wife ( she only told me when we'd returned home)

We stayed here in May 2019 with our 2 children for 1 night and that was long enough. The hotel was dirty, smelly, uncared for and overall in a bad way. Our family room was large but smelt of mould. There was a hole in the wall and damp patches around the ceiling. The bathroom was also old and mouldy. We tried to find alternative accommodation for the evening but it was a public holiday in Gent so all the hotels were full. Our advise would be to look else where!

Nice room, good location, but... no hot water. The woman at the reception reacted as if she had heard this problem for the first time, but I read now in the reviews that the same problem was already there in 2018. She made not the slighted attempt to compensate this inconvenience....

Probably one of the worst hotels my husband and I have stayed in. A few positives: staff were welcoming, very central location, free WiFi. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was pretty poor. We arrived at 2:30pm and were told check in was not until 3pm and our room was not ready. As we were early we thought this was fine and left our bags to go for a drink. We returned at 3:15pm to be told the room we had booked would not be ready for another hour but we could swap for a different (smaller) room. We were tired and did not want to wait any longer so agreed. We were directed to the smallest lift I have ever seen. I joked to my husband it was a good job we weren’t claustrophobic in case it broke down... the lift then got stuck between floors! Staff managed to fix the lift and get us out very quickly- we chose to take the stairs for the rest of our stay but not a great start! We arrived at our room which had apparently been cleaned- there were dirty cups left next to the tea/coffee facilities which had also not been replenished. I left the dirty cups on the landing outside the room- they were still there when we left. Towels and bedding were left on the landing and not put away. The bathroom was ridiculously small, I had to sit sideways on the toilet as my knees grazed against the wall and I am only 5ft 4! Room was right next to the lift so we constantly heard this going off. TV had weak signal and all channels were fuzzy. Room very outdated. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. I would recommend staying elsewhere if possible!

Stayed here for 3 nights from 5th April 2019. Let's get the 'good' points out of the way first. Lady on reception was very friendly and promptly booked us in. That's it I'm afraid. The Hotel itself is a dump, easily the worst hotel I have stayed in for many years. Decor is not only outdated but in serious need of a coat of paint. I think the management may have forgotten to actually employ a cleaner. Right from the reception entrance to the rooms are in serious need of cleaning. The room itself was pretty grim. Carpets were in need of cleaning at the very least although a burning them would have been the best option. During our stay the room was not cleaned once, hospitality tray (tea, coffee etc) was not replenished or cups cleaned. Ghent is well worth a visit and I will certainly return, however It will not be at Cour St George!
