Treck Hostel is located in a former brickyard from 1854. It's the first indoor camping in Belgium. You don't sleep in a basic double room but in one of our ten theme caravans. For example: you can relax in the Zen caravan, reminisce about the past in the Retro caravan, run around wildly at the Jungle caravan or laze out in the hammock of the Hawaii caravan. Some of the caravans are designed by young artists of Ghent. Extra: for those who like wood, there's also a lovely suite. Curious? You can book a caravan for two, three or four persons. If you're traveling with friends, it's also possible to sleep in the small or the large dorm, with 5 and 13 beds respectively. The hostel also has a large relaxing room with a cosy sitting area, two pingpong-tables and a table football. For those who want to be a bit lazier: in our movies caravan, there's a nice television screen in vintage style waiting for you. If you want to cook for your friends, you can use our new kitchen. When you book an overnight stay at Treck Hostel, you get a tasty and fresh breakfast. The buffet is being served in our cosy bar 'Treckhaak' (Dutch for Towbar), a bar with a playful blend of styles, chairs, crates and cupboards on a warm wooden floor. Do you prefer the sun? Have a drink on our relaxing terrace or on one of the patios of the beautifully restored brickyard.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here February half term holiday. Couldn't fault the place, it is different but still comfortable and fun. There is a huge games room/lounge and good kitchen and bathroom facilities. Breakfast is included and bike hire is available at a reasonable price. The staff are very helpful and there are always different people to chat to in the evenings. Would definitely return.

This is a very special place - basically a hostel that is as much an art project than a hostel! You sleep in a caravan, which is together with about 10 other caravans in a big hall. I would not worry about safety, since every caravan can be locked. It is a place that clearly has a heart for the local vulnerable citizens (cfr. the pictures of places where the homeless sleep in the yard) but also with visibly strong artistic talent among those who built it.
My only recommendation would be that if you are a light sleeper, bring your own earplugs. There are sealed earplugs in the caravan, and you'll need them since given the auditive properties of the building, it is really noisy, even if guests are trying to keep silent (and at 3 am, a singing guest was not...)
As for location: we walked to the city center, it's about 10-15 minutes. And because of its location slightly outside the center, it has this huge inner yard, which is fantastic when the sun shines.
Staff was very friendly and relaxed - there are some local people from Gent working there, as well as some international volunteers who stay there for a while.

Wow - the 12 year old wants to come back and stay in every van !! We loved the comfy beds, the private space , the games room, bar and fabulous breakfast.
Staff were really helpful and it's in a really quiet part of Ghent.
I was concerned that everyone might not be respectful of everyones sleep but they were and it was really quiet at night - we felt bad when we woke at 6.30 and turned on lights !!
Lots for children to do - indoor play frame made the 12 year old v happy !!
Would have liked a bin I'm the van but understood why not to help with recycling

Big airy shed with lots of funky caravans. Each have own ‘private’ space with sofa/seating. Large communal room with table tennis and sofas. Quiet time 22.00 to 08.00 respected. Lovely and generous continental breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. We hired bikes for trip to fab water park/swimming pool. 15 min walk into Ghent centre so great location.

We enjoyed the stay in this hostel, sharing and loving the fact of sleeping in a caravan without being in a camp site, quiet and open minded people that we met. Thank you for this concept and friendly welcome.

The best part of the stay was that we got to live in a caravan, something we had never done before. There were separate bathrooms/restrooms for men and women which was nice. The hostel is well connected by tram.
Only issue was that there was no basin within the caravan which means you need to go to the bathrooms whenever you need water. Also, the caravans were quite small, making it a little difficult if you have lots of luggage.

Treck is honestly one of a kind. The staff are charming and helpful, the sleeping areas are whimsical and functional. It's true, the location isn't great but the hostel itself more than makes up for it.
We had the balcony bed that isn't a caravan - it's a little hut and balcony with curtains. We still felt we had privacy and it was quiet, only the stairs could do with a little oil to keep the noise down ;)
We had a wonderful stay, and if we're ever back in Gent, we'll be back at Treck!

Everything was great. Staff, facilities, indoor and outdoor. The only thing we wished for is that the breakfast time was from 6.30 to 10 so we can enjoy their amazing vibe while having breakfast because we had to leave the hostel very early the next morning. Friend and I really enjoyed and we were sad because we were there for just one day. We concluded we should have spent one day just in a hostel and the other day discovering Ghent. Hope to be back again :)

The hostel is not in a well known area and hard to find, however, it encompasses such a cool concept which is quite hard to find. I loved how comfy the beds were and breakfast is very good for a budget hotel. Atmosphere is cosy, only drawback is common bathroom and showers. Also, our caravan was relatively small but beds were super comfy...Assistance was impeccable!

Beste Clementine,
Groetjes,
Team Treck
I'm pretty sure that there isn't private parking. But the hotel is in a quiet area.
